  1. Hopefully once all the faction books come out there will be a Collected Edition of the rules or something that gathers all the core rules together in one place. Having the rules for combat in one book, the grapple skill in another, and expanded rules for grappling in a third book seems very clunky. I can also see a lot of people getting annoyed at having to buy three books just to be able to grapple someone. Oh well, guess I'll just need to homebrew some grappling rules for now.
  2. It's nice that grappling was added as a new skill in Into the Steam (although it probably should have been in the core book) but it seems to be missing some rules. I'm not sure if they're in a different part of the book and i just didn't notice them, or if they actually don't exist. Currently the rules for grappling don't seem to take Might or Ht into consideration. They also seem to be lacking rules for escaping a grapple once you've been Pinned. As it stands I'm imagining a terror tot being able to grapple a peacekeeper with no penalties due to the peacekeeper being much stronger and much bigger, and then being able to keep the peacekeeper paralyzed basically forever with no way for it to break free. Is this really how it's supposed to work, or am I missing something? How did this not come up during playtesting?
  3. So, Outcasts #10, the Leveticus Channel thing. Is there a reason why it contradicts every other ability that also bases something off of the damage suffered? According to this, if a model heals half the damage suffered by the enemy and inflicts 10 damage to a model with armour +2 then it should only heal 4 damage, but in several different parts of the FAQ it says it should heal 5.
  4. A couple of these look really nice, much better than current plastic versions (Sommer I'm looking at you). Too bad I wont ever be able to get any of these. I'm strongly opposed to this whole exclusive miniatures thing. It promotes scalping and elitism and the whole thing makes me physically sick to my stomach. I know it's doing well for Wyrd, and I'm glad it's helping them grow and prosper, I just don't like how it's becoming such a huge part of their business model. Things like this should be general release alternate sculpts, not exclusives that'll just end up in the hands of scalpers selling them for $50-60 a pop on ebay. I really, REALLY hope Wyrd reins back on the exclusive minis sometime soon. Never have I seen a minis company produce so many exclusive minis.
  5. I'm looking for the Latigo Posse stat cards and upgrades. I have most of the cards from a Ten Thunders Wave 1 Arsenal deck to trade (everything except the Mie Feng crew stat and upgrade cards), or I can send a paypal payment. I would use Wargame Vault, but I also need the upgrades and they don't seem to have those up yet.
  6. Sorry for the sidetrack, but why wouldn't death by poison count for assassinate? Has this been stated somewhere, because I can't seem to find an FAQ entry for this. Unlike other schemes, assassinate doesn't state how the master has to die, just that it is killed or sacrificed. Death by poison means it was killed, doesn't it?
  7. In my mind damage suffered is totally different from actual wounds lost. The ability doesn't say his wounds total has to be reduce by exactly 2, it just says he has to suffer 2 damage. So he suffers 2 damage, which fulfills the condition to get the , then the damage is modified in whatever way (like through soulstone use), then Levi marks off the appropriate number of wounds. The actual number of wounds Levi loses has no bearing on getting the from Channel. Plus, typically if damage can't be reduced or prevented the ability will specifically say so. Of course, it would be nice if I was actually wrong about all this as Channel is still a disgustingly powerful ability even without being able to stone to prevent the damage.
  8. I got a predita crew in a trade recently, but unfortunately they didn't come with any cards. I'd love to grab some of the PoD ones, but I need the upgrades as well. It is a little strange that the stat cards were put up without any of the upgrade cards, but hopefully we'll see them soon.
  9. I know it's not to the letter of the rules, but I prefer to lean in the direction of common sense here, and what the developers of the game clearly intended to be the case. In other words, only the part of the terrain between the attacker and the target should count when determining cover (the part you're drawing los through). If the parts of the terrain you're drawing the los lines through isn't within 1" of the target then it wont count as cover. If someone I payed ever claimed that they got cover in a situation similar to the one shown in the second picture I would take the building, snap it in half so it counts as two separate pieces of terrain, put it right back in the same placement, then say "now you don't get cover".
  10. I looked through the faq and didn't even see that. Must have skipped right over it.
  11. If a model has Focused and declares a charge, can it use it's Focused condition on the charge to get the bonus to attack and damage flips for both the attacks generated by the charge? Or could it only use Focused on one of the attack actions generated by the charge? I'm guessing it's the former, but I just want to make sure.
