redben
Coming from a Warhammer background, Citadel are my default choice but I'm curious if there's anything better out there. What do people use?
dsmiles
P3 has better metallics than Citadel. Vallejo Air Metallics are even better. I use primarily Citadel, but only because I haven't run out yet. I'm slowly converting to P3 for regular colors and inks, and Vallejo Air Metallics for metallics. Huang Da Wei
Vallejo paints for me, best I have used in over 30 years
bucket_boy101
Vallejo, both game and model colour, and Citadel. Have yet to pick up P3, as I only want Menoth paints for my Protectorate of Menoth for warmahordes.
Stern
Vallejo paints for me, best I have used in over 30 years I must second you on this! The range of colours and quality is phenomenal
Mister Monkey
I use mainly citadel .... but given the cost they are now am looking to trade over to coat d' arms once they run out ..... never tried P3

Bellygrub
I mainly use citadel and P3. I have a few Vallejo paints but I'm not to fond of them. Sacriledge I know.
dsmiles
Ooo...also: Secret Weapon weathering powders! They have this amazing line of rust colors. (Too bad I can't find a good green-grey-white for the patina on bronze...)
Bigkid
I use the Foundry Paint System. I've tried a few ranges, including citadel, but I've found Foundry to be the best. Excellent coverage, massive range and reasonably priced. There was a good thread around somewhere concerning 'liquid pigments' and some such new fangled nonsense (sounded like witchcraft to me...). BloodthornZero
Going against the grain here, but I am a fan of Reaper Master Series paints. I like that they come in triads (Base, Shadow, Highlight). Blend and thin well, build up color in layers. I use some P3, Vallejo, and GW foundations, but Reaper MSP is my base. Radium
Citadel, Coat d'Arms and Vallejo. Different brands produce different kinds of colours, for different paintjobs.
Copernicus
I use the following Vallejo game and model (not too fond of their metallics though) GW (especially, their washes and metallics) P3 Reaper Master Series at some point, I'd like to try some Andrea paints and the reaper HD I think they are all pretty good paints, it depends on your personal preference. I really like watery fluid paints so I may lean slightly towards reaper and P3. But I use all those brands often. Sometimes it depends on the colour I want, sometimes my mood, sometime just whatever is there. (unless it's a wash or metallic, then I lean heavily towards GW as my personal pref)
Mako
I'm a vallejo fan as well, they handle nicely and thin out beautifully. The Reaper triad sets sound good, but I now tend to use one colour as a shade and one as a highlight for everything. In my Kirai crew, every colour is shaded with night blue and highlighted with bone

CrazyCarl
I used Citadel paints because that's what my FLGS sells and they're by no means bad, and the little bit extra I pay is to help support the store, so no big.
Doctor Amos
I bounced around a bit, but I find that I like Citedel the best of those I've used thus far. However, I use clearly-not-intended-for-minis paints, as well. Metalic oil-based paints are fun.
LonelyPath
I use Citadel. I also have some Tamiya paints but never used them since I can't get the lids off!
Dolomyte
I use games workshop primer, (p3 and army painter are both garbage) and then a mixture of Vallejo game and model series paints, with the occasional GW paint.
dsmiles
I use games workshop primer, (p3 and army painter are both garbage) LOL. I use a Rustoleum primer. It gives a nice, plastic-like coating that holds paint like a champ.
Cadilon
I tried Vallejo but am one of the few people I know who cant stand it .... ended up selling the lot. What didn't you like about it? I've only used Vallejo and have been happy with it. But since its the only thing I've used I have no basis for comparison.

But since its the only thing I've used I have no basis for comparison. I personally find the squeeze bottles annoying .... also I went to make up a wash by mixing paint and water and when I applied it it ended up stripping my paint back to bare metal, happened a couple of times till i grew weary of it.Figured it was just a primer issue till my girlfriend did the same thing using a different primer. Maybe it is just me because a lot of my friends use vallejo and swear by it .

Mister Monkey
As I say all my friends use it and all look at me strange when I tell that story .... could just be the range is not as forgiving to my rough and ready rapid style of painting
daemonkin
Have used GW (Citadel and Coat D'Arms supplied), Rackham, P3 and Vallejo. They all come in useful but I am slowly converting to P3 and Vallejo for everything except GW washes. I love my Magic Washes - devlan mud and badab black. D.
