  1. Gaining Ground 2015 Conversions & Proxies Original sculpts and conversions are allowed if the Organizer deems them to be accurate representations of the models portrayed. If using a model that was converted with manufactured pieces, no more than 33% of the finished model may be built using other game companies’ models, while the rest must be either wholly or a combination of original sculpt or Wyrd manufactured pieces, as determined by the Organizer. If a model has an officially released (non-beta) stat card available, but no model is yet released, the player may field a conversion, but it must be easily identifiable, as per the Organizer’s discretion. Besides using the above as a guideline in making your conversion, the main point to be aware of is it is always per the tournament organizers discretion. The best course of action is to email a photo of the conversion to the TO prior to the event seeking their approval.
  2. Highest Authority: When targeted with an Attack Action, this model may discard a card to make the attack flip suffer - to the flip. There is a timing sequence on page 32 for Opposed duels which states that Declare Soulstone use is done first. The defender must declare first followed by the attacker, page 33. Since the defending model is the model that is being targeted by the Attack Action, I would say that the defending model declares if it is using its ability before the declaration of soul stone is done by either model. Attacking and defending models have the use Soulstone ability. Defending model also has the Highest Authority ability. 1. I declare an Attack Action against your model that has Highest Authority ability. IE, I am targeting you. 2. You decide if your going to discard a card to make my attack flip suffer a negative twist. 3. You decide if your going to use a Soulstone for a suit to be added to your final duel total or to gain a positive twist the defense and give me a negative twist to damage. 4. I now decide if I am going to spend a Soulstone to gain a positive twist to the attack flip and or add a suit to the final duel total.
  3. Your title is "rules lawyer" and you suggest we should just pretend something works as intended. Dichotomy at it's best.
  4. Although on page 65 of the big book the caption under each deployment example it states; A player will deploy within.......... I agree that all of us deploy using page 73 "completly within" but I found it odd I never noticed until now that the book uses "within" on page 65 that gives very detailed illustrations of the various deployment zones and how players are supposed to deploy.
  5. Big rule book page 25. Soulstones: Hire a Crew: Each player will.............. Enhance a Duel: Some models can........... Reflip Initiative: A player may.............. Draw Additional Cards: A player may........ Prevent Damage: Some models can......... Devil's Deal Ability (Lucius): After this models spends a Soulstone, it may deal 3 damage which may not be reduced to a friendly model within 6 to add 1 Soulstone to this Crew's Soulstone Pool after resolving the current Action. When spending a Soulstone to draw additional cards it is not the model doing it but the player. Furthermore you are not resolving an action when spending a Soulstone to draw additional cards. So no, this ability cannot be used when spending a Soulstone to draw additional cards at the beginning of a turn. Whisper From the Other Place Ability (On Wings of Darkness Upgrade): When this model spends a Soulstone in the Draw Phase to draw cards, it may draw and discard three cards instead of two. As stated in previous replies to this thread I think we all agree that this upgrade is supposed to work when spending a Soulstone to draw additional cards at the beginning of the turn. The upgrade should not have mentioned the word model. It should have just said something like " when spending a Soulstone in the draw phase to draw cards, draw three cards instead of two". Or mention the word player instead of model. An example of an abilty that affects the draw phase and does not mention the word model; Primordial Magic: Rush of Magic; During the Draw Phase draw an additional card and then discard a card.
  6. I am going to send you a very detailed PM so as not to derail this thread further. When you read the list and the activation order and what gets done on turn 1 I think it will intrigue you. Kirk out..
  7. Stop selling all the christmas and birthday gifts I give you!
  8. Levi's crew can lock sonia into combat on turn 1 after she activates. I agree that her counter spell aura keeps Levi from going after her from a distance as well as franciscos +2/+2 and her own zero action +2 but he can very easily out activate your crew and move key models into melee with her. Now her and her crew have to spend AP getting her out of combat on turn 2. The DE can be given a 23 inch threat range on turn 1, with melee expert, a zero action and industrial nightmare at the end of the 23 inches. This model is usually the 8th or 9th model to activate in Levi's crew. I am not sure if you have ever seen how aggressive a Levi crew can be on Turn 1 and the amount of carnage and denial it can do. I have never had a problem shutting down Sonnia's blasting capability early in the game. Resulting in her swinging her sword wildly, which is fine by me. Terrain dependant of course when you add in flame walls.
