  1. The flaw here is that you can be on something while touching the side, such as when I stick a post it note onto the side of my refrigerator.
  2. I would point out that my definition of on isn't incorrect, and I have no idea if you are correct as I don't know the intricacies of point placement on circles in geometry.....and I am betting the average reader of the rules also would not know that off of the top of their heads. This actually makes the "common definition" a more applicable one, and that is why this is still a thing.
  3. Direct quote from page 40 of the big rule book: "To determine LoS from a model to a target, the player will draw a series of imaginary straight lines from the acting model to the target model. These LoS lines are drawn from anywhere on the acting model's base to anywhere on the target's base" On can mean just touching but not part of, including on the sides of (such as a picture being on a wall), and anywhere includes the outside edge of the base. Between does not necessarily mean goes through. From same page concerning Line of Sight: "A model has LoS to a target if at least one of the LoS lines drawn between the acting model and the target does not cross intervening blocking terrain or models" Note that the LoS line has to cross whatever blocks it, which unlike being on something means the line has to go through the object. Even though I don't like the interpretation it is a valid one. It also seems like the sort of thing that could be settled with a five minute "official ruling until the next FAQ" post, and I would happily use a gentleman's agreement to simply say that same sized models can block LoS to each other before a game.
  4. This is actually incorrect. The rules specifically state (on page 40 of the big rule book) that LOS lines are drawn from anywhere ON the acting model's base to anywhere ON the target's base- and "on" includes the sides of the base. "On" does not mean the same thing as "part of", nor does it necessarily mean "over or resting upon" as something can be on the bottom of or stuck to the side of something else. Note too that the same page specifies that the LOS line is only blocked if it CROSSES blocking terrain or another model's base, meaning it has to go through the blocking terrain/base, not just touch it. Therefore, it is entirely possible to have three models on the same base size be in a perfect row and be able to draw a LOS line that is ON all three circles but does not CROSS the circle in the middle- meaning LOS is not blocked by the model in the middle. Mind you, this is just playing Devil's advocate. Personally, I think same sized models should block LOS to each other if you line them up right. But the rules can be very easily read to mean that they don't.
  5. Why bother unless you already have a couple of the metal Teddies? For no extra work you can get the great metal one that is already properly furry. You won't even save money on buying the pastic one as, unfortunately, it costs exactly the same amount as the plastic one.
  6. I really like the Kobblestone buildings, they actually look like the Victorian inspired city buildings that I picture looming over the inhabitants in Malifaux. It is a nice break from buildings that look like they are more at home on a Warhammer table or the variations on the wooden shack/Western theme. I would agree on them being pricey though.
  7. I am really liking that freehand dragon! Are you looking to become a sculptor or just wanting to get better at conversions?
  8. It is good to see you back! That Sonnia crew came out great!
  9. I am looking more at that chain weapon......that thing looks like it will be nothing but trouble....
  10. The condition removal and good defensive ability seem like they could be handy in some circumstances, but I couldn't see taking all three of the ones in the box at once. I think the real issue with the models is bad proportions. Wyrd really needs to get someone to design their models that understands how long legs are supposed to be in relation to the rest of the human body. If I ever actually wanted to use one in a crew I would have to pick up a proxy to avoid having a monk with giraffe legs!
  11. Yeah, he is not really an improvement over metal Teddy. That sculpt is a classic from the metals line, and unfortunately plastic models just cannot duplicate good fur textures like metals can. It is a downside of the metal molds that plastics are made in- they allow for zero undercuts and fur textures are loaded with undercuts. I have puppet Teddies and a Nightmare Teddy, looks like it is time to grab a classic Teddy. +1 for showing the actual models instead of renders
  12. It is a great model, and one of the perks of playing with your friends is you can use any model you want...
  13. You are debating stripping all of that hard work? You can't be serious.....
  14. I enjoy the game, but realistically I spend way more time on the hobby side of things. Not that I am complaining. I currently have loads of Olympic curling events to keep me company while I paint!
  15. Nah, I started collecting and playing in the late 1980's. But I will say that Malifaux is what I am collecting, playing, and painting now.
  16. I have never used it but have fought against it. It isn't so much the beating face (which does happen) but the confinement to your deployment zone from turn 1. Germinate creates severe terrain, which slows movement. Waldgeists have a potential Slow trigger. Models that can start is charge range of your crew get your models caught in engagements, often before they even get their first activation. Bad Juju pops out, and can hand out Paralyze via Horror checks, on a trigger from their melee attacks (did I mention they can flurry?), and can dish out area of effect Slows as a zero action. Even if they don't kill anything the first turn they have hamstrung you, which makes scoring with a bunch of Schemes and Strategies a lot harder. In the enemy backfield they still have models left, moving into position, getting ready to score. Fun times.
  17. Yup! Three raptors come out of nowhere, and if you manage to kill one in the ensuing fight a T. rex pops out of it! If you kill the T. rex without killing all of the raptors it can disappear and then pop out again when you kill another raptor! Sounds pretty dangerous to me. Now if only the raptors were smart enough to leave Samuel Jackson alone and eat the annoying grandkids instead...
  18. I often find that Francois ends up going out in a blaze of glory, but Raphael is the one that is grabbing me VPs. Lenny is the one that is often situational for me, unfortunately he is very vulnerable to WP attacks that don't give conditions. Is it acceptable to always include Francois and Raphael simply because I like how their models look?
  19. Ever play against three of them upgraded to be able to deploy six inches outside of your deployment zone, protected by not only Armor but Perfect Camoflage? They charge in, boxing in your models, and if you kill one a Bad Juju pops out? Right into an engagement with full AP available? Using Flurry and Landslide, possibly even getting off a Paralyze in the process? When you finally kill the Bad Juju he can just Bury and then Unbury again when another Waldgeist dies? Having a slightly weaker zero action doesn't even begin to make Waldgeists useless. Not that Germinate is that bad now.
  20. I am a bit surprised nobody asked for a new Hungering Darkness. A new Misaki would be nice, as would a rescaled Brass Arachnid. Not sure if the Arachnid would count as a new model though. I just can't take Misaki's plastic model seriously. Lady Justice, even though we already have a couple of versions of her. I remember the flaws of her plastic model being covered elsewhere. While we are at it, redo the giant Death Marshall so it actually looks like a big guy instead of a Death Marshall that was just digitally enlarged to look big.
  21. I like him! Great blending and it even looks like there is stubble on his face!
  22. My very first posts on these boards were regarding asking about pirating a company's miniatures on their own web site. It is generally a bad idea. The short version is if you live in the USA it is covered by federal laws, there is no provisions for "personal use" in this regard, there is no provision for "it is ok as long as I don't sell it", and I quoted the relevant laws at length. Basically, if you make them but don't sell them you can be taken to civil court, if you sell them you can be brought up on criminal misdemeanor or felony charges depending on how much you sell. Don't do it, and if you do it anyway don't talk about it on the web site of the people whose rights you will be violating.
  23. I like your Rocket Girl, but I liked your blog post about her inspiration and not appealing to the lowest common denominator even better. Please don't be offended, it really does make me happy to see that there still are people in the world who feel this way!
  24. Those Riders are really nice, even the little puppet one! I don't know if you mentioned it earlier, but what are you using as a backdrop for your pictures?