  12. Actually you both seem to have this backwards. Severe terrain means you can end your movement anywhere within said terrain, which means a model could end it's movement with it's base anywhere on top of the fence. Climbable just means you can get to the top of the piece of terrain, and since there isn't enough room at the top of a fence for a model's base it must jump or climb down the other side. So, making fences climbable is the best way to make it so models can't end their movement on top of the fences. Sadly, neither severe nor climbable really work well for ht 1 fences. Models shouldn't be able to stand on fences, but having it cost 2" of movement to jump a fence seems a bit steep. Maybe climbing should cost 1" per ht climbed if the model has a higher ht than the ht of the terrain. So a ht 1 model has to climb normally over a ht 1 fence, just like a ht 2 model has to climb normally over a ht 2 fence, but the ht 2 model can vault over a ht 1 fence for only 1" of movement reduction.
  13. Some story scenarios involve interior locations, such as an arcanist lab, a tavern, the Star Theatre, etc. A 3x3 table seems a bit big for these locations, so I'm curious to know how others have handled/would handle these kinds of tables. Do you just make the entire board into the location and not care about how big it would be? Do you put the location in the middle of the board and surround it with streets and other buildings? Do you divide he table up and have each division as a separate floor of the location? Is there another way?
  14. These are the ones i use. Fantastic tombstones for an amazing price. Shipping from Croatia may be a bit of a problem though http://www.tabletop-world.com/tombstones.php
  15. I really like this, it's exactly what an asian dragon should look like, which is fitting considering it's for an asian-inspired faction. Most of the negative comments here seem to boil down to nothing more than: "I'm only used to western dragons therefore asian dragons look funny to me" which really is more of a problem with the viewer and not the miniature itself. As for the leg positions, people seem to forget that these miniatures are not meant to be representations of statues, they represent a singular moment in time. The left arm could be on the downswing from an attack, or simply pawing at the air while the dragon rears on it's hind legs. It's position isn't that unrealistic if you consider it is just one moment in a much longer motion. besides, how can anyone seriously complain about how "realistic" the miniature is when we're talking about a glob of magical energy that started as a puppet then turned into a magic dragon. I love it, and even though I don't play 10 Thunder I may still get it just to paint and have it look pretty on my shelf.
  16. So, the new releases for December are out and there's no sign of the Brotherhood of the rat box sets. Does anyone happen to know of an updated release date for this set? Or has this box set fallen into the same limbo Brewmaster was in?
  17. I don't know, I just don't see the gupps as being that goofy/silly, definitely not gremlin level goofy/silly. Splash a little blood on them, have them standing on the remains of their last meal, I think it shouldn't be too hard to make them look pretty horrific. Besides, there's only so much you can do with baby fish people. I also don't get the boring/static comments. They do have plenty of movement to them as far as I can see, at least they're not standing rigid with their arms by their sides. Any more movement and they'd look like they were dancing. Does anyone honestly think dancing baby fish people are going to be any better? You also have to consider that three of them have to fit onto a base, which will limit how dynamic their poses can be.
  18. I love the gupps, and the spawn mother looks pretty good, although it's difficult to picture what the pose will be like in 3d. I have a feeling she'll look a lot better as the actual model than she does in the render (more hunched over, reaching out to grab/slash some unfortunate prey). Sadly I think Wyrd's decision to not put pics of the actual models on the packaging or on their web site may come back to bite them on the rear for this one.
  19. I really don't like the giant-sized kneeling Death Marshal, probably just going to sell him off if i can find someone who actually wants him, which leaves me with two Death Marshals I'll actually use. I was just curious to know how important it was to have all three Death Marshals.
  20. Cool, I wont worry about getting a third one then.
  21. So, I'm really not a fan of the 10 foot tall kneeling Death Marshal. I thought about replacing him with a Miss Terious, but yikes is she expensive. I was thinking though, do I really need a third Death Marshal, or will two be more than enough already?
  22. Since the Black Friday Francisco is so similar to the metal one I figure it would be easier and cheaper just to get the metal one. So, if anyone has a metal Francisco they'd like to trade or sell please PM me. Thanks.
  23. Hmm, spend $200 CAD on stuff I can get at 30% off from other online retailers just to get the Francisco alternate? No thanks, rather wait and trade/buy just the Francisco model after the holidays. Now, if the Francisco model was available to purchase just on it's own I would have snapped one up in a heartbeat.
  24. Some neverborn are transformed humans. Zoraida has already been mentioned, but Tuco and the models from the starter set are all humans turned (or turning) into Nephilim. Also, even though humans call all natives to Malifaux Neverborn, not all natives are part of the Neverborn faction. Gremlins for example, are natives, but not part of the Neverborn faction. It gets kind of confusing.
  25. How are Metal Gamin now "not worth it any more", to the point were you shelve them and never look at them again? For 4SS models they are still damn good. So they lost HtK, boohoo, get over it. I say good on Wyrd for finally bringing the Metal Gamin down to something that's actually appropriate for a 4SS model.
