  1. Yeah. I never ran a game before. All the scenarios are a big help.
  2. According to Rippling Fates, a variety of sea creatures have become more aggressive and invading the Gremlin lands. It would shock me if they are not tied to Meridian.
  3. It likely varies based on the country's acceptance of the Guild in the beginning and the level of power they had. I believe the Three Kingdoms has been basically taken over by the Guild. Abyssinia probably was in a good position and the Guild was treated more like the first among equals. It should be noted that Ironsides blames the Guild for not banning American slavery. So, they have a huge influence beyond just SS and magic. It's pretty much their only concern of course. It was a cruel tease to put it on the Upcoming List and not have it for Black Friday. Parker sad. Honestly, Through The Breach is an incredible wealth of information. I was buying it just for the fluff before I started a campaign. Actually, Under Quarantine was the first place Parker Barrows was mentioned. and actually has a quite a bit on his background. Eh. Remember, it starts in December. It should end in Jan or Feb. So, if you get any money for Christmas, there's a perfect place for it. Of course, I don't have kids, so Christmas doesn't hurt me too much.
  4. I've always taken it as all Terrifying models are supernaturally terrifying. Just some only effect "Living" or "Undead" or "Construct." This is why some big monstrous models don't terrify people despite the idea of them being really scary.
  5. Well, my guess is Meridion was drawn to the Governor-General like all the Tyrants. Since s/he wasn't tied to a host, s/he was able to follow the Governor-General to Earth when he became the Burning Man.
  6. A new sourcebook came out in October and there's another Penny Dreadful on the schedule. So, I'm saying it's nice and healthy.
  7. Honestly, a Three Kingdoms Faction can wind up three different ways. An actual Three Kingdoms Army. The strike against this is that unlike the two human factions being shown, the Three Kingdoms is pretty beaten down by the Guild. It's more worried about survival than expanding. A spirit army that is unleashed by Kirai. I think this will be something big. Of course, there's no reason this Court of Two will be necessarily be Three Kingdoms-Themed just because Kirai is doing the raising. An Oni army. Oni have been everywhere in Ripples of Fate. The Oni Lord being unleashed and raising an oni army seems natural. It's possible the Three Kingdoms will even join it.
  8. I saw some interesting things in the King's Empire splat and figured I'd start the discussion. 1. It seems that the British have kicked out the Guild. I am curious on whether this was before or after the Burning Man appeared. Regardless, this is a major shift in the power structure of the story. 2. I think the cunning tactics bit in their description indicates that they may Stratagem Allegiance. Burning Man will be first Faction, but depending on how the Stratagems work, the King's Empire may be my second..
  9. Yeah. They just look awesome. That's all I need. Insane fire cult worshipping a burning man in the sky is just gravy.
  10. Two different things as I believe there's about a 60% chance of the Divergent Path characters being Henchman and 40% being a Master. I don't see them being Enforcer or less. Henchman Fluff: She's become a member of Levi's messed up family. While a part of her is "missing," she's still herself. Her Teddy is her constant companion protecting her from Alyce and Levi's enemies. She's just trying to grow up in this messed up world. Mechanics: An Ability that would cause her to take damage that can be reduced or prevented to pop out Levi. Her attacks would all basically be the Teddy. She would have a bigger than 30 mm base, possibly a Ht 1, 50 mm model. Limited summoning (Wicked Dolls or cheap Constructs). Master Fluff: She's become an ascended Waif in the way Molly became an ascended Belle. Levi could technically use her as a Waif, but chooses not to because she's, you know, still a person. She's still part of the Levi family, but has her own things going with her Tiny Teddy and Friends. She could do her own thing for her own motives (like find out what happened to her parents) or being moved by the forces of entropy. Or both. Alyce still makes her life miserable though. Mechanics: Her powers with Entropy become a major source of her attacks. The Tiny Teddy becomes a either a Henchman or a Totem. Possibly both. Her Wicked Dolls could be her minions (likely altered into a new model which would have the Puppet characteristic which would let the Collodi take them which is kinda nice considering Neverborn won her twice and shaped her early story). She could have a sort of reverse Levi effect. I'm not sure how it would be balanced.
  11. I find Lynch to be very sympathetic. He basically a prisoner of the Ten Thunders and the Hungering Darkness. He's just trying to survive. Mei Feng knows the moment she proves useless, she'll be discarded. Others have been brought up. But while they are a bit more grey than some others, they are hardly monsters. As for the mythological monsters.... from my understanding, they were a big part of the kingdom. Then, they fell from grace. So, they still have links to the powers they had when they were a major faction within the Three Kingdoms.
