Nope, you can play any faction you like and as many as you like! There will be 5 weeks in the campaign. This might be changed, so keep an eye out.

Welcome to the Dead of Night Summer campaign hosted by Through the Breach: A Malifaux Transmission. During this campaign, the seven Effigies are battling against an ancient creature from Malifaux's shadowed past. The victories of your faction will aid in keeping your favorite Effigy in what is possibly the most important fight of its existence. Only one Effigy will emerge from this battle victorious, so gather your crews and get ready to cheat fate against the Clockwork Vengeance. The Rules: - Games must be a minimum of a 20ss Hardcore game. No Enforcer Brawls. - Each player may turn in a max of two results. You can play more games, but only two will count. - You will earn your faction bonus points by playing a story encounter from the M2E Crossroads book or the weekly TTB story encounters. - You may choose to switch factions, but remember that only two of your games every week will count no matter which faction you play with, so choose carefully. Each week, after the first, we will release a special Story Encounter that people can play which will aid in advancing the Dead of Night story. The winning faction from the previous week will have a special bonus while playing the new encounter. This bonus can also be applied to the Crossroads Story Encounter or any encounter for that matter, so do all that you can to win it for your faction! Reporting Games: - We will be posting up a link to a google doc for you to report your games, or you can email them to deadofnightcampaign@gmail.com In the report you will need to include: - Your Name (A forum name or other nickname is ok) - Your Opponents Name (Same as above) - The Faction you played - Your Win/Loss result - If you played a Crossroads Story Encounter or the Special TTB encounter. Bonus Prize Drawing! Show the rest of Malifaux the power of your faction! As a special thank you to those who choose to take pictures or videos of their games, we are adding a special prize drawing to The Dead of Night Summer Event. There is nothing to stop someone from using the Dark Carnival as something else. Maybe not official at Gencon or Adepticon, but locally, go nuts and use it as what ever you like.

I got to say, I am very impressed with this year's Gen Con preview. A true Nightmare crew, not just an unreleased crew. A true Miss model, not just a last minute toss in. All the other stuff is standard pre-lease fare, but I am very impressed. Good job, Wyrd. My faith in you has increased +3.
