  1. Pretty self-explanatory. Looking for a plastic version of Rami LaCroix, preferably unassembled, but definitely not painted. Will pay cash (PayPal) or trade with the following available: Plastic Lady Justice (unassembled) Metal Judge (unassembled) 2 Plastic Death Marshalls (the ones that aren't the kneeling giant) (unassembled) 1 Metal Death Marshall (the leaping one) Translucent blue Windego (mostly assembled; Windego and victim are not connected) Metal Victoria of the Blood, primed and based
  2. Pretty self-explanatory. I am looking for Colette's avatar box. Prefer unassembled and unpainted, but will take what is available. Money via PayPal.
  3. I was giving some thought to what Asrian was talking about with regards to W2MN and how giving the Construct and Beast characteristics to Neverborn can be a hindrance or unnecessary as the faction does have those characteristics. What if NMMNG and W2MN are limited based on which faction Mr. Cooper declares? He can only take NMMNG when he declares Neverborn, and only W2MN when he declares Arcanists? The Gaffs then only have the ones that give Nephilim, Mimic, and Woe characteristics. Could think about swapping out "Which One Is Real" for "Don't Mind Me" for the Mimic. With this alternative, could possibly come up with a 4th Gaff that gives Swampfiend characteristic similar to Silurid's cover-like ability (don't have my books in front of me).
  4. Sorry I have been out for the last few weeks. I hope to actually get a game in this week with Mr. Cooper. One idea I had in looking over things immediately. Regrading the Circus Troupe upgrade, what if the upgrade is called Circus Troupe, but the actual ability to summon Flying Monkeys is called "Continue the Experiment" ? It is a reference from The Simpsons. There is an episode where Mr. Burns is seen pulling a blanket off a cage in his office, revealing flying monkeys. He releases them and tells them to "fly my pretties, fly." They all leap from his balcony and plummet to their death. Mr. Burns looks down at them before turning to Smithers and says "Call the lab, continue the experiments." It makes me laugh at least.
  5. Actually, for train scale comparison, O scale is more in line than HO scale. I used O scale track for basing my Rail Crew, and have used O scale crates, steamer trunks, and barrels for basing accessories. HO scale comes off too small. It can possibly work if you are looking to scale some items for Gremlins, but even then, it is a bit small.
  6. Sorry for the delay in responding. Finally had a moment to actually respond. Again, computer is not letting the quote work, so let's see how this goes. Welcome To My Nightmare -I think the upgrade is good with Run Away With Me limited to Minions, and then adding the Smoke and Mirrors to it. Or maybe placing the Encore trigger for May I Direct Your Attention here. -I can be down with having the three upgrades with the Nephilim, Mimic, and Woe applying to Arcanist models and Construct, Showgirl, and Beast applying to Neverborn. HOWEVER, I do prefer 6 individual upgrades and not restricting them by faction. I think we 3 (me, Da Git, and Kalkris) are in agreement "The Haze Only Gets Thicker" ability is better than the Hazy Condition. Mr. Cooper -For "Nothing's Free," should it be at the start of the Activation, and the suit be applicable for the duration of the Activation (with the cost of one Wound)? Does the wording as it is come from another model? For it to last the Activation, could add language that the damage cannot be prevented (to prevent someone from taking the action and essentially spending one soulstone for damage prevention to get three automatic suits) Flying Monkeys -Should have the CARNY characteristic -Not sure if they should be Minions/Peons. Go with Minion for now, and see how they shake out from the initial playtest Lola -Funny thought came into my head. What about giving him "Pounce?" The idea of a Belly Flop Pounce... But he seems to have enough Abilities and Actions already. Lizzy -I think "Lit Cigarette" sounds better then "Burnt Cigarette." Maybe a trigger that gives a model "Burning 1" off it? Mercury -For "ice, ice, baby," if going with the TN 10Df duel requirement on the trigger (modified by The Haze Only Gets Thicker), I don't think we need the prerequisite of "Slow" before giving the target Paralyzed. Too many requirements -I think we can put him at cost 9 stones with 9 wounds, Hard to Wound (instead of Impossible to Wound), and bring back Who Wants To Live Forever. Or drop Hard/Impossible to Wound altogether and just go with Who Wants to Live Forever (it's such a unique action, I am rather enamoured with it). If the heal flip off this is going to be just 1/2/3 and he doesn't have Hard/Impossible to Wound, his Df should probably be base 5. I think Df 4 is fine with WWTLF, but the heal should be 2/3/4 then. It is a high price to permanently lower a model's Df. -Also, what about getting rid of "I Want To Break Free" and returning "Don't Stop Me Now," but with the requirement being that all valid targets within P2 must pass a TN10-12 Df Duel (obviously affected by The Haze Only Gets Thicker), or be the subject of a Barbell Spin attack before Mercury's removed from play? Overall, I think they are looking fantastic and are probably near the point where we need to give them some testing to see what works and what is multi-penguin car traffic accident.
