"Final Duel Total"

Hello All, had a question about Ramos and his Repulsion df trigger. it states on the card that he gets +1 def per tome in the final duel total(the final not His final). am i understanding it right? is it counting my opponents suit as well as my own?

No, just his.  Each player has a total after all - it is the comparison of these totals that allows you to see who has won a particular duel.  main rulebook p.32

I've always wondered about this - how do regular models get more than 2? I know the Riders build up suits on their cards, but is there a way for Ramos (to continue this example) to get more than the 2 tomes?

 

He'd get one for the card and one on his card (i assume), how would he get a third?

He can buy a suit of choice by eating a Soulstone. When declaring a action, a Master or Henchmen can use a soulstone to gain on the flip, or a suit of your choice. (Or spend 2 Soulstones for both)

 

So, thats the way to get a third.

Alrighty, Thanks for the responce! yea i was reading it as The final duel total, instead of His final duel total.

so if you buy the extra flip  it counts both cards?

no no no no, if you buy a flip, it counts the card you choose. If you buy a suit, it counts both the flipped card and the bought suit.

Guild Riflemen can get three.  One on the flip, two from different abilities on their card.  KABOOM.

So, final duel total with a 13 and a Soulstone for another would be a final duel total of 8 + 13 + = 21 :tome

Yup, Ramos cannot have 3x  for his Df trigger. He can get one from the Flip / Cheating and another from the SS. He would need to have a  on his Df in order to gain 3. 

 

For summoning Arachnids however then Praetordragoon has it spot on.

In theory, a future model or scenario could give him an additional tome.

Also, his defense trigger increases the final duel total, not his defense, so if he has protection of metal, burning a stone and flipping a tome gives him effectively Df8. Df6 + 2.