  12. Thanks for the correction. But I doubt there's an "Americans can only write Arcanists" rule. Honestly, I don't care where the writers are from (hence why I obviously don't know). My annoyance by the comment was that I seem to. Also, annoyed that it was implied that I don't know basic world history and ignorant of story implications which I refer to (if vaguely) in a previous post. Also, I may be a bit grumpy as I am about to go to work at retail on Thanksgiving. It's madness. It's madness I tell you. So, if I seem like an asshole in this or my previous post, I apologize to anyone who is offended.
  13. Note: I was not saying that the Arcanists were a good guy faction. Just not the pure evil you seem to be suggesting. The Arcanists, like all the Factions, are a mix of good and bad people. Like the Guild and Ten Thunders, the overall organization is pretty bad, but the individuals can be (and some are) good people (relatively). Like the Guild, they are both protectors and tormentors of the people under their control. Depends on the person and situation on whether they are one or the other or both. I am quite aware of the Boxer Rebellion, western imperialism, and the parallels between them and what's going on in the story. That's why I talked about the Ten Thunders "fighting for the Three Kingdoms which is ruthlessly subjugated by the Guild." That doesn't mean that it washes away the shitty things they do (mostly against their own people). But the protection rackets, forcing people to sacrifice themselves to Oni, and all the other bad stuff the Ten Thunders do doesn't erase the good they do. The same goes with the Arcanists. If you want to talk about characters who have never done anything wrong or doesn't do questionable things, well, then I'm not sure if a "good" character exists. BTW: All the factions are written to by Americans and non-Americans, so not sure what you're getting at there. I mean, Wyrd doesn't hire call for writers from Asia to write Ten Thunder stories. EDIT: Got corrected, but the point still stands.
  14. Teaming up with one of my other locals. I'm going to pick up the Reva box (didn't want to wait until July), Dead Outlaws (I need all the Bandits), Witchling Thralls (getting an early start on the year of the Guild [2017]), and the female Rafkin.
  15. Well, front organization or not, the M&SU does actually help the average rank and file in their organization. Ironsides is a good person. What was said about Mei Feng above still applies. Sandeep seems like the mage rebel fighting for freedom (as opposed to Ramos who is interested in his own gain). Collette is a smuggler, but many for her protection. She does care for her girls. And Marcus.... not sure about him. He's probably more concerned with studies and living the animalistic life. He's neither good nor bad.
  16. Oh. *SPOILERS FOR RIPPLES OF FATE* . . . . . The Ten Thunders saved the city in recent events. Nicodem took advantage in the disorganization of Guild in the wake of the Governor-General's death. He was doing damn good, and it's basically suggest that he was on the verge of overcoming the Death Marshals and running rampant through the rest of the Malifaux. The Ten Thunders realized what was happening and attacked the southern(?) flank. Once it collapsed, the Death Marshals were able to overcome Nicodem's army. Had they not interceded, it's quite likely that Nicodem would have won or did even more damage than he already had.
  17. Well, they are an underground criminal organization, so pretty bad. But there's a bit on perspective. All factions have good and bad in them. The Guild are the protectors of humanity. They're also a facist regime. The Neverborn do horrible things to humans, but humans are invaders who are stripping their natural resources from them. So, they kinda have a good reason to hate humans. The most evil faction is the Rezzers and even they have good people in it (Molly, Kirai, and Reva come to mind). As for the Ten Thunders, they are a ruthless criminal organization bent on domination. They are also fighting for the Three Kingdoms which is ruthlessly subjugated by the Guild. There's probably less good in them compared to some of the other Factions, but no faction is 100% evil.
  18. Well, the first book is a little different as the Pursuits allow you to get all the Talents, just at different times (unless you take the ones that can be chosen multiple times, multiple times).
  19. I always assumed you pick one and that's it. The Necromancer Pursuit in Under Quarantine actually backs this up as it specifically allows you to pick different specializations in place of General Talents (assuming you pick specialization to begin with).
  20. I played a pbp and the GM was talking about Malifaux. I never played miniature games, but had been considering it for a while. I started to do research (the forum, pullmyfinger wikia, etc.). Honestly, it was a hard choice. I had some money coming, so I knew I could have a good start. Rezzers, Neverborn, and Outcasts (Hamelin and Levi) were the top ones I was considering. I didn't know who I would pick up until I got into the store. Ultimately, I picked Molly for fluff reasons (running Molly in 1.5, that was a good time), Seamus to give Molly some Belles, and Lynch for style and fluff.
  21. Is the book in the wild? My store still can't get it.