  9. The hard counter to Levi is Perdita and Austringers along with adding in her totem and francisco. Full stones, her 3 standard upgrades and then add in a few other models of your choice with the remaining stones. I am not saying auto win but it will give Levi the most trouble because you can bring the Pressure on his waifs very early in the game. Perdita is also very difficult for Levi to remove because she will have stuborn and should be placed in cover causing Levi to spend a serious amount of resources and he may miss anyway going against wp 9. Usually Levi tries to snipe out Francisco but if he is placed carefully depending on the table terrain you can keep him safe for the first 2 turns. Victor took my Perdita crew to a 2nd place finish at Adepticon going 4-0-1. I was unable to attend on Saturday to pay it myself. He was going to play his Seamus belle spam list but I convinced him to run Perdita because I personally knew of 4 players that were going to play Levi. We agreed it gave him the best chance even though he is very good with Seamus and his belle's. Victor ran the same list for all 5 games. No changes. Joe our other buddy from our play group took 1st place as you know playing outcast. He played 2 games with Jack, 2 games with Levi and one game with Von Schill if my memory serves me correctly. One of the Levi games he hired 5 Belle's and tore up a Kirai player by luring everything away from her and her totems Ikiryo bubble. I have beaten Joe on at least two occasions at the LGS using Perdita against his Levi. I think Joe would agree it causes him the most problems. Maybe Ulix might give Levi a run as well. On paper he looks very powerful with how he synergies with the pigs. There are very few answers to Levi. The reason is he has so many answers to the problems most masters and or their crews have. He can ignore armor, hard to wound, hard to kill, soul stone prevention, hand out slow, kill you and make a pesky pita Abom out of you. He can gain positive twist to attack and damage for all 3 of his AP. He doesnt care that he gets wounded because as long as he has waifs on the board if he dies he removes all conditions, heals and comes back at the end of the turn. To keep him honest and playing semi defensive you have to be able to pressure those waifs. Which Perdita and the Austringers can do quite easily. A gremlin crew with the pigapult can potentially do it as well. But again these are very vew options. He is very mobile when you consider his zero action to be placed into btb with an undead or contruct 10 inches away. He can also pop out in btb with one of potentially 3 waifs that are standing in 3 different areas of the board. As Icemyn explained there is no detriment to jumping to A&D. I have run what I consider a very elite all outcast crew. I cant even recall every losing with it against masters from every faction. Ulix withstanding. I had to stop playing it because it was so stupid. Levi doesnt need to hire out of faction to be elite. I dont think Pariah of Iron and Bone are an issue at all. I do understand how they can be percieved as such because he can hire outstanding models from all the factions minus gremlins. Having said that I do agree nothing should be changed yet and the discussion should remain open. I too want to see what happens when Ulix and other models get released through out the year. Wave 3 can and will change things as well. Next year, regardless of how good Levi is, very few people might be playing him. Many will move on to the next thing. What I am happy the most about is Neverborn isnt always dominating the formats like they did in M1E. Neverborn is very good dont get me wrong but there are also answers to their crews in M2E and its not an auto win when someone puts the Dreamer or Lilith down on the table.
  10. You can mitigate Nekima's 0SS cache by hiring Huggy as the Henchmen that comes with a healthy 5SS or Bad Juju which also comes with 5SS. Then hire Nekima with fears given form, a Tot and the primordial magic. You need to punch your opponent in the face first and hard with this list since your down a scoring model with primordial, although rush of magic is useful. Also I agree that the Candy option is strong.
  11. And I had a game where I killed Misaki on Turn 1 by Tara delivering Killjoy to her face. Misdirection didnt even save her. Using your logic my opponent would have been better off not playing Malifaux that day. That particular game ended in a 1 point victory for me but my opponent actually had a shot at tie. Killing a master doesnt mean you win the game unless your scoring VP for doing it. You dont need to have any models left on the table to win the game. Certain strategy and schemes dependant of course. To say someone would be better off allowing an opponent 3VP just to keep their master alive doesnt understand the game. I have won many a game after losing my master early. The main reason was there wasnt any VP gained by killing my master. The secondary reason was I hired a solid crew that could still do some heavy lifting even without their leader.
  12. fyi this question was already asked and answered a few months ago. http://wyrd-games.net/community/topic/105476-scout-the-field/?hl=%2Bstand+%2Bshoot
  13. As mentioned above the Outcast faction has Tara with her zero action Lost Instants. Sometimes you need to tailor your list to the schemes available as well as the opponent's declared faction. If they declare Guild or Ten Thunders with deliver the message AND framer for murder available then you hedge by hiring Tara instead of Von Schill. Tara is going to have an easier time winning intiatives with her positive twist to initiative flips on her upgrade allowing her to bring up her zero action aura. Yes this costs you reactivate but it bones deliver the message. Now you will have the opposite grumbling from your opponent that they cannot score on deliver the message because of Tara's zero action aura & her positive twist to initiative flips.

