  1. Any word on why some of the July and August model releases have not reached retailers? Some models have seen stock, others have yet to and are way overdue.
  2. Thanks for the update @Kyle. I can understand your explanation for the underestimation of demand, but what is the reason for certain July and August releases never even getting to retailers? For example, most of the Effigy/ Fate model boxes are mostly in stock with retailers, but the Brutal Fate Box is still MIA, no retailers have even seen one box. So some models and product that should have been long released have not been delivered to retailers. Any idea on these items?
  3. Any idea what Minions the Dashel core box will contain? Guard patrol maybe?
  4. Could you elaborate? I’ve been studying the Bandit crew, and Dead Outlaws look pretty decent on paper.
  5. Does anyone know if the contents of the General Upgrade Deck are tha same that are included in the Faction Packs?
  6. Thanks for the replies. Was wondering, because some actions state to drop a friendly marker, some state enemy marker, and some do not specify either. Was a little confusing.
  7. I have a couple questions after studying the Bandit crew. 1. There are several abilities and actions that “drop a scheme marker”. If it does not state “friendly” or “enemy”, does that mean you can choose which to drop? 2. The rules state that scheme markers must be at least 4” apart. Does that apply to the triggers and abilities in a Bandit crew that drop scheme markers?
  8. Ok got it. So the +1 damage is negated due to unmodifiable black joker damage of 0. Thanks
  9. So, the model takes the +1 damage from the successful trigger and dies. Thanks. That’s the way I was leaning, since it never specifically stated that the black joker negated any triggers, plus the actual trigger itself says “when resolving” not “after damaging”.
  10. I did read that, but it doesn’t address the effects of a trigger that was successful prior to the damage flip. “0 damage that cannot be modified” leads me to believe that it means no damage cheats can occur with a black joker. Also, the attack did not generate any blasts. Thanks for your opinion on that. Anyone else have an opinion on this?
  11. Let me add to this question: Do auras and pulses require LOS to affect other models?
  12. Had a situation last night that the rulebook could not clarify. My model was on last wound and had the stunned condition when attacked by Poltergiest’s sharp claw attack action. The attack succeeded with the Hopelessness trigger, which states “Target must be Stunned. When resolving, the target suffers +1 damage”. However, the black joker came up on the damage flip for 0 damage. Does my model still die due to the +1 damage of the hopelessness trigger? Or does the black joker negate everything?
  13. Just got a rulebook today. Though my local gamestore quit stocking Malifaux, they did order the rulebooks. When I went in to play tonight, much to my surprise, they had a stack of rulebooks. How they got them when no one else can is beyond me.
  14. Thanks for the insight. That model is a lot better than I initially thought it was.
  15. So for the defensive trigger, you declare the trigger after any cheating, but before the damage flip? So essentially you have to predict how many fate tokens to use to prevent damage?
  16. Just played my first 3e game. We ran into a issue trying to interpret the Chasing Fate ability. Here is the text from the card: Chasing Fate (r): During the Start Phase, this model gains Fate Tokens equal to the current Turn number. When declaring Triggers, this model may discard any number of Fate Tokens to gain +r to its final duel total for each discarded Token. So the two questions are: 1. Do fate tokens carry over turn to turn if you don’t use them? It would imply that they would, as there is no mention of discarding unused fate tokens. 2. When you use fate tokens, the text says “when declaring triggers”. So in the case of using the defensive trigger “Forged in War”, that trigger would be declared after the card flip, correct? So you flip to defend, then declare forged in war and use the desired fate tokens? Also, if using them on a printed action, you declare triggers after that flip as well normally, so would you declare fate token use at this time? My opponent seemed to think they would work like Soulstones, and their use requiring to be declared prior to flips. The text wouldn’t seem to support that, but there is no insight I could find in the rules either. Anyone that could clarify this issue is greatly appreciated.
  17. I used a Marshall crew in my first 3e game tonight. They did pretty well. I went up against a December crew. We played Reckoning, as it was both of our first time at 3e and wanted a simplier strategy to help learn the new rules. The Marshall crew excelled at the killing game, and managed to accomplish the schemes as well. Final score was 7-4 in favor of Marshalls. I faced a December crew with Cassandra added in. My crew was: Lady J with lead coat Scales Judge Guild Steward Pale Rider DM Recruiter 2 Death Marshalls Lady J did what she does best and murdered very well. The lead coat saved her skin. The Leap action is phenomenal, though very resource intensive. The Pale rider was also very good, with his Ride with Me action being the best. The steward gave me a couple of heals and dropped a few schemes, I like him cause no one wants to kill him due to the damage they will take. The Death Marshalls are now very hardy and stand up well, great scheme runner and has a decent attack. Pine box never worked though. The Decmeber crew put up a fight. Those ice pillars are a pain in the butt! So annoying! My first 3e game was a ton of fun and great learning experience. It seems in this edition that every ability and action is very resource intensive, requiring a discard, TN, or some other resource to get it off, where many before in 2e were free. It adds a bit more strategy to resource management. Much fun though!
  18. I used him in my first 3e game tonight. I paired him with a couple of Death Marshalls. His ability to allow Marshalls to push towards undead or corpse markers was useful, but I didn’t realize it until it didn’t work that his discard to replace a killed minion with a death Marshall doesn’t work on a death Marshall itself due to undead keyword. I was able to use his attack to kill a model as well.
  19. Tmod, thank you for that very in depth analysis. Never knew all that was involved. When I first started Malifaux, I saw a guy that had a Death Marshall special model called a Miss something. It was a good looking lady rather than a flaming skeleton dude. I can guess now where it came from! So what makes Gencon more important for Wyrd than other huge events like LVO, NOVA open, Adept Con, etc? I have never been to any of these and know very little of them, other than people saying they want to go and play in the tournaments there, and hearing of them being platforms for new releases for game manufacturers.
  20. Well, I guess we will have to disagree then. From the way I read the rules, the “Choose a buried model” term does not have to be met until the trigger goes off. Wyrd will need to put out an faq for this since it seems to create confusion.
  21. The rule book states that the only requirement when declaring a trigger is to meet the cost. The only “cost” for the Leeching trigger is a Crow, which is baked in. The “Choose a buried model” is not a cost, but a special restriction, which does not apply until after the trigger goes off, therefore is not required to be met when declared. It should go like this: 1. Declare Pine Box action 2. Flip card 3. Compute total and declare Leeching trigger with built in crow 4. After any cheating, if duel is successful, the the trigger is resolved (“after succeeding”). 5. Pick a buried model. Apply the effects of the Leeching trigger to the chosen buried model. Check page 23 in rule book as well. Step 6 on page 23 reinforces what I am saying.
  22. Again, it says: “If a Trigger does not list a timing, it is treated as an After succeeding Trigger.” That states is happens after and if the trigger is successful. So, if successful, the trigger will be successful because the target will be buried. The Leeching trigger is “After Succeeding” because the target must be buried for it to succeed. Again, read the rule for trigger timing.
  23. Cool, thanks for educating me about Gencon. So, with that said, does Wyrd attend LVO? I could easily make it to that one.
