  1. I took it in The discription that you don't flip any cards if you choose to fail, why else would they say "before any cards are flipped" if you had to flip otherwise?

I also started with Kirai, and actually found her pretty good to start with... although I had a fairly big advantage of the guided missile (out activate, move Kirai up summon 2 Shikome who preyed the master or other serious threat, the killing of said master/beatstick ensued!) That said, I'd still recommend 2 shikome, between nimble, flight, & spirit they can really move for adjective games (there is litterally nowhere they can't go), also not getting slow is great. They are also still resonably hitty especially if you get them up against they're prey. Your list is pretty much the basic starter set, some other models are: Insidious Madness, Hanged & Jack are all really good support models for a Kirai crew & can really help you hit against the oppositions WP. Just beware that Jack's & the Madness' auras affects you too if they have any nasty Wp rst spells. I always start with 5 Seishin, these really are the lifeblood of Kirai crews, Lost love is a good safety net for 2ss & can make another model a spirit (great for Izzi, Dead Rider, Yin, etc). Speaking of which, a lot of the new ancestors go quite well, Yin adds to Wp evilness, Izzi is a great beatstick, Chiaki can remove slow from summoned models, give extra speed, Toshi + to attack. although, I'd probably only recommend one non-spirit as you'll probably want to save those high crows for other stuff later (triggers, summoning) in the game. For me the Datsue-ba has never performed... I really prefer specialists to generalists, but that is me! There is a nice thread going atm on Ikilryo, I'd recommend that, I also started a thread about Yin & Kirai that you may find useful, alternatively, there is a truckload of love for spirit Izzi! Tactics & SS wise: I've found that the best place to be for Kirai is naturally on the edge of combat picking up seishin as stuff dies. Because of this, she doesn't really need too many soulstones (normally max 6). These I'll mostly use for summoning if I don't have a high enough crow in my hand. My crews are basically LL, 5 Seishin, either Yin/Dead rider/The Schill/Izzi to be spirited & then as many cheap models (Gaki, Madness, Night Terrors) as possible. First turn I aim to move up the field (preferably with into the spirit world, you'll learn to save masks for this!), spiritify the non spirit & summon 2 Shikome & then heal some wounds with sooth Spirit.   4. Just had a re-read of your updated post and gotta say you da man! Prizes in a free legue? Wow! poker looks pretty cool too, is there a cap of one option per game and once for the legue? Atm, I can see Kirai doing well with 5 Seishin & 2-4 three point spirits (gaki, madness, Terrors, so lots of good ones). Then just add in a four & five point model for 12-15pts a game! To top it off, it's still a strong crew!
  5. I believe Heed my Voice can only be used on enemy models, making it a better and worse version of obey. Otherwise a great read!
  6. Alright, I'm looking at including some (2) Insidious Madnesses in my Kirai crew. Aside from the fact that I'm not really feeling the model, I'd like something with a bit of an asain-y look going for it. Any ideas??
  7. Glad it went well for you! In what ways did it work well? What does Jaakuna bring to the mix? she synergizers great with the madness but anything from Yin? Oooh... new strategies! Where can one find these?
  8. Ok, I was thinking how to make some good use of Yin... then, playing against Kirai it hit me!! She is the only one I can think of that can hire both Yin & the Insidious Madness. What's better than an Anathema floating head? An anathema floating head that is a spirit that has been swirled into a mass of enemies with - to WP duals!! Fill crew to taste. Am I on to a winner here???

  10. wow, Thanks for sharing! (although how you came across it might not be a good question to ask!) the video is kinda cool, but rather twisted... especially the parts reanimating bit. I wonder if it actually happened... if it did then it the possibilities are rather staggering.

