  1. It has been pointed out a couple of times already in this thread, but Poison does Wounds, not Damage. Things like Hard to Kill work on Damage, and thus have no effect with Poison. It makes no difference if the Poison counters are taken as a lump sum or individually.
  2. My vote is for for a Special Forces book including a gremlin pirate crew.
  3. I never worried too much about trying to grow my Tots. I wouldn't write them off though - they're cheap, speedy, significant models and are great for most objective based games.
  4. Glad I'm not the only one. I was putting this together today and there's no indication on the packaging as to which is left/right or which end goes on the backpack. I was tempted to leave them off or just add my own.
  5. Technically you should be declaring triggers before moving on to damage flips, etc (RM, p.28). I usually do it when I flip the attack card: "my total is currently 15 with a critical strike", etc. Same when an opponent asks what damage I'll be doing: "1/3/5, but +1 for the critical". It's easy enough and makes things clear. It annoys me too when I let an attack through and suddenly I'm hit with extra damage or a further attack from a trigger that wasn't mentioned during the initial duel. I usually let it go once or twice and then ask my opponent politely that they declare triggers earlier. If they keep doing it then a "sorry but you didn't declare that trigger" usually gets the point across.
  6. Is there a pool size, or is the fixed faction the only limit?
  7. I'm not really a tournament guy either, but the Malifaux events always seem casual and fun, and it's a great way to get a few games done.
  8. Welcome! You sound fairly close to me too - I'm also near Blacktown. There's a Malifaux event at MOAB this weekend if you want to come and play or spectate.
  9. I pop in from time to time, but there doesn't seem to be much going on most times.
  10. If it happens in one game, then "meh", whatever. If it happens again and you really think they're cheating or if you just don't enjoy playing against them (because of bad sports/no sense of humour/whatever) - then just don't play them again. I know it can be easier said than done, but it's a game: both players are supposed to enjoy it.
  11. Gunfighter lets you make melee strikes with your ranged weapon so I'd think using it in a Charge would be fine.
  12. Most (maybe all) of the book 1 models have their updated stat cards available on the download page. You'll want to be using these versions instead of the original book anyway. In fact, given that the rules and stats in book 1 are not really valid any more, the fluff is about the only reason to buy the original rule book. Hopefully Wyrd will get around to putting all the fluff in a standalone book one day.
  13. Yep - that's how it works. She can't use Whirling Death on disengaging models though; she just gets a normal strike. As Ozzit mentioned though - don't forget you don't get a disengaging strike against models that Push out of range. She also can't draw LoS though other models, so she can't strike a model that's behind another. Given Collodi and Co's tricks with pushing each other they should have too much trouble escaping.
  14. Hmmm Father's Day and my wedding anniversary ... what was wrong with the original date?
  15. The fog isn't terrain. Shouldn't it would block Hans' LoS the same way it blocks Lilith's Master of Malifaux?
  16. They can. The trick is: you kill them early on; they activate; a model friendly to the Stitched kills the Stitched again (not hard with only 1 Wd); Stitched gets Reactivate and has a second go. I still try to take them out early - it's generally easier before they get their Fog up and if it makes another model waste an action to give it Reactivate then so much the better. Killing them from range is better as it means they're using actions to get to you (and less actions attacking). Stubborn and Immune to Influence characters are a good choice to send after them since their nastiest attacks are Wp based. Also try and keep some high cards handy to cheat the Gamble flips - it's nice when you can send the damage back to the Stitched.
  17. Man - almost half a day and no response! What's wrong with people ...? Possibly no response as the stat cards all come with the models. I don't think there have been any updates to the avatars so there's no real need to release updated cards. It's possible they'll be available via the store eventually, but since the models have only just come out I doubt anyone's in a rush for spares. What happened to the original cards? Go through the wash?
  18. Got mine today! Good stuff. When are the next versions?
  19. Don't forget that any Dg from a spell does full effect to spirits, so: Papa's Take Ya With Me; Santiago's Leadstorm; etc. (assuming Kirai hasn't done her sacrifice thing to ignore blasts)
  20. I use Bunnings primers for bigger models (40K tanks) - probably a bit thick for Malifaux though. +1 - this is the best method. Does a lot of your shading for you.
  21. A model cannot target itself with an attack (which includes abilities/spells with a resist) unless the attack specifically says it affects friendly models (p.18). This was a change in the Rules Manual and means (among other things) that Lilith can no longer cast Transposition on herself.
  22. Gamble Your Life is a Wp duel - so a defender with Immune to Influence will ignore it, and defenders with Stubborn get their +2, etc. Of course, the real question is whether this means once GYL is declared, does the Stitched automatically lose, or does the whole thing just not happen?
  23. It's a bit confusing. I always thought a ranged spell was a spell with a range, and a ranged attack (spell or weapon) had the symbol, but I was corrected on it a few times. Now I play it as described here - only spells with the symbol are ranged spells. I still can't find anything in the Rules Manual that says that though.
