  1. Looks like a pretty good list, depending on strategies and schemes. I would replace the belle with a punk zombie, but that is me. Also, don't expect alot out of the nurse, but they are fun models.
  2. Yeah, I have no idea. I am just going by the models and what someone said. I don't have the books so I am a little limited to what is online and what little reading I can get in when a friend brings the book over. It would be nice to have some story behind the characters in a "character driven" game that EVERYONE could enjoy. Now, that was a dig at Wyrd.
  3. As the runner of many a demos, most the advice given is pretty spot on. Painted crews, nice terrain and set up, and having all you need to run a game is the basics. I find that bring other models you have painted up and set to the side as example is good also. Lets people see what other models are in the line. One thing I learned from someone was the phase "keep it simple, stupid", which is good advice, but don't make it too simple. You don't want someone buying into the game thinking it is just a game of high flips, then they get Dreamer or Leveticus and find out it isn't. Even if you don't use some rules, let them know you are running a basic game and what extras the game has to offer. Setting up a special offer with the shop owner is good also, after the demo, they will be itching to try and a special offer will give them a reason to do so. It also helps if you have a game night you host Malifaux. No one wants to get into a game and find out there is no one around to play. Host the demo the night before or during your game night and then they can see other games being played or come back soon to see the games. This is the salemen in me talking, but have a list of prices also. Some people will get into the game if it is cheap and buy in even faster if they find a cheap box set. Let them know how the different box sets work. That is what I have to offer. Don't get disappointed if no one shows the first time or you only off one game, hang in there and keep trying. Best of luck to you.
  4. Maybe someone pointed this out already, or maybe not, but isn't there a dead Lady Justice? I have see the limited edition box set and heard something about a building falling on top of her, so isn't she dead also? I see Malifaux as high fantasy enough that death would really mean nothing to any of the named characters. Not taking a dig at Wyrd, but killing main characters and then having a way for them to not die is pretty standard comic book story lines. It works for me.
  5. I have to agree with SpiralngCadavr, Sodapop miniatures is the site to look at for "cartoony" paint style (it is more anime, but let's not get into that). The example show are really nice, something I could never pull off, but do not look anywhere "cartoony" to me. Guess it goes with your idea of "cartoony", but for me, I see it more as primary colors with little/no shading or highlighting.
  6. Congrats! Nothing quite like the feeling of a sucessful demo. If they play, it is great. If they buy even better. If they come back and play, the best. Good job speading the word of Malifaux!
  7. I am the TO for our gaming group and I think timing the games is a must. Without it, gamers could take all the time they like to think about what to do and the results of what is done. In a timed game, you are forced to think on your feet and keep your head in the game. Both players stay focused on the game also, as the slower player is likely to be reminded of the time limit and keep focus on the game. In my group, this had never brought out the worst in gamers and everyone enjoys the game. I will be running the first of many Malifaux events on the 21st so I will see how it works in Malifaux. In WFB, it works.
  8. If I were a TO (and I am) I would allow them. Those are some nice bases. Nice for those of us that can't/don't pull off the outrageous basing that wyrd and most Mailfaux players pull off. I like them.
  9. Welcome to the forums and the world of Malifaux. I settled with Resurrectionist after seeing the Kirai model and so far have not been pulled over to any of factions (until I at least get all my Resurrections painted). Malifaux does have that feeling to it were it makes you want to try out everything!
  10. That is the same 3 crews I have to deal with in my gaming group also. Luckily I have Seamus, McMourning, Nicodem, and Molly to try and mix it up some depending on who I have to face. I also am learning the benefit of making a crew after flipping for the stratergy. It is tough, and I am still trying to find a way to deal with Lady Justice, but practice is what it is all about, that and sticking to your objectives.
  11. Sounds great! The more the merrier.
  12. Yeah, should be a good time. Malifaux is still pretty new in our area with people hopping on the Malifaux train every week. Anyone has any questions, let me know.