  7. True, but it looks to me like the Crossroads 7 have some serious power chords.
  8. I have to say, I prefer keeping the 6 Oddity upgrades separate. I do like the use of Gaff Kalkris and was trying to figure out a way to incorporate it into Cooper somehow. Not sure though of cutting them down to 3 upgrades. I am really not sold on the idea of restricting the type of the upgrade upon the model's based faction. To me that takes away from some of the fun of the sideshow idea and part of the original thinking/concept was a model having a characteristic you did not expect. I like the idea of a Showgirl Terror Tot (think demonic Dancing Baby), or a Blackblood Razorspine Rattler (Snake Demon).
  9. I agree with Da Git to put Smoke and Mirrors into Recruitment Drive. Then make it 2SS. I would say put the Encore trigger for May I Direct Your Attention into either one of the Limited upgrades. Freely and Nickel are similar enough they could be condensed into one upgrade/drop one for the other. While I like the idea of 6 Oddity upgrades (3NB/3AR), I will concede to the majority on this. If two had to go, I would vote for The Turk and Hall of Mirrors. I think it is almost time for a new thread that provides a clear updated version of what we are working off for all models. I am almost confused which Cooper is the current one. Also, my iPod just inspired me. A better name for "Recruitment Drive" "Welcome To My Nightmare"
  10. Da Git, not offended/bothered/whatever about the recommendations. The whole point of this thing is to bounce ideas back and forth. Probably for me is I have certain fluff image in my mind regarding the recruitment drive and may be missing certain mechanic facets. Giving it some thought, I could see making it a Limited purchase upgrade Ability (playing off the Mr. Nice Guy vs. Not Mr. Nice Guy) to decide which style you want to play him as. Still going back and forth on whether or not it should apply to all models or just Minions. So he would have "Infiltration (Showgirl/Carny)" as a base Ability and then the limited upgrade Ability Run Away With Me: All models (or just Minion Models) hired by this model without the Carny or Showgirl characteristic, gain the Oddity characteristic. Then on each of the Oddity upgrades (which would have the Restrictions Oddity, Limited, Rare 1), there would be the language This upgrade may be taken by a Minion model with the Oddity characteristic. My vote would be to call the "recruited" models "Oddity/Oddities." It has the right ring I think. Kalkris, thanks for all your extra research on carnivals/side shows. I knew some things, but the further information you have provided has been really helpful in hammering these things out.
  11. I agree with keeping the "recruitment drive" upgrades permanently at the start of the game and "Run Away With Me" as an ability versus a tactical action. I can go along with it restricted to giving Minions the Carny characteristic and only allowing Minion Carnies to receive the upgrades. However, what if it is worded so that only models who become Carny through "Run Away With Me" can receive one of these upgrades? I know Da Git is worried of making an Enforcer or Henchmen overpowered. But if someone wanted to give Teddy Chimera or FeeGee Mermaid, that's 14SS for one model, which is a reasonable price for that much power. I still think Run Away With Me should be one of his basic abilities and not an upgrade. Da Git, I see what you say on the Silken Scarf about not having the rams trigger automatic. Good thinking. I think the wording for May I Direct Your Attention could be just a little clearer: "Place target Minion or Carny model into base contact with a friendly scheme marker within 4 inches and LOS of this model." -Do you think on one of the upgrades should include an "Encore" trigger similar to Colette's Disappearing Act for this (and have Three Ring Circus be the default trigger)?
  12. I think I like Hazy as an ability as described with The Haze Thickens. Makes it more unique to the crew and less like Brilliance or the Brewmaster's drunk aura.
  13. Here's my take over "The Ring Master" (1) If I May Direct Your Attention... (Ca 6 :tome/TN 14 :tome/Rg 10) Place any friendly model within 6 inches of this model. The placed model than gains Companion until the end of the Turn. Three Ring Circus The moved model takes 1 AP after placed Curtain Call: After succeeding, take this action again on a different friendly within 6” of this model. This action may not declare triggers.
