  1. Many people can't think out of the so-called fluff, the more obvious it is the more they are stuck in. And the frozen heart thing is pretty obvious, albeit Malifaux fluff and story line doesn't work like that. The last event my opponent called it bonkers that I fielded a Sabertooth with Kaeris, because "it's a model of Marcus".
  2. for game's sake: Howard Langston Sabertooth Cerberus Angelica Performer Malifaux Raptor
  3. I don't think wk4-wk5 is an issue. The mech rider usually runs up the field on either side, then spawns the little constructs, preferably in safe locations for additional activations and interactions, or sometimes to be a casual speedbump. Now, the spiders are 'unimpeded' with df6, and the metal gamin are df5 arm2, so both are more reliable than the fire gamin. In this regard the relatively good ranged ability of the fire gamin is hypothetical and uninteresting.
  4. How about: the golem stays the same, but it drops two summoned ice gamin when killed, before removed
  5. Malifaux people don't use standard measurement systems too often, metric or not... I keep on reading things like "Rasputina will combo her spell and knock all your crew to an ass-hair's width from death".
  6. IMO there are too many factors that would make this kind of listing unhelpful. Sure there are remarkably strong or weak master-strategy combos, but - you also have schemes and terrain in every game, - sometimes crew selection is more important than the master itself, - if you know a master well enough, you'll do better with him, than with one you barely know but who is theoretically better suited to the strategy. So is Ramos better in Turf War than Guard the Stash?
  7. I hope this was supposed to be a friendly sarcastic piece... I never said anything like that, and I also think Wyrd is doing a very good job in general. Regardless of this, cartoons capture the main character of things and exaggerate it, which requires a deep understanding of the subject. IMO the Willie model fails in this one. Glad if you still like it, nothing wrong with that. Only I happen to have a different opinion.
  8. First, a wheelbarrow doesn't look like that. Try to push a wheelbarrow with such a small wheel. And its arrow shape would be highly impractical for the of amount of the load. A wheelbarrow just doesn't look like that, and never did. Second, try to run with a wheelbarrow (and especially with that one) in such a position. The only question will be: will your back get injured first, or you'll run into the smallest bump, so you trip and smash your face. Because of all this, the miniature looks wrong and unreal.
  9. Not mentioning the wheelbarrow of Willie, the Katanaka sniper's grip on the gun and so on
  10. Sure, the AP was used to score VPs
  11. And they can't twirl, the shaft doesn't connect to anything. In fact, there's nothing that prevents the blade from falling to the ground.
  12. The dmg makes straight flips out of negative flips, but you simply won't have a hand large enough to be able to cheat too many cards for too many flips. Your gunsmith or mage has to hit 3 times which also may require high cards, then boom, you have the opportunity to cheat another 3 dmg flips from what's left in your hand. IMO it's far too much of an investment only to push their flat 2/3/4 dmg track...
  13. Interesting, I always thought of the firestarter as a cheap investment. It's not the healing, it's anything that requires a mobile source of burning. Healing is one of those things if you happen to take purifying flame. He is very useful and reasonably expendable, which is a rare combination. Save for the extreme lists (full of constructs + powered by flame etc.) my roster always begins with the malifaux child and the firestarter. Ofc it can be a playstyle thing.
  14. From the molemen's point of view, it's the 2 scheme markers per turn mechanism that makes the silurid awesome. Something that the ice dancer doesn't do without a suite, but without flipping cards...

    Rat Bomb

Now, if you take a beginner vs beginner game, this combo wouldn't likely come out at all. It's not a box vs box or a two-player starter thing. On the other hand, experienced players wouldn't use it at demo games either. So if "that is your first interaction with the game", something is mucked up. Give me a wargame of your choice, and I'll make a list that a moderately experienced player can use to discourage newcomers for life. Second, activation control in itself doesn't mean anything if you don't know how to capitalize on. Which also takes a somehow experienced player. Activation control is an important part of the game, but in my experience newcomers' first problems are like they get shot to pieces by Perdita etc. Which, I guess, doesn't mean shooting is OP.
  16. What exactly Marcus does for them that is so special? I thought a pair of molemen was one of the most self-supporting things in the whole faction.
  17. He's in the same business as Joss. If you're in the same business as Joss, you want to be significantly cheaper (like the pre-cuddle Metal Gamin), or you want to be as good as, or better than him. Which won't ever happen.
  18. I like fast models with Leap or models that ignore cover / can shoot with an in-built . I used the Captain vs Leveticus and he's okay, but that's kind of a russian roulette game, because the Captain is not terribly resilient (not vs Leveticus&Co. at least). Have you folks ever tried Aionus vs Leveticus? Aionus+Imbued Energies, plus 3×Prompt from Colette or Alpha from Marcus. Is that an overkill?
  19. I agree that the model is underwhelming... but its wrists are the only right thing on it
  20. Congrats! Would you please post a short resume of the the lists/games you played?
  21. @Fog: my take on Arcanist masters almost completely differs from yours. But I think that's because this game is so easy to interpret in different ways, not because one of us was wrong. Eg. I think Colette is extremely effective, but really one (two) dimensional, not much of a toolbox at all. The same applies - to a certain extent - to Marcus. Even Ramos has more vectors as my games go, and even Kaeris is more interesting than Colette, while somewhat less efficient for sure. I think Rasputina is sometimes considered weaker or one dimensional only because her common lists builds have very obvious counters.
  22. Take the vacuum cleaner and apply socks or maybe pantyhose on the mouth of the wand. Then you can go through the floor and check if the cleaner collects the missing bits. This works for me, probably will work for you too.
  23. I use Angelica with Ramos on a regular basis, she's a most useful piece.
  24. IMO 3SS is a bad idea for any crew with two SS users in it
  25. Matter of taste...IMO the old Snow Storm perfectly captured that North American spirit-something feeling that the whole snow-ice-wendigo theme is based on. While the new one, being okay as it is, has no flavor at all. It's a vanilla demon that could have appeared in the WH beastman range or any fantasy tabletop.