The round will consist of 6 turns and last 75 minutes. Before the game begins, each corner of the table will be assigned one of the 4 suits (Ram, Crow, Tome, and Mask). The corners of the table will retain these suits for the entire game. Each player will select one Enforcer and attach up to one upgrade to the model. The upgrade must be something the Enforcer could have attached at the start of a normal game considering its declared Faction. (Leader only upgrades may not be selected, for example.) Players are not allowed to select any of the Riders as their Enforcer. All players use their own deck and will have a 4 card hand instead of the standard 6. At the start of the game each player will flip a card to determine the deployment order. If two or more players are tied they re-flip amongst themselves. The player with the highest deployment flip must go first followed by the next player with the next highest deployment flip and so on. The first player to deploy may place his Enforcer anywhere on the table following the established rules for the terrain being used. Each player after that then places their model anywhere on the table but at least 6 inches away from another model. Players will then reshuffle, draw their hand of 4 cards and flip for turn 1 initiative. Once the initiative order has been established, players may choose to cheat one card from their hand face down in front of them in an attempt to change their initiative position. The player with the lowest initiative number from the original initiative flip chooses to cheat or not cheat a card face down and this continues in order all the way up to the player that had the highest original initiative flip. Once everyone has had a chance to place or not place a card from their hand face down then all players that chose to cheat a card then flips their card face up at the same time. The initiative order is then re-seeded and the turn begins with the player that now has the highest initiative flip followed by the next highest and so on. When a model is killed or sacrificed that model is removed from the table. All damage and conditions are removed. Its upgrade is reattached unless the upgrade was discarded during a previous activation in order to utilize a printed ability or the player was forced to discard the upgrade by another models ability. If a player's model was killed or sacrificed before it had a chance to activate on its initiative turn order then the player flips a card from his deck on his initiative turn and places that model within 6 inches of a corner of the table based on the suit of the card flipped. After the model is placed it may activate as normal. When a model would be buried during a turn the models controller may choose for it to be sacrificed instead. Any models that are buried at the end of a turn become unburied at the start of the next turn. Any models that are not on the table at the end of a turn because they were killed or sacrificed are placed on the table at the start of the next turn. During the initiative flip on the new turn the models that were no longer in play at the end of the previous turn are placed within 6 inches of a corner of the table based on the suit of their flipped initiative card. Models are placed on the table before players choose to cheat a card from their hand in an attempt to change their initiative order. If a model gains the reactivate condition during a turn that model will have the opportunity to reactivate after all players have activated. If multiple models gain the reactivate condition during a turn they will use their initiative order to determine the order in which the models reactivate. Any Actions, Abilities, or Triggers which summon models are considered to be "blank" (they may not be used and have no effect on the game as if they were not printed on the model). If a model is buried at the end of turn 6 it will count as killed. Enforcer Brawl Scoring: At the end of 6 turns, the player with the highest VP wins. Players can score VP in the following manner; A player scores 3VP when it kills or sacrifices another model. A player scores 1VP when it kills or sacrifices another model with a higher soulstone cost including the cost of any attached upgrade. A player scores 1VP for dealing 1 or more damage to an undamaged enemy. A player scores 1VP for dealing 1 or more damage to an undamaged enemy with a higher soulstone cost including the cost of any attached upgrades. A player scores 1VP for having their model still in play on the table at the end of a turn. A player scores 1VP for having their model within 6 inches of the center of the table at the end of a turn. A player loses -3VP each time their model is killed or sacrificed. Enforcer Brawl Schedule 4:30PM – 5:45PM – Round 1 (Two Tables, 4-8 players each) If players are agreeable we will play one more round or else the tournament will end at 6PM. 6:00PM – 7:15PM – Round 2 TBD Awards 6PM OR 7:30PM
  15. Thanks Dirial. I like that clean explanation. If it doesnt say "push in any direction" then the pushes are center to center. That should end the confusion and arguements with all of the abilities and triggers, etc worded slightly different when a model is pushed. Thanks Adran for your input as well.
  16. Just to clarify, does this include a model that is directed to push into BTB with another model? Is it center to center or can the model being pushed, push in a straight line but on an angle so it touches some part of the model in BTB when it finishes? It makes a difference because using straight angles you can push three 30mm models into BTB with another model but if you had to push them center to center and depending on where the models are positioned on the board it could be harder or impossible for all three to end in BTB with the model that forced them to push. I ask with Montressor in mind. His trigger "Pull em Tight" doesnt contain the words "Towards", "Away" or "Directly".
  17. It's the old philosophy; you keep asking the question until you get a different result.