  14. Da Git, my thoughts. I'm not sure about Mr. Cooper having manipulative. Doesn't quite seem to fit. Mr. Cooper's Silken Scarf attack. -I mentioned this in an earlier post, the trigger that does the "discard 2 cards or 2 soulstones" should be a trigger to be consistent with H. Langston's Decapitate and Misaki's Assassinate. I also suggested calling it "Garrote" over "Strangulate" (to me, it just sounds cooler). Also, the triggers for "Caress of Silk" and "Whip into Shape" should be reversed. Compared to other models, usually allow for an action to be taken again, while allow for a heal to occur. With this being the layout, do we want to give the action the built in to the attack? Mr. Cooper's The Ring Master I think I like the May I Direct Your Attention I came up with a little better where Mr. Cooper moves a model and then gives it Companion until the end of the Turn. I think the Final Act trigger is a little too much for this action, especially as it does not allow for the model to take an action, like Prompt. With May I Direct Your Attention, I did have a trigger "Three Ring Circus" that allows the placed model to take a 1 action (instead of Final Act). I do like the "You too" trigger. I wonder if this shouldn't be a 1AP action instead of a 0. Mr. Cooper's Run Away With Me/Recruitment Drive: I like your reasoning and explanation behind the recruitment drive, and can go along with it. However, I think "Run Away With Me" should be one of Mr. Cooper's natural abilities and not a 1SS upgrade. Seems like to have a whole series of upgrades conditioned on another upgrade is a bit clunky and excessive. Chimera Upgrade We could alter Triple Headed to limit it to Ml Attacks. While yes it would make a Slate Ridge Mauler very powerful, it would cost a total of 11SS, which seems reasonable (8 for the Mauler, 3 for the upgrade). Hence why it is 3SS. Lola No thoughts, looks good, but may want to make sure that the triggers are consistent with other models. I think they are, but doesn't hurt. Thin Lizzy I think she needs some sort of attack action that does damage (as you have her, she does not deal any damage). Maybe like "Burnt Cigarette" that does 1/1/2 damage and have her Lure have a trigger that allows her to take it if a model is in range. Also, may want to have a trigger on the lure that does some kind of damage, again, a low level. Mercury -I am not sure about Headlong compelling him to take the 2AP action. I can see it, but not completely sold on it. Good wording on the action. -I think I Want To Break Free should be a trigger. See Colette's "Now You See Me" and Mei Feng's "Leap Aside" Impossible To Wound/Defense/Who Wants to Live Forever: This is a tricky situation. I could see dropping him down to "Hard to Wound" over "Impossible to Wound" and upping his defense back up to 5. I think "Who Wants to Live Forever (or "The Show Must Go On", don't know which one sounds better), should be a 2/3/4 healing flip as permanently lowering the model's Df by 1 for the rest of the game is a pretty big sacrifice. By lowering him just to Hard to Wound, he does become a little more squishy. I would still keep his Df at 5 with this. How about for the "ice, ice, baby" trigger on "Under Pressure" it reads: "Instead of damaging and giving Slow, target gains Paralyzed"? I could understand damaging and paralyzing a model is a little too powerful. This way, if you hit the trigger, the player gets to pick which they prefer and it makes the opposing player decide if he wants to take the risk to cheat to avoid Mercury's controller having the option to Paralyze. I recommend the damage spread be 2/2/4, split the difference on the Severe.
  15. I did mean "Impossible to Wound," as I was going off the Slateridge Mauler. I'd be willing to drop any of the abilities. I'm thinking the best ones to drop are either "I Want to Break Free" or "Don't Stop Me Now." Kalkris, I'm glad you laughed at "ice, ice, baby." It was just too good of a reference to pass up. Da Git, could you give an example of how "The Haze Only Gets Thicker" would work? I keep reading it and I am just not understanding.
  16. Da Git: My Carny upgrades are based mainly on Mr. Cooper having the following ability: Come Away With Me: All models hired by this crew gain the Carny characteristic. This way, a Carny upgrade could be attached to any model, not just the members of the Carnival Crew we are working on. Can I just also say, this has been a blast to tinker with?
