  1. Yep, Guild for sure, which is why I posted it in this section! Not worried about sticking to a boxed set, but I will purchase part of the crew that way if it makes sense from a cost perspective. As this is a gift for his birthday, I am not looking for the cheap way but the right way, so whatever I need to buy in order to get the best Cowboy crew going. Perdita looks a lot more western than Lady J, so this is an excellent suggestion, thank you. And yes, I want at least 35ss worth of models so he can have some choice/flexibility. As for conversions, giving Santiago a hat would be pretty easy, so thats no problem, and hat on the back would be tough to fix, so i might just let that one slide, haha. Papa Loco is colouring too far outside the lines for me, definitely want to include more gun slingers. Do the Austringers just have birds or? I am guessing they are included b/c they are good for the crew, but I would love to replace their birds with guns, or fit different models in the list altogether. Keep the lists coming, it is all a huge help for me (my mind is still thinking like a Neverborn).
  2. Hello everyone, I am here because I need your help! Trying to get my brother into the game with me, but he is on the fence, so I want to appeal to his fancy, and come up with a playable list of all cowboys, the more true grit western the better. Some (obvious?) models that are perfect would include Death Marshals, Guild Guard(s), Samael Hopkins, Santiago, Perdita isn't bad (but guns drawn is better). Also planning on getting/converting the gencon convict gunslinger. I have no knowledge of guild tactics or solid crew compositions (because I am new to Malifaux also) so I am asking for your help to make a solid Western-themed playable crew list to lure my brother into the game. A shooty list with a decent amount of "cowboys" would be ideal. (note: I will be purchasing, converting, and painting these for him, as he is far less into the hobbying aspect than me!) Many thanks in advance for all of your time and assistance, I would be greatful if you would help me pull this off before his birthday in October. Cheers
  3. I thought this crew was so crummy looking compared to others, but now that I see how YOU painted them I am actually liking them a lot. Plenty of talent both in sculpting and painting, your work looks fantastic.
  4. +1 to above The stuff looks good, but would benefit immensely from a wash, i might even do a soft brown wash right over the entire models -- think Gryphone Sepia
  5. You should reduce your signature to a single line of Smilies, lest we all get nuked!
  6. Looking good LWAP, if I may call you LWAP... Are you lucky enough to be attending GenCon again this year?
  7. Forget the Dreamer, I want an Avatar LCB Heck, they can just bring back the Nightmare LCB model for it.
  8. The big daddies look fantastic, can we get close ups of the bases?
  9. No love for the feet eh? Good work on the face!
  10. I suspect that the way you will know whether or not you have a "cheap" grow list, is by whether or not you include Desperate Mercenaries in your list. Their inclusion, and subsequent face-eating to generate blood tokens, seems to be the bone of contention that people have issues with. Nephilim are designed to grow, so don't avoid doing it, do it whenever you can!
  11. +1 Your level of talent is very very high, I am amazed you commissioned anything out! But regardless, WOW, I am impressed.
  12. Make it a nightmare too! For good meaure... lol
  13. Just trying to wrap my head around the nuances of the Dreamer/LCB scenario: Using your example, what would happen if before that sequence, the dreamer had activated first. When he came back out with All Done, can he still activate and use leftover AP/Instinctual(s)? Or is he spent for the remainder of the turn. Basically I am asking if you can use the dreamer, use lcb, and then use the dreamer again all in one turn, while abiding by the total 3 AP between them, plus the melee expert and instinctual respectively. My suspicion is that, he cannot, since although the Shared Action rule states that Pass actions do not count towards the 3 shared AP, the Pass action would still go against his max (2) per turn, preventing him from "continuing" his activation after LCB is brought out then he returns. A bit confusing, hopefully you can make out what I am asking here. Thanks in advance for your time.
  14. My vote was for predator, but then I thought about actually liking the Chompy head.. so maybe design it after the limited edition chompy head or something similar such as BALROG:
  15. Thanks for the advice guys, I will get a few games under my belt and report back
  16. Bahahaha, pwned that Q. Ya I said it.
  17. Could Collodi work with the Dreamer? I know they both enjoy stitched togethers, and they are both very mobile... too much of the same or could it work?
  18. Mind if I ask which product you settled on!? If you nail down the timing do let us know
  19. This almost sounds like the tragedy of broken relationships, whereby, the person who cares least has the most power. By this I mean, you may have to give up on a few games to make a point. Tell THEM you don't want to play against their OP lists or combos. If you keep bending to their complaints, they will keep bullying you around, so my advice is simply to give them a taste of their own medicine, and "care" less than them (even though you secretly care more lol). Best of luck!
  20. Looking great! Keep us posted of your progress
  21. I think a good first step is experimentation, it sounds crazy but it will really help you in the long run. Use some cheap models, or prime and paint an old toy for practice. Try to discover if you are the type of painter who blends or layers, as this will help you pick out the paint range best suited to your abilities. In general: Reaper paints are handy for blending, as they contain more retarder and are quite wet. Blending definitely takes practice, but achieves some really fantastic results when done correctly. GW Citadel paints, and Vallejo Paints are dryer paints, better for the layering technique because they dry faster, and in my opinion are generally more opaque. I high recommend GW Foundation paints for beginners because they cover everything! You can also mix them with regular paints, or water them down a bit, and they retain excellent coverage. I also hear very good things about the quality of Vallejo MODEL color paints, not to be confused with the cheaper Game Color paints, which are cheaper made (similar to Citadel to be honest). Hope this helps!
  22. I have high hopes for the new book... any more details you can tease us with?
