  1. so...are you and CalmdownUK (on twitter) the same person, or not?:P

  2. so yes, I ran a demo game for Chris on the boards there over the weekend, and I have to say, the boards look even better in person than they do online. here are a few photos of the game and the board: and the man himself, wearing a jedi hat:
  3. Hi folks, I am pleased to announce that on Saturday 11th February I will be running a demo day for both Malifaux and Puppet Wars in association with the Warzone gaming club. many thanks to Fabio Costa for agreeing to host the demos. I will be in attendance from 10 am until 6 pm, and will be running a variety of demos throughout the day. for those who are interested please feel free to attend at the following address: Warfair Games 35 Langermann Drive, Kensington (close to Eastgate shopping centre) Johannesburg South Africa
  4. look at 2:36 in the clip. it has a closeup of the heads.
  5. when myranda transforms she retains any wounds that she has already suffered. what this means is that if she transforms into something that has a wound stat line of fewer wounds than she has suffered, she will die immediately upon transformation.
  6. With Ramos, the easiest way to get off the ground is to use his box set. It includes him, the executioner, and 2 swarms (6 spiders total). after that, you would need a totem, either the toolkit or the arachnid. The arachnid is good, but tricky to get much use out of (and card intensive) while the toolkit is basically tailormade to make ramos' spells easier to cast. like, all of them. Next, you need an electrical creation. Its a big part of Ramos' damage output. Just the one though - its unique. Alyce can be very nice, but it takes quite a bit of work to get much use out of her from what I've found. Perhaps swapping her for the mechanical rider would work out better ? the rider is much faster, and gives you a really good objective grabber and hard hitter throughout. finally, another thing to consider is Ramos' avatar. its released this month, and really makes him much more maneuverable, and just plain hard It also comes with a free spider swarm, the new sculpt, so you may want to pick that up if you are planning on expanding further. One thing to consider is that Ramos and his SS use varies hugely between his normal methods and when he avatars. Normally, he doesnt use all that many, so a cache of 3 - 5 is perfectly alright. When he avatars though, he eats soulstones like candy. if you are building a normal list, build to have about 32-33 soulstones worth of models. An avatar list, well, aim for about 29 soulstones worth of models, or plan on including the miner to go for more during the game.
  7. hey, if you are looking at making a wall, I would recommend thinking about the following: first off, get a thin sheet of plasticard to act as a centre for the wall. Next, use one of these: http://happyseppukumodelworks.bigcartel.com/product/standard-brick basically, roll out a thin layer of modelling putty on your plasticard and imprint the design on it. Let it dry, then do the same on the reverse side of the plasticard. When its dry, you then use a modelling knife to cut down the edges and take away individual bricks to give you the wall section. saves time doing the individual sculpting on each and every brick, plus it makes it easier to reproduce.
  8. Ah, I see where I was getting confused. cool. Makes him even more ossum now!
  9. Are you sure rathnard? The jackalope says that it can return when killed or sacrificed. When masters avatar, any totems attached are specifically "removed from the game". Since Killing and Sacrificing are specific things, would this work??
  10. guys, you seem to be forgetting that the only way you take the damage from this spell is if you have burning tokens. Now, I dont actually know of any way to give folks burning counters *without* them getting a chance to resist. Sure, it sounds like this can be evil, but to get a lot of use out of it requires a whole heap of set up from the kaeris player, and it can be limited at pretty much any point along the line.
  11. Unfortunately, your fellow player was spouting rubbish. If the belle is killed, the belle model is removed from play and a corpse counter is dropped (assuming there is a gravedigger on the table). Seamus then casts Arise on the corpse counter. He can use any Rotten Belle figure that isnt already on the table representing a different model.
  12. No, guys. read it again. 0 damage is not the same thing as No damage. what this means is that if a performer flips a 2 for damage, they would inflict 0 damage, but their poison would go off. If they flipped a black joker, then they do No damage, and nothing further happens.
  13. yup. thats it sorry if I came across wrong mate. but yeah, everything is living unless its specifically got something that says its not.
  14. I think I'll be adding Sue to it, but it also needs the bayou gremlin with the guitar - both the normal one as well as the puppetwars one. Cheers for the info Diehard so, if I want psychedelic its tye dye neon colours and wavy patterns, while disco is bright colours, long hair, vinyl, and gold accessories? I'd say disco would be easier to pull off - paint everything bright colours, but then seal it with gloss over the vinyl stuff and a few thin layers over everything. Definitely need a top hat and walking stick for the golem though...
  15. The twins are non living, but its because they are Nightmares. Nephilim, unless they have another trait that does it, are living models.
