New Master - What Would You like to See?

We don't need more so called "out-there" stuff , we need something holy and disciplined that punches this "out-there" creatures in their throat. And with holy I mean a blessed sword and a tesla gun and with disciplined I mean a bunch of fanatical, elitist soldiers who scream  "DEUS VULT !!!" when they charge into battle.

Oh, hell, no! Fanatics are a duel-edged sword. They don't work with others, if those other are shady in any way. And in MAlifaux, most people are very shady. Also, other game systems have quite enough of those cool "fire-and-brimstone" factions.

I very much like the Carnival and Street Kid ideas, and would like something more Tesla-Lighnting-Style than Ramos is. And the University of Transmortis could be extended, too.

I'd like to see an Arcanist/Outcast Dream master. Where as the Dreamer brings forth creatures from his dreams the Dream master goes into other peoples dreams. A debuffer/buffer type master. He might make you cover in fear, get you lost in a labyrinth inside your mind or feel invincible or think that you can fly (or make you able to fly!). He would bring a Raven totem (multiple perhaps? Seem like a theme with the bird totems), and lucid dreamers and desperate men desperate for their dreams to come true.

Sounds pretty damn awesome!

Resser / Arcanist dual-faction would be great. I like the idea of a sort of "brain in a jar", maybe avatar can be a big suit like Hannah. Reminds me of Futurama and Nixon....

Brain in Jar could be telepathic/telekinetic - giving him control over undead through obey sort of actions.

Resser / Gremlin - Grandpa Jo - Mah Tucket's long suffering husband... Somer's dad...so old that he is infused with the eternal energies of the bayou... Could summon clay golem's, undead croc's, mosquito swarms, etc... spirit-animated elemental stuff - constructs rather than undead? or both....  maybe his avatar is he becomes the "gremlin swampthing".

Totally down for Albus as an Academic master in Resser/Arcanists. He DOES need to be a brain in a jar, and his Avatar DOES need to be akin to a robot working off of that intelligence through a direct, physical link to that brain (think "Treehouse of Horror II" from the Simpsons, but Wyrd-er - for reference: http://www.hwdyk.com/q/images/treehouseofhorror2_13.jpg).

I also like the idea of the Neverborn/Outcast master with the camera which traps peoples' souls inside. Perhaps mechanically it is a more defensive/all-or-nothing master, depending on player's choice of playstyle (I'm thinking the master gives a model whose soul is stolen a condition that says "This model cannot be reduced below 1 wound. When the enemy Leader is killed, sacrifice this model." which could be used on either allies or enemies to whatever effect works best).

As for a Gremlin/Resser master (which I agree completely with in that it DOES need to happen), though, we have Zeek. Wyrd should try to get the rights to the webcomic "A Gremlin's Luck" and Zeek, the main character. He's been featured before in the Chronicles; it shouldn't be terribly difficult to speak to the writer about obtaining rights to that character... I do think Zeek is the right call, though.

In regards to my own ideas, I want a Neverborn/10T master who has been dabbling in demon invocations and interacts a ton with Oni (and, for the sake of difference from Lynch, is 1) Asian, and 2) primarily 10T), a Guild/Arcanist master whose premise is that he or she is a Guild agent who is infiltrating the Arcanists because they suspect something (which would allow a furthering of the story!), but somehow is turned into a being of pure elemental/alchemical energy, a Gremlin/Outcast master who is too smart for his own good, and whose contagious intelligence has been seen as a disease resulting in him being thrown out of the Bayou, and a 10T/Guild master to round that out.

Any ideas on that last one? :P

I would love to see dr smedley as a duel master for guild and maybe arcanists. He could be great for giving out conditions. And maybe some synergy and rule to hire nurses. Imagine him running round the board handing out conditions with a bunch of straight jacketed patients!

Well. I for one most certainly approve this message. That Dr Smedley is a real card.

Handsome too.

Neverborn/Resurrectionist, Sweeney Todd inspired

Abilities along the lines of "I want you bleeders" and "No one's in the chair" that pull targets closer to him.  Should have a "instant death" trigger akin to Howard or Karina.  Perhaps "You sir, too sir" which provides a pull after he kills a target.  Make him tougher to kill in melee so the point is to get him stuck in.

Mrs. Lovett henchman - focuses on using Corpse tokens to provide heals to the crew.  "Worst Pies in Malifaux" ability to hand out poison or some other debuff.

I'm thinking they'd work well as Mimics set up to violently dispatch the humans who have done so much wrong to Malifaux.  Resser side mainly because I can see some benefit from animating the victims you don't eat (plus allows for a variety of undead nonsense to join them - undead priest, lawyer, grocer, what have you :P)

You could pull a bit of a Von Schill and have the totem be "The Chair" - mainly a buffer totem, I'd envision.

I haven't given this much thought, bear with me :P

I like this idea. Another possible totem inspiration would be that kid who attached himself to Mrs. Lovett - I forget his name.

How about The Kern'l.

Grem/Res master riding a fried chicken! Can hire undead versions of RR and pigs. He could have a healing (''Erbs), a buff ( Spicez), a lure (Fing'r linkin) and a blast (Deep Fried).

