  1. I don't find that to be true at all. Ressers defense isn't as bad as the perception that it is. [The below isn't pointed at you. ] In any case, I think the Jokers work just fine. The claim is that it's easier to pull it on HtW, but what about when it's in your hand? Unless you've got soulstones to burn, it's going to stay in your hand on HtW models, generally. I don't get the argument. Take the jokers out of your deck if you want predictability. I'm not helping at the moment, but I'm getting sorta sick of checking threads, especially on balance or rules issues, and it keeps devolving into yet another joker 'discussion'. Wyrd made a genius mechanic, created a whole new system, with fantastic models and story, and you guys blow right past that and keep tripping over the dead horse out back.
  2. Don't discount Sonnia against Neverborn. She works very well in certain strategies, and even though she is touted as anti-Arcanist, she has some good tools against Neverborn as well.
  3. I made custom counters for a lot of the book 1 stuff, when I get home I'll get a link posted. I think they may also be linked in the Malifaux resources thread that is stickied. Edit: in the Malifaux Downloads stickied thread, go to that link in the first post. I created specific counters and templates for most of the book 1 stuff, including Flame Wall/Burst templates. It's called Templates and Tokens on Sven's page, if I recall.
  4. Constructive feedback thread which contains a thorough spreadsheet of changes, only one of which involves Jokers, but look at the last several pages of this thread.
  5. You guys that don't like Jokers changing results of damage have a simple solution: stop using them. I can't believe another thread got derailed by this.
  6. Reaper actually makes very nice zombie models that would work very well. I bought 2-3 blisters of them.
  7. I missed this thread, but I'd like to throw my hat in the ring. One question: I take part in writing contests on other forums, where the winner calls the next theme. Who will be giving the theme/items for future contests?
  8. Does immune to influence prevent spirits from attacking a model's Willpower instead of Defense?
  9. I know that Fantasy Shop in St. Charles has stock. Game Nite, which is my home store, plans to carry it once they make room, hopefully in the next few weeks. Miniature Market carries it, but I'm not sure they have it displayed in their retail store. I can't speak to the Illinois side, not sure if stores there carry it or not.
  10. It's absolutely fair, as this is exactly what testers should be doing, trying to break things, not 'oooh aaaahing' at the cool new stuff. Certainly testers don't share all the blame, I think part of this is due to Wyrd still being new to game design, in large part, when you compare them to other companies. I think maybe they're still working the kinks out on how to have an effective test that can find the majority of this before things like the Dreamer and his minions come out.
  11. http://www.reapermini.com/figurefinder#detail/03471 There's my other zombies.
  12. I bought two blisters of MZ, and then a blister of Reaper zombies in the same scale, just for some variety.
  13. Don't discount the Stalkers reflect magic trigger, that has won me games. For me there's no comparison, Stalkers get this easy.
  14. Sorta late to this, but I just had to comment on your Lady J. I absolutely love the red, but I think white hair would have really popped! In any case, great paint jobs!
  15. You didn't smash any theory based on that report.
  16. Good read man, thanks for the report! Stupid Dreamer...
  17. Generally speaking, early game Sonnia is not going to be hurling lots of Flame Bursts, and that's the only time the Executioner will -again, generally- need that support. Personally, I've had lots of success with the Executioner once I figured out how to use him, and he runs just as well with Sonnia as he does with Perdita. YMMV, of course, he's not always an auto-include in my lists, but he's always an option.
  18. He's no slower than most of the other Guild models.
  19. Personally, I'm still a fan of the Executioner, especially over the Peacekeeper, with Sonnia. When I first started using the Executioner it seemed like he always died quietly before doing anything, but if used correctly and screened, he can be a real pain once he gets up close. It's another cause of concern for your opponent: take out the Executioner closing down on me, or worry about Sam out on my flank? You don't see him in many lists these days, since he's not new and shiny, but I still find him very effective.
  20. Not sure what ever gave you the idea you were respected? And yes, I'm entirely kidding.
  21. That elril always was the illogical sort!
  22. Cornelius Piper was having a very bad day, and it was still young. His Clockworks shop had been robbed several times over the past few weeks, and now he had to endure another hour-long interrogation at the hands of a Guild Guard Captain. The officer was accompanied by a cloaked man, or what Cornelius thought was a man; he wore dark, long robes, and his face was hidden in shadow, no matter how the light from the room shone on him. He made Cornelius very uncomfortable, and he made it a point to avoid the cloaked man's gaze. "Are you sure you lock the shop doors every night?" The Guild officer asked, eyeing the empty glass display case beside him. His gaze lingered on the case for a few seconds, and then he looked at Cornelius sharply, irritated that he did not answer him immediately. For his part, Cornelius was getting a tad tired answering the same questions; his answers had been no different the past four instances, surely the Guild had kept records of his interrogations? "Of course, like I have already told your office before. I ensure the cabinets and doors are locked every night before I leave. Surely--" The Captain interrupted him, "And yet your doors, your cabinets, are never left open after this thievery? You think it odd that thieves would take the time, or even have the time, to lock the doors after themselves?" Cornelius sighed. He knew he had no answers for these men, and they would not accept any that he did give. He felt the suspicion, like an aura emanating from the Guild officer. The cloaked man was now slowly examining the store and its fixtures; the Captain had already gone over the cabinets, the cases and desks, and found nothing out of the ordinary. Cornelius had the fleeting vision that the cloaked man was looking at things that weren't there, as he touched nothing, but stared intently wherever he went. Cornelius quickly looked away from him; he was getting an ill feeling in the pit of his stomach. "Yes, Captain, I do think it odd, but I leave it to experts, such as yourselves, to solve these perplexing issues." Ordinarily he would not have been so brazen with his replies, especially considering the rather large, armed man in front of him, but this had been tiresome from the start; Cornelius hid a smile as the man gave him a sour look. "Indeed, good sir," the Captain said, clearly keen to be on his way. "And while I agree that it would be best left to the Guild, we are, rather unfortunately, undermanned at the moment." Cornelius raised his brows. He had heard whispers of the nighttime activities, Guild raids on mines and offices around Malifaux. Undermanned, or is this beneath the notice of the mighty Guild? Of course, he did not give voice to his question; outright defiance would do no good. The Guild officer continued. "I will spare a patrol if I am able, so they may check your storefront on their rounds, but I cannot guarantee anything. You may be best off to bring in some help of your own." "Thank you for your generous assistance, Captain. Please have a good day, and I would be most grateful for your continued efforts." Cornelius knew no such effort would be forthcoming; he was on his own for the time being. "Of course, Mr. Piper. Do call on us if you have further issues." And with that the Guild captain left, closing the lacquered wood door of the storefront--and his case, most likely--behind him. Cornelius Piper had not noticed, but the cloaked man had gone as well. Odd, he had not seen him leave.