  13. Well, doesn't Molly hang out with McMourning? I think I rememeber reading that in book 2 about her getting along with McMourning's creations. I guess, fluff wise, that is why the rogue nercomancy is in Molly's box set.
  14. The sin city idea is soo cool. Thinking a vik crew painted up like that would be awsome also. Lots of good work.
  15. I use Dragon shield. You get 100 sleeves and a nice box to keep them in.
  16. Yeah, Some of the guild could would, but they are too personal. They need to be just nameless rabble, except for the master of coarse. Desperate Mercs were idea I was thinking, but who would be the master? None of the outcast could do it as none of them work together and if a guild master, they will cost more.
  17. So there is a friend of mine in my gaming group who is a BIG fan of pirates. I just happen to see that war machine has a box set that just came out called the Sea dogs crew. Check it out, http://privateerpress.com/warmachine/gallery/mercenaries/units/sea-dog-crew-unit So my question for my fellow Malifauxains, is this: what models in Malifaux would these proxy as best? My gaming group is pretty relax so everyone proxies, but I have none of the books and only have the pdf cards to look at. So what do you think? What could these guys be? I am thinking of Von Schill as the master, but that kind of limits the crew. Any ideas?
  18. I have printed both of the scenarios and they will be playtested this Saturday! Report will be soon to follow.
  19. Go to My Profile. You can put it in there and it will show up under your name. Just like mine says Omaha, NE and Clousseau says Olney, Bucks, UK. Welcome to Malifaux and never be afraid to toss out a rules question, everyone here is pretty helpful. ---------- Post added at 06:35 PM ---------- Previous post was at 06:31 PM ---------- That can get tricky. First you have to find the difference in combat scores and then modifiy the cards from there. Example: you charge and get a difference of 4 for the combat score. If you look at the chart you will see that is -1 flip, but since you charged you gain +1 flip so the two cancel and you flip one card which you can cheat if you like. Hope that helps.
  20. Can you not make it to Adepticon and wish you could? Ever wanted to be in a tournament but not sure how good you would be? Then this is the event for you! Con day at the Lair When? Saturday the 21st Where? Dragon's Lair Comics 8316 Blondo Street Omaha, NE 68134 What time? Starts at 10am until 5pm Cost? Nothing! This is not a tournament, more of an event. List will be pretty relaxed and some players will be kind of new (at least locally). Players get a 25ss list to play the Adepticon scenarios with. Proxies are allowed and you don't even have to have a painted crew. Just bring a fun crew you have always wanted to try out and have some fun. There will be a prize for the top 3 players. It happens, Saturdays at the Lair.
  21. You never add to the number on the card (almost never), so the +X and -X is the number of cards you flip as well as the one card you have to flip. So -2 flip would call for you to flip one card and then flip 2 more and take the worst of the whole bunch.
  22. You are talking about the Ramos box set? Friend of mine got one also and it had cards for Ramos, the steamborg, and 6 cards for spider swarms. If it anything like the blister pack, it should have 1 spider swarm card and 3 single spider cards. He emailed them and they said they were out of stock and would send them out as soon as more are made. Just let them know and give them the little code on the pack.
  23. If you are good at pinning, that is best I have heard. I was pretty put off when I first seen the belles also, but I just super glued them and I have never had any problems. Just get a good case to put them in and good super glue and you should be ok.
  24. Oh my goodness, such a good one. Could not stop laughing during the whole thing. Good job guys!
  25. Nothing I myself would change except maybe change the strat to always be shared. At this level it would make the encounter feel a little more personal. Another guy in the group said something about upping the stones to 15 but I don't think that is needed. He made the same claim as others in the fact some masters need more points, but I say no. Playing at this level should just really be about testing yourself, your master, and the few minions you have. I will give it another try this Saturday and maybe post a battle report. As for the stones, I didn't think so. Maxing them out is kind of fun as it turns the master vs master into a real epic duel.
