n0signal
Well, I've still got to update my "Bacon and 'Shine" painting blog with the Bayou Gremlins that I've finished (I'll get around to updating eventually). I've two more Gremlins and the 'Skeeters to do, but in the meantime I've started, slowly, on my Zoraida crew to accompany my Gremlins. First up is the Voodoo Doll: As you can see, I've ripped off Sneek's idea of painting the rag dolls in faction colours; I thought it would be cool if the Voodoo Doll was "in charge" of them all and passed Zoraida whichever one she needed to use at the time. I've also started work on my Silurids, only one done so far, but you can see the scheme I'm going for (it's a reverse of the purple/green theme):
Peterdita
Damn! I started me Silruids in an opposite color pattern, but I like your better! crap, oh well. very cool voodoo doll as well.
Justin
Neat models, good job. I like the bases, and I like your use of Zoraida's smaller voodoo dolls on her totem. I may need to steal that idea. I also like the different scheme you chose on the silurid, it makes sense that they would be able to change colors, so why not purple? Looks sharp. Gargathor
Well done sir! Truly characterful. Nice schemes too.
DeafNala
VERY COOL STUFF! I LOVE the VooDoo Doll surrounded by all the little dolls...VERY CREATIVE. Nice choice of colors on all the minis. VERY WELL DONE! :fing02:
Major_Gilbear
I think the Voodoo Doll looks a bit colourful for my tastes, but that Silurid is fantastic! Looking forward to seeing it in person, heh
n0signal
Thanks for the comments . I've started work on Zoraida now (well, it's a proxy model... you'll see); I've painted her "voodoo mask" face paint and it's looking good, I'm just a bit iffy about the colours on the rest of her - I put this down to never having painted black skin before. mriverakc
Your minis kick ass. I love the vibrant colors.
DireTrollJake
Nice minis all around. Love the extras on the dolls base.
n0signal
Here's my Zoraida proxy that I've been working on. Pics aren't great; she has "voodoo mask" face paint which looks great IRL. There is also a translucent drip of poison coming off her pin which doesn't show up well on here. Achilles
I'm sorry dude, I can't see the pics?... EDIT: Ah! There we go! Like the goo and the facepaint. Very pirates of the Carribean. Do you have a link to that mini? It looks like Ron and Bones but I could be mistaken... Nicely done! themurphyfella
Love the painting and the consistent basing. The alternative Z miniature is really nice. Topless old people are disturbing
Nathan Caroland
Not sure how I missed this thread - good stuff! Got a picture of them all together?
RitualNet
I love them! I haven't decided what colour for the lizards, I picked up a couple of shades of green to see what they were like though. So Zoraida comes with four mini voodoo dolls? Darn! I could have based them up individually and used them as the totem. I think it would be so much more creepy to have this little stuffed doll walk up and stab you in the foot with a poisoned needle. n0signal
Heh, Thanks for all the comments guys - I'd forgotten about this thread completely. The last thing I finished painting for my Zoraida crew was a second Silurid, which I'll post up on here later along with a WIP group shot- I've still got to put any paint on Bad Juju and the third Silurid is about 40% done. It's funny actually, because I've been painting Infinity miniatures lately and have fallen behind with my Malifaux Battle Challenge on TGN (I'm painting a greyscale Leveticus Crew) but I'd been debating dropping everything else and finishing the Zoraida crew anyway, so that I'd have at least one fully-painted crew finished. I think the resurrection of this thread might spur me on.
RitualNet
I can't wait to see both the rest of your Zoraida crew and the Levi, the greyscale sounds very interesting!
Trash
I dig that Zoraida Model. I understand she's old and wrinkly, but the lack of shirt was the reason I didn't buy her. I prefer my old Voodoo Gypsy women like "Midnight in the Garden of Good and Evil", not "Toothless Grandma showing her goods to the Ice Cream Man". U.S. Male
Those look great. I love the vodoo dolls. And the alternate Z is way more pleasant to look at.
