  1. I think I probably do more large-scale poisoning using Rancid transplant or Nurses than I do with Transfusion, it's more AP expensive but it enables me to get more things poisoned in one turn and so Catalyst ticks more damage. If I use Transfusion then it's usually specifically to get out a Flesh Construct.
  2. I'm not a huge fan of the metal, she's a bit unthematic apart from the feathers. Might be a good base for conversion though. Cheers.
  3. I haven't played JD myself but I have done an awful lot of Theoryfaux with him, and as far as I can tell his two main strong points are his movement abilities (Between him and Montresor you can get Tormented models to move all over the place with very little effort) and the Curse upgrades, which can be a really good way to hold down the big models on the opponent's side. It's all well and good having a bit 50mm greebly stomping round, but if he's haemorrhaging soulstones or cards to keep him alive every time they try and use him then he ends up damaging the whole crew's effectiveness. In terms of crew selection the only thing I would potentially add is that Nurses are also tormented and are capable of even more double-edged Cuddling (They can give your enemy model +2 to Melee, but they can't walk, or +2 to walk, but they can't fight!)
  4. Yes, I remember reading that another model was his niece but I couldn't remember which one. Thanks for that! Not sure I would want to try and GS a doctor's coat onto a crouching model though, so I think I'll have to sacrifice veritie for functionality there.
  5. That could well be an option, I could have McMourning's Niece. Now to search for a good proxy for a mad female doctor.
  6. I find it really frustrating that our condition removal is so specific in the fluff - I really like to try and keep my crew as thematic as possible, and I can't see any way that Chiaki fits in in a crew that isn't Yan Lo (or Kirai at a push). I wish that we'd got something like the Witchlings that don't look out of place in any crew because they're a standard crew piece. Maybe something large and lumbering, like a Flesh Construct, that could 'suck' the condition off a player and onto itself, so it's not too powerful an addition.
  7. Myself and Matt Elliot will be taking part although we've not got out tickets yet. Now, to think of a good name...
  8. I only play McMourning, and I'll always take him with Moonlighting because who wouldn't? I will usually stick Transfusion on either Seb or Valedictorian, and maybe a Decaying Aura upgrade as well. But like I said, I'm terrible at remembering to tell my opponent about the Aura damage ticking, so probably 1/3 of all matches I play it's a wasted Soulstone.
  9. In an average game how many upgrades do you find yourself taking? Do you take them for everyone who can take one? I find that if I have more than about three upgrades I find myself forgetting to use them (Decaying Aura and other passive effects are the worst for this) and so I will usually only put two maximum on my master and maybe another one on one of my Henchmen or Enforcers. Does anybody who uses lots of upgrades use anything or a system to help them remember to use them? I have the upgrade cards right next to my Master and Henchman's stat cards but at the end of a game I will always find myself noticing an action or ability that I had forgotten about and wasted a Soulstone on. Does anyone run their master with no upgrades at all? Is the extra Soulstones more useful over the game? Lots of questions, any answers? (I know that was another question!)
  10. You see, this is why I love this company so much. It's an issue that people have raised that it's difficult to get hold of seishin in plastic, and this is not only a sensible and logical solution, they've also allayed fears directly instead of leaving concerns to ferment. Good job Wyrd!
  11. I can tell you how it'll go. I'll get utterly smashed off the table, as per usual. But I will let you know how Hans fits in.
  12. No love for Hans? I picked up the Leve box a few weeks back and I made sure to grab Hans as well as the idea of an anchor who can stay back, put out some damage and practically guarantee a safe waif seemed great.
  13. I can honestly not think of one single thing that would make this thread productive at this point, can I recommend it's locked before it starts another cycle?
  14. The thing is, once you've got Rusty Alyce, her and Leve's upgrades (~4SS), Lazarus/Ashes & Dust, 1-2 Aboms, you've only got 20 or so soulstones left to spend anyway, an as you really want to have at least one more waif anchor you're probably only looking at three out of faction models tops, so I don't think it would be that much of a hindrance. I've played against Leve a couple of times and although his personal mechanic is devious and restricts the schemes you can take against him I don't think that just his presence guarantees a loss or NPE. Every new Master I play against I have a 'He does WHAT? That's ridiculous!' moment, but that's just what it is, it's a moment and you learn to adapt. Rasputina's Ice Mirror seems absolutely bloody ridiculous the first few times but it's counterable.
  15. Not unless Mounted McCabe's card says so. I don't have the rulebook to hand but I don't think that half wounds is specified in the General Rules for Summoning.
  16. I highly approve of this and in support of your endeavour I turned Viktoria and one of her Ronin into fleshies last night. It was highly satisfying.
  17. I would say that they are not gaining the condition on it being applied to them a second time. I don't have the rulebook so I can't check the minutiae on gaining conditions, but I can't see it being read the other way.
  18. Tricky one. I think the idea of Lilith in white sounds cool but it might look a bit glaring in a crew with no other bright colours. Unless you go for darker skin on her - if she had the same dark red skin as Barbaros that would look very cool, and would offset the lighter coat. Maybe do Barbaros's Mahacuitl as if it was made of ivory, and the horns on the Mature, so there's a touch of the paler pallette throughout the crew?
  19. My goodness - it's been nearly Eight months since I started this painting blog, and I've probably not put paint to model for three or four months. So, let's have a look at what's changed: Complete (12 models): McMourning 2 Flesh Constructs 3 Canine Remains 3 Rotten Belles 2 Nurses Bete Noire Nearly finished/ Just need detailing (2 models): The Valedictorian Jaakuna Ubume Basecoated/Hardly started (11 models): Zombie Chihuahua Sebastian 2 Hanged 3 Students of Transmortis 3 Guild Autopsies Killjoy Built but not undercoated (11 models): Yin the Pennangalan Leveticus Rusty Alice 4 Abominations 3 Hollow Waifs Hans So, I've got twice the amount of models completed since the last update, but I've also doubled my 'to paint' pile by buying the Leveticus boxed set, with a whopping 9 models. And I also relegated Killjoy from 'Nearly Finished' to 'Barely Started' because I'm redoing him because I've decided that I really can't live with the gap which runs across his shoulders. But let's have a look at what I've got done so far, including a shot of my two Flesh Constructs, both the first and last models I've painted, which gives a good indicator of whether I've improved or not. Last night's work - most of these were around 80% finished so it was mostly a detailing and highlighting session: I'm pleased with Bete Noire, the image I had in my head of how her dress was going to look transferred quite faithfully onto the model: Here's Dr Dougie McMourning with his two pet constructs, approximately 15 months seperate the painting of these two: I feel I've definitely got better at painting flesh, although he's still a bit healthy for a construct, I just chalk that up to Dougie doing a good job with the reperfusion. I'm going to keep trucking on with the McMourning crew for now, even though I have these guys sitting patiently they're going to have to hit the table unpainted for now at least: And hopefully I'm going to be able to keep some of this painting momentum up so it's not going to be another six months before I pick up a brush again!
