  1. Would like to add to @Cedar's list that in Ten Thunders Illuminated, Ruffians and Kunoichi seem to also be hired very rarely.
  2. Agreed, and I find that somewhat problematic for new players, as many seem to be drawn into the game by being fascinated not by a faction but by a certain Master or keyword. And if they then find out that their particular master or theme of choice is incredibly weak and auto-loses against certain other masters or is damn near useless in certain strategies (Youko) and their only way of enjoying a little success is to get other Masters/ keywords from the same faction that they might not find visually appealing (Asami) ... don't know. I find that very frustrating.
  3. And with dream-like confidence I bought the last three names on SEV's list before getting in touch with who was halfway good in ME3.. 😅
  4. I like your Toni quite a bit! Love the contrast between the blue pants and the orange jacket. And I feel you on the dark skin being a little more challenging. My own Beckoner in the 2021 Challenge thread came out a little too dark.. But I think you did really well! 😃
  5. Sadly Ivan is able to summon Brocken Spectres off of 6 WP models when using Runic Siphon with the Intercision trigger and that pretty much discourages one from using WP 6 Models against Umbra. I guess you'd at least put 2 wounds on the spectre, but I don't know if it would be worth opening that particular door. And they are OOK hires as well.
  6. Sheep: Awesome!!!! Movie reference: Terrible. Aweful, aweful movie. 😶
  7. Actually, the more I think about what just wrote the more it seems fitting to play McCabe with Versatiles. Other famous adventurers like Indiana Jones or Nathan Drake would go on their treasure hunts with very few core friends who accompanied them every time while there would always be some guy or gal tagging along just for one or two adventures. So McCabe hiring guides, muscle or specislists for certain gigs seems appropriate. And as far as I'm aware Sidir makes it into basically every McCabe list and there are fairly many people playing Hucksters and Desper. From what I gathered over at the Preppy Society Rough Riders and Jessie seem to be decent as well. So basically Ruffians are the only Wastrel models no one touches which is, admittedly, a shame since they are cool sculpts with lots of character. PS: Fuhatsu is definitely Japanese. And I'm not sure about Lust either, but the way her skin and cheek bones look in the art makes me think she's Asian as well.
  8. And there's a Beckoner done for the first 5 Stones this month. Again, I find it hard to take pictures that do the paint jobs justice (they'd still be very much average), but I guess it's okay.
  9. Very well put, good Sir. I shall henceforth fully agree with your view on this specific topic, albeit still holding a watchful eye due to your continued and seemingly rather passionate imvolvement with that other Society.
  10. Surely Artemis is a good girl?! One would aasume that Lord Cooper, even if he is no gentleman, at least knows his Greek mythology. Well I guess if Malifaux can have humans of different characteristics and physical as well as mental capabilities it's only fair if that holds true for dogs as well.
  11. On the topic of doggos: Does the (filthy, slimy, villainous) ES book give an in-lore reason why Artemis and Ullr are so much better and more durable than Luna or the Guild Hounds? Are they somewhat supernatural?
  12. I feel you on it being a little weird that McCabe's Wastrels don't invoke any of the Eastern aesthetics that you'd asssociate with Ten Thunders. The same holds true for Jakob's Honeypot. And that's the only keyword in Ten Thunders that's actually Ten Thunders only and doesn't have any overlap into other factions. It's just a strange fact that 25% of the masters in the Asian faction are white English-speaking males. And you can't really say that Ten Thunders is more about crime than Asian aesthetic, because that doesn't quite fit the bill with Asami, Yan Lo or Shenlong.
  13. I appreciate absolutely nothing about these slimy, honorless scoundrels who are filthy rich to top it all off! How dare they present way better bubble crews in Cadmus and Jezda's Seekers than friendly gentleman and casino proprietor Jakob Lynch can muster? At least he still sports a hat and cane better than Ivan does. How dare they create a Department of Ungentlemanly Affairs that makes lovely and honest Youko Hamasaki, already not quite on top of the food chain, look even worse? How dare they outright steal the Oyabun's tool of choice, the Shadow markers? How dare they try to compete on the loyalty of brave adventurer Lucas McCabe, who's services should belong to the Ten Thunders and the Ten Thunders alone? Hence a dedicated member of a real society of shadows like myself shall only uttery despise these villainous so-called Explorers.