Hey...they actually produced drunken kung fu poison ninjas...there are no boundaries now.

With Gamin having their own keyword in 2E, a Gamin based master could be interesting.

Heck, even just a Gamin-support-based Henchman/Enforcer would make me happy (akin to the idea of a Witchling Handler conceptually, for example), and tempt me into taking up the Arcanists.

actually last night after talking to some fellow players, came up with a neverborn teddy master, he can take teddies, that 4 armed bear, and some sort of teddy voodoo doll I guess, henchman can be some twisted version of Teddy Ruxpen or Winnie the Pooh, or Paddington ( the new creepy one). and he'd wear a bear suit, and his name....Teddy Roosevelt

Give it even more thought, then make stats for them. I will play that master if it kills me (heh).

I've been working on an idea in my head for a dual faction Gremlin/Guild master. He was just an ordinary feller, living on the edge of the bayou with his kin, when one day he stumbled on a bunch of those wierd glowing rocks the humans like so much. Being smarter than the average gremlin, he managed to work out a deal with the Guild where he would sell them to glowy rocks and they would not shoot him or his (since he cleverly didn't tell them exactly where the rocks were). Finding himself with more money than it was safe to keep around his bayou neighbors, our intrepid gremlin made the only logical decision: he loaded up his kin and he moved to Malifaux. Now he and his family live quite comfotably in the new construction zone (their new neighbors are less than comfortable with it) and our gremlin - let's call him Jeb - does some work for hire guiding Guild patrols safely through the bayou.

Units would include Jeb hisself, the master, his totem, a put-upon Guild official tasked with keeping the gremlin family out of trouble so their soulstone keeps flowing to the Guild, Granny, Jeb's cantankerous mama, and various other members of Jeb's clan.

This sounds like it could be a really cool master. I love the concept! Hopefully one day we might just see a Gremlin/Guild master.

I always wanted to draft up a Stormchaser crew. It would be an Arcanist fraction of academics, all from prestigious earth universities, who have come to Malifaux to find and study the Maelstrom, a huge and powerful storm mentioned in legends. The crew consists of the professor, the madam, interns and storm gamin.

The professor's powers revolve around prediction and calculation, specifically boosting the speed and defence of his minions. He has an ancestral time-piece that gives him some limited magical powers and offensively manipulates the activation order of others. His primary power is predicting where and when lightning will strike - casting a spell to plot a point on the battlefield. The madam is the finance behind the venture; she brings a more offensive manipulation of others, along with a large and impressive gun that is at odds with her beautiful dress and feminine look. The interns are scurrying workers who carry around apparatus used to measure and study the storms - lightning conductors and such like. During the turns, lightning will strike these conductors which can be passed via the conductors to a target. Lastly, there are also the Storm gamin; capricious creatures who specialise in ranged attacks and a damaging aura that even affects friendly models.

Play style is quite unique; the interns need to set up the conductors so that the professor can channel a lightning strike through them and affect enemy models / heal storm gamin / achieve other effects.

Other potential minions could include an engineer who can affect the conductors and provide some melee capability; a totem apprentice who carries the professors papers and a big-game hunter relative of the madam who has come along to hunt the rare game of Malifaux.

Imagine how cool it would be to hit your enemies with lightning bolts!

Gremlin Bodger (Gremlins/Arcanist)

Slightly Mad and very lucky/unlucky - constructs he takes have a tendency to explode/ shut down or go into a frenzy.
Make him some kind of blundering mad man mixing good ole' Gremlin Shamanism with the black magic of machinery that humans are so fond of.

Happy Mask Salesman (Neverborn - Mimic)

Mechanics swirl around face stealing, which further enhances mimic capabilities of avoiding death at the hands of the other crew.  "Healing Song" ability that can either damage an enemy model or heal a friendly Mimic.  "You've met with a terrible fate, haven't you?" which gives an enemy model a condition that causes them to drop a friendly (to the Salesman) scheme marker at their death.

I wouldn't mind seeing him with Manipulative and Chatty, but I'm guessing that'd be absurd on a Master-level model :P

I would love to see a Native Faction.  Once flushed out, you could have a wide variety of models.  You could have a very feral looking crew, a brave hunting party, shamans, 'spirit animals' and even some 'looted guild' weapons.  Since there can be tears all over the world, it 'could' make sense to have tribal shamans that could send braves into the rips as a 'rite of passage' but in reality, they are going to Malifaux.  I know there would be a lot of back work but I would love love love to see what Wyrd could do with a Mayan Shaman and like a Blackfoot warrior.

Cheers,

KT

Rezzer Circus Theme

Everyone but the master died in a fire started by the Penguins. In so much pain, s/he became a Rezzer and brought them back (minus the Penguins). Ringmaster as a Henchman if not the Master. Freakshow can be included. But I think it would be interesting to have other things like acrobats and animal trainers. Who isn't going to love a zombie lion tamer enforcer and undead lions to go with it? It could give Rezzers a burning crew who summons undead on fire.
