  1. And that, generally, is down to your own play style rather than one upgrade being better than the other. Experiment with both! As for Kirai, some quick tips are aim for things outside of her malevolence aura (6" around her or her totem) so you don't summon Ikiryo. If that's not an option, focus and do one solid hit with blasts to damage multiple models AND have a plan to take out Ikiryo afterwards (or she will do nasty things back).
  2. Yes, except that Raspy has a 0 close attack as well that she could use.
  3. Ticket bought, see you guys there! (It's Graeme Nicholls, might as well make Dave's life a tad easier)
  4. Ticket bought. I say go with 55, it's what you wanted to start with. I'm in either way though.
  5. It gets more fun when you take an Onryo or two and charge them off: "Will hitting this summon Ikiryo?" "Nope, but it pulses out adversary when struck and a possible slow when killed. And yes, that is a Hanged lurking behind, who will summon Ikiryo. Take your pick of bad choices!"
  6. Oh, when you see the Gaki swarm, then you'll see the reason to run them. Giving other Gaki a (1) melee attack is good, as is Kirai and Datsue Ba being able to summon them by killing models - this is always great for any model. Beyond that, they are still fairly quick, cheap significant models with Df6. They can threaten better than a Crooligan I find.
  7. Sorry to say, but the Onryo is neither living nor undead, so you cannot summon Ikyrio from them being damaged by an enemy. Same holds true for Seshin, Night Terrors and Gaki. Otherwise glad to hear you enjoyed Kirai, sounds like fun was had.
  8. If you go fixed list/fixed triple list/single master, how much information do you announce at the "Declare Faction" step of beginning a game?
  9. It's in the gaining grounds document on page 3 (which I believe will be replaced by the new version in the next couple of weeks but I doubt this'll change). The old avatar models are proxies for the emissaries, there's rules for alternate models like Dead Justice and what they count as. Other than that, models must be official Wyrd products (so you may see puppet wars miniatures) but can be converted. TOs' often allow proxies for models that have not been released yet, e.g. the wave 3 stuff, but that's not a Wyrd ruling. The gaining ground document can be downloaded from the Organised Play Formats section of this page - http://www.wyrd-games.net/resources
  10. If there's still tickets come payday, I'll be there.
  11. Put me down as running Kirai. See? Not running the Pandora filth now!
  12. In addition to the good advice from Oshova, how local are you and have you played many games? I'm in Coventry myself and might be able to meet up if you wanted a practice game or two to learn the game/your crew better.
  13. I asked that too! They can come from outside the pool.
  14. Awesome. All paid up, now to decide which master. I'm tempted by one I've not played at all yet...
  15. Mind sharing where in the UK you are? I'm in Coventry and will happily help give a beginner game or two if I can to get you in.
  16. Put me down as a tentative yes, all depends on work schedules.
  17. It was a nice venue and one concern I had was regarding parking, as there's only 15 or so spaces out the front. Turns out there's an extra 90 round the back free at the weekends so that shouldn't be an issue!
  18. I don't own Lust yet, but Joel Henry used her on the table next to me at an event in September and declared her to be "filth". Three WP duels for one of her AP is amazing, and that's not factoring in the rest of what that AP does.
  19. I like Lilitu as well and can certainly see using that as a highly effective core. I'll only swap to the Beckoner if I'm running one or more Illuminated alongside. I've had too many McMourning-moments not to mainboard Johan these days.
  20. Sure, I’ll give you a couple. I vary my lists for every strategy but one thing I have found is that if I focus on a WP bomb list, I lose the moment Pandora gets in trouble. Instead, I now have a more mixed force and rarely use her woes. Well, except the obligatory Doppleganger. I’m not that silly. Pandora – Voices, Aether Connection Nekima Doppleganger Johan – Retributions Eye Beckoner Illuminated Primordial Magic The Beckoner is all about WP based duels and can set things up for the Illuminated, which can put out crazy levels of damage. The Doppleganger is just a must, whether she copies Nekima, the Illuminated or Beckoner (normally to Lure early on), or Johan for condition removal (she’s a crutch, I use her in every list). Pandora focusses on paralysing and activation control while the rest of the crew butchers whatever comes into range. Scheme running comes later in the game here. Stones are used for high cards and suits to paralyze. Pandora does still hit things if needed, but I’d rather she paralyze 2-3 models a turn (I normally manage 1-2) and use the rest of the crew to hammer the opponent. An alternative list would be: Pandora – The Box Opens, Fears Given Form, Aether Connection Beckoner Primordial Magic Coppelius – On Dreaming Wings Doppleganger Johan – Retributions Eye Widow Weaver Coppelius is hunting scheme runners early in game, then either scoring my own or joining the fray later. The others form a more central block. If I need to split them, Doppleganger and Johan will run around with two effective relic hammers, Pandy will be followed by the Weaver and Beckoner who ping off WP duels for extra Misery damage.
  21. My go to is Pandora with Fears Given Form, The Box Opens and often Aether Connection (stones mainly used to prevent), Beckoner, 2 Illuminated, a depleted (insignificant but is a minion so does score), Hans, Doppleganger (the two snipe off his errant models, even if engaged) and Primordial Magic. The Illuminated move into a quarter, Beckoner loiters in the midfield, Hans/Doppleganger/Depleted hang back to hold another. Pandora flies into the enemy and causes chaos between Fears, Terrifying and her pushes to keep her out of their melee range.
  22. Okay, that amused the hell out of me.
  23. Sign me up for the Saturday event, not sure I can make the Sunday one yet.
  24. I agree here. Unless I wanted to take a simple walk, drop a scheme marker etc, my game pretty much paused every time the microphone was in use and we'd end up shrugging to each other and waiting. The other minor niggles have been mentioned, table names, scoring sheets etc. Aside from these, it was a great fun event and I look forwards to next year.