  16. Hi folks, I'm getting more and more convinced that Avatar Tina cries out for a disco themed cult of december crew. Seriously, I took a look at it, and I immediately saw the potential for a psychedelic disco Tina list: The Cult of december box set with dancing Tina, rainbow painted Gamin, and Avatar Tina with flares and a funky coloured hairdo to go with the affro. All I need is an idea for the ice golem and a silent one, and she'd be ready to rock out (literally...) Do any of you have any ideas for colour schemes for the golem and a silent one?
  17. this would not work, as you cannot override the one special forces restriction. Kaeris is special forces M&SU assets. The effigy is special forces Dolls. you can only ever have a single type of special forces in a crew.
  18. as far as I can see, the way its working is this: Alyce is trying to target Ramos with Burnout. It is at this point that Perfect Machine kicks in. Ramos decides he wants to be a construct. This would be the end of the interaction with Perfect machine. Burnout is cast. The result is that two effects are applied: Reactivate, and the "reduced to one wound at the closing phase" effect. When Ramos avatars, he discards all effects on him. If he has already used Reactivate, that leave only the "reduce to one wound at the closing phase" effect. Perfect machine doesnt allow ramos to ignore components of spells. He can choose to ignore Burnout entirely (as it only affects constructs), but he cannot choose to accept only the beneficial effects of the spell - its all or nothing. Now saying this, remember that rules marshals are the folks who are the only *official* source of rules clarifications. Everything I post is solely my own interpretation of whats going on.
  19. As Adran said, austringers dont need line of sight - thats different from being able to see through it means that Hans is actually really good at taking out things that might normally be hidden by talents such as Creepy Fog, Whiteout, or The Fog. Not only can he see through it (because they count as obscuring), he can also ignore it completely (due to one of his other abilities).
  20. Hans is currently the only model in the game that can see completely through obscuring terrain, as far as i can recall.
  21. it sounds good, but I would definitely recommend picking up extra spiders. I have yet to play a game with Ramos where I didnt have the chance to summon at least 2 or 3 spiders - Its his only (0) other than Linked In. I would also recommend taking the toolkit instead of the second spider - The toolkit gives you a lot more options, and makes summoning more spiders ridiculously easy. question for you - the Guardian - are you going to have that protect Joss or Ramos?
  22. Another good option is the mechanical Rider. As HeavensWrath said, Ramos' crew tends to suffer from slow movement in the first few turns of the game. This is counteracted by using fast minion choices, and is sorted at later points with avatar Ramos (mark of invention, as well as him being able to move like a batspider out of hell). One thing to be aware of though, is that Von Schill himself, and Collodi's crew in general, happen to be some of the fastest moving models in the game.
  23. Remember though, that it's only move *actions*, not move *effects*. That is, walks, charges and jumps are the only things that will trigger it. Pushes and the like will not trigger it (such as those, say, from One Fluid Motion).
  24. Calmdown....tended to be very definite about what he liked and didnt like. The hunter was one of the things he didnt like. The hunter has his uses. He's quite fast moving, and has ok damage. His big things are Ambush and Shadow - you can really ruin a couple of models' day with him if he activates first - with the plus flips of damage and attack from ambush, you can generally predict a hit against most things with his chain spear, and with the auto Drag trigger, plus giving anyone hit slow, he gives you quite a nice way of locking down the enemies pieces. One thing with Shadow is that the model targeted only has to be in LoS. every time they take a walk or charge action, the hunter gets to follow. Its a nice way to quickly get him up close and personal - use Shadow on something that is going to be moving a lot, and watch him get right up close and personal. The only major problem with him to be honest is that he doesnt have arachnid (from what I recall), which can slow him down somewhat. Remember though, that Ramos *will* have to pay an extra soulstone for him, so he's not altogether the cheapest construct out, and he will prevent you taking that lovely piece of loveliness that is Lazarus. He can, however, be useful in an avatar ramos list, as aRamos' group construct obey spell can be used to set up some nice combos and pulls - cast the spell, pull your target in with the hunter, and then watch everything else rip it to pieces.
  25. The problem is that the question has been asked on the rules forum a few times, but it has yet to be answered. It has big implications for both lazarus and hoffman, so its still up in the air. the post about him hijacking reactivate is assuming its ruled to be allowed. If it is, then yes, he would be. Burn out gives the target construct 2 effects: go down to 1 wound at the closing phase, and gain reactivate (as if it was listed on the stat card). So long as Lazarus copies it before Ramos activates the second time, he should have just reactivate, as he copies only the one thing at a time.