  14. Sure I can: www.fantasywelt.de/malifaux But you'll notice that there's lots of stuff they just don't have in stock at the moment. I guess they get their merch from England as well so expect having to wait.
  15. 'Hush' sounds very much like it might have Eyes and Ears in it. And since you can bring five of them, those plus the Archivist feels reasonable. And the Dark Dealings box for Honeypot got released before the Lynch Core Box too. But it admittedly didn't have any new models in it.
  16. And I'd say that another concern is that Cadmus might scare away new and inexperienced players for good if they run into the spider wall, get smashed beyond belief and end up with the notion that the game is inbalanced and ultimately not worth their time if they can't beat certain masters with their favorite keyword that just got them into to game.
  17. Greetings, everyone! I put together the last pieces for my Honeypot keyword with soothing Victorian Era ambience music playing in the background and I have to say: Gwyneth Maddox, Malifaux's most charming Luck Thief, gave me quite a hard time! Lots of small, fiddly bits like glueing hands to wrists, or the tiny derringer.. It felt like The Party Never Ends. And the assembly instructions didn't help all that much, since they only show the front and, well it's a 2D picture trying to explain how to put together a 3D sculpt. And they don't give you the correct sequence, which resulted in me having to rip off part of her skirt again before it was completely glued to the rest. She turned out fine in the end though, thanks to my girlfriend having smaller and more skilled hands than me. I suppose I might just not be as skilled or well-equipped as some of you guys, but this one was seriously hard. And I'm not looking forward to Youko.. Well, what about you? Any stories to share on Malifaux assembly nightmares? Which sculpts did you find the hardest to put together? PS: Still utterly love the models, even Gwyneth! ❤
  18. Think I'm gonna skip the 3-color challenge since it doesn't fit my Honeypot color scheme. As for what I will do: I'll stick to my minimalistic approach stone-wise and pledge a Beckoner and then maybe Gwyneth or Miss Guided. Which lady would you like me to paint up first?
  19. @Vessien Make the Oyabun proud...or face the consequences. On a more positive note: I believe in you!
  20. I think Plaag is doing great work here, and he's ready to provide the data and test out all the settings that an opponent wants to bring against him. I struggled with his 'Model XY is bad don't play it' attitude when I (re-)entered the forums but by now I really appreciate the time he's putting into Cadmus and hence showing the problems there are with the keyword. Sure, he's not the best in giving an elaborate written analysis, but it's certainly much better than going around and accusing respected players of lying.
  21. So, @Caedrus, did the one-day-challenge and am ready to hand in the results: Just a Depleted, but I think he turned out alright. EDIT: Forgot to add that this jolly little chap puts me at 18 Stones for the month. Yeah, sure, that's nearly as impressive compared to what others are pumping out, but slow and steady wins the race, and I don't want to run out of stuff to paint if supply chain difficulties in Western Europe continue through the year.
  22. It's weird that a keyword can get so massively broken and almost unbeatable by staying mostly in keyword and adding one single versatile model, albeit one that's costed 10 soulstones. Did no one test the combination while playtesting? It seems strange that something so strong would somehow slip under the eyes of both Wyrd's developers and unpaid playtesters.
  23. Um... If you are looling for a Vassal game, I believe there is dedicated thread for that. If you would like to be fought over an opinion it's believed to be best practice to verbalize said opinion first so your argumentative opponent would have an idea what the discussion might actually be about. If you're just alone and drunk and that's your pandemic-way of shouting at a random stranger in some bar - I feel you, man.
  24. Well I've got a friend who's going Explorers, and as far as I know he's not interested in Wastrel. Maybe he'll be game to share the box if I get McCabe. But I still think it's a little inconvenient. Though not as inconvenient as if you'd want to play Syndicate.
  25. So, after those filthy, honorless scoundrels from the Explorer's Society already stole the chance for a Jorugomu master/keyword with the introduction of their own sweetly balanced spider keyword... Giraffe people confirmed?