  16. Hm, thanks for the advise, I think I have a few ideas on how to play against Jakob next time! I think the big thing for me was that I didn't realise how easy it is for him to come back... He is quite a dangerous model to be ignored, but I will try that... I focused on him way too much last game. Bring it on Raz! I had a game against Kirai, last night where I finally got him working alright, not brilliant, but pretty dang good (it helped that I had some decent luck this time!).
  17. First off, your friend's list is illegal... by my count it stands at 36SS laz - 8 Taelor - 8 4x Ronin - 4*5=20 so 36 all up. if it is only 3 Ronin, then at least they only have 4ss. (0 starting cache) How is Laz such a pain, what is he assimilating? I can't see how he gets any scrap other than blowing a (2) for the perma assimilate. What is working for you & what's not? I would recommend your next purchases to be Yamaziko & 10T bros. Yama can give +2Wp for a 1, which will help you overcome harmless. & the bro will allow some companion chains so that you can hit hard to drop models. As for tactics... you could try a 3rd archer fo a good ranged offence. maybe try to focus these as much as possible on the Viccies to make them burn good cards on defence or use their stones. He has no way to heal (other than SS), so any wounds you get on the vic's will tell & hurt. If you can remove their stones then he will either sacrifice their own ronin to get more or lose a lot of effectiveness. If you even manage to kill one then they will need to find 2 ss & kill a ronin for "another on?". Any of these options are good for you, it removes his resources (cards or stones) & He could remove the ronin for you (which if you've ignored, will make it a hard decision for him to sac a full health Ronin). The archers can also may Laz slow, which will make him a fair bit weaker. If your archer's then get into combat, you can use the Tora to get them outa there. In this crew, basically have the archer's shielded by one of your models to get cover from return fire & take advantage of "the arrow's path". move forward as a group till within archer range. then you can slowly withdraw a walk & shot a turn. with your combat models a shield, deterrant & counter attack. I maybe wouldn't worry about Shang to give you a 7stone pool, you can then really capitalise on this advantage as it will make Misaki that much harder to deal with & make her attacks that much more potent. That said, I haven't tried the above, but it might work! (it sounds good in my head anyway!)
  18. maybe to make scehuling easy for people, maybe give them 2 pairings for 2.5wks, that way players have more time to organise if they have a bad week. you can then use the last 3 days to compile results and make the next round... just an idea I had! Feel free to ignore!

  20. Alright, I had a game on Vassel the other day vs Razham (sp?), love that I can play people accross the globe, but that's not what this is about! Anyhow, I took the standard Yan 35ss list (Yan, porter, Izzi, Toshi, Chiaki & 2 Ashi's, 7 cache, , spent 2 on chi) vs Lynch (Jakob, huggy, Yin, Toshi, an Ashi & 2 beckoners, 7 cache). I had several factors going against me here: 1st: it was my first game against lynch (compounded by the fact that I was reading their abilities as we went!) 2nd: it was only my second game with Yan (so still very much a beginner, thanks Razham for teaching me new tactics & letting me take back some mistakes!) 3rd: My cards sucked! (Razham can attest to this) That being said, there were many places throughout the game where I kinda felft that there was very little I could do to stop the debts. Everytime I felt like I was getting somewhere, taking out huggy & getting some moves, he would just honey my minions to summon the hippo back Basically what I'm looking for is general advise to getting it over the respawning living drug. My first thought is that I probably took the wrong master... misaki I have a feeling would go much better... but generaly tips & anything specific for Yan would be great! Lynch players what have you found that your opponents have done that made you cry! Cheers, Da Git

  23. I like the idea of a league too, a ladder might be too competetive maybe... could be a nice motivator to play games!
  24. Thanks for the game today & yesty Tharen, it was really great to be able to play Malifaux once again!! (almost doesn't exist in Japan!) as well as being able to play new players from across the globe, I think this will be really good as every group/country has different styles so will add an extra dimension! My thoughts: 1. I agree with everything Tharen said! 2. Everything worked really well, there are so many little things in there which happen automatically it is tops! Can't think of anything that didn't work. Really good effort to the people that created this! 3. I think using skype is a must to be able to talk, typeing stuff would take soo long & means that you can't play & discuss tactics/ideas/thoughts etc) at the same time... 3. I think it will be really hard to observe games because you won't be able to hear said skype (& if you join the conversation it might make it too slow depending on connectivity. 4. The only bad thing I can say about this (for my wallet anyway!) is that it is going to make me want to spend a heap more on malifaux models!!
  25. Cheers, that meant the difference between the shot missing misaki or becoming a straight damage flip, cheating the red joker & severed to kill her giving my opponent 6 VP... so suffice to say a fairly important shot!!