  17. Ok, finally, here's my ideas for Mercury. I used Da Git's as a template and made a little changes and stuck in the Freddy Mercury References. Mercury, The Strongman 9SS Arcanist Living, Enforcer, Rare 1 CARNY Df:5, Wp:5, Wd:10, Wk:4, Ch:6, Ht:2 Abilities: Impossible to Wound: Damage flips against this model receive . Damage flips may not be cheated The Haze Only Gets Thicker Headlong Charge: This model may make a single 2AP Ml attack on a charge instead of 2 1AP Ml attacks I Want To Break Free: ( Df): After successfully defending against a Ml action, push all models within 2, 2 inches directly away from this model. Don't Stop Me Now: When this model is reduced to 0 wounds, it is allowed to make a Ml attack before it is removed from play Attack Actions: (2) Barbell Spin (Ml 5 /Rst: Df/ Rg: 2) Make one attack against every model within range. Target suffers 3/5/7 damage (1) Under Pressure (Ml 6 /Rst: Df/ Rg: 1) Target suffers 2/2/5 damage and gains the Slow condition Ice, Ice, Baby: Target gains the Paralyzed Condition Tactical Actions: (0) The Show Must Go On/Who Wants To Live Forever: Lower this model's Df permanently by 1 and then make a 2/3/4 healing flip (1) Give Me The Prize!: Target an enemy scheme marker within 2 inches. Target becomes a friendly scheme marker. So my theories: "Headlong" is a Queen song, and figured it fit the ability with Mercury running "headlong" in his charge I used the original wording of Barbell Spin/Sweep the Barbell as it becomes a high risk/reward action. If Mercury does a 360 with the barbell, he's not going to be discriminate against who he hits in range. Hence why I upped the damage spread (and the SS cost of him by 1). "I Want To Break Free" is based on the classic image of a dog pile on a big guy and then he explodes up, throwing everyone off him. I felt Impossible to Wound and The Show Must Go On/Who Wants To Live Forever (can't decide which sounds better), better reflects the story of Mercury taking a ton of damage, but still standing. He's hurt, and there is a price to pay, but he keeps going on. The mechanic of healing at the risk of becoming easier to hit in the future intrigued me. "Under Pressure" goes off his wrestling with the lion and basically doing a bear hug. I dropped the Terrifying because I see Mercury on par with the Slateridge Mauler and Cojo. They were some of the inspiration and neither one is Terrifying.
  18. I forgot some language with the "When purchasing..." for the Carny upgrades. It should read as follows: When purchasing this upgrade for a crew led by Mr. Cooper, it does not count against a model's upgrade limit and may be attached to a Minion model. Good idea to also attach Rare 1 to the restrictions. Kalkris, regarding your comments off The Sabre Trick for the Mummerettes, Da Git is taking it straight from Colette's attack action as written.
  19. Ok, let see if I can organize this: Infiltration/Showgirl/Carny/Come Away With Me: I see what you are saying Kalkris, and I can go along with that. There are some models that come with the Carny characteristic (and Infiltration is Showgirl/Carny), but then Cooper has Come Away With Me that allows him to make all models he hires Carnies, and allows him to attach Carny upgrades to Minion models. Makes sense. Carny Upgrades I like the added line about if used by crews led by Cooper, they can be attached to a Minion. I am not sure about reducing Soulstone Cost. I think that is a poll vote. You can get rid of the added line about limiting one Carny upgrade per model by making all of them have Restriction Carny, Limited. I am not sure about making The Turk Construct/Puppet alternate depending on faction. That starts getting a little confusing. Best to be one. I went with Construct going off the idea of 3 Neverborn primary characteristics and 3 Arcanist primary characteristics. I do think all Carny upgrades should be duel faction. So, here goes the language for the Upgrades Bat Boy Lives! Cost 1 When purchasing this upgrade in a crew led by Cooper, it may be attached to a Minion model This model gains the Nephilim characteristic and the following ability: Black Blood Restriction: Carny, Limited Hall of Mirrors Cost 2 When purchasing... This model gains the Mimic characteristic and the following ability: Which One is Real? Restriction: Carny, Limited Fiji Mermaid Cost 3 When purchasing... This model gains the Woe characteristic and the following ability: Unnerving: Models within 1 suffer a to all duels Restriction: Carny, Limited The Turk Cost 1 When purchasing... This model gains the Construct characteristic and the following ability: Armor +1 Restriction: Carny, Limited I'm A Dancer! Cost 2 When purchasing... This model gains the Showgirl characteristic and the following ability: Don't Mind Me Restriction: Carny, Limited Missing Link (personally, I like Chimera) Cost 3 This model gains the Beast characteristic and the following ability: Three-Headed With Lola, I like an idea of her having an action that is like Lure/Peekabo. I was thinking of it being called Walks Like A Woman where the model is pulled it's walk towards Lola and then has the trigger Talks Like A Man where then Lola can move his walk towards the model, and if ends within range, may take a melee attack. Playing off the lyric. However, I do have some qualms about it as some may find it incredibly offensive/insensitive. Da Git, see an earlier post I made about Cooper's Silken Scarf and the triggers Strangulate and Garrote, Kalkris liked them. Sadly, lunch is over and I ran out of time to work on Mercury. Maybe tonight. I like some of Da Git's ideas and may play with them.
  20. OK, my computer here at work is screwing with me, so I cannot copy and paste or quote, but I wanted to respond. The Showgirl/Carny Characteristic and Infiltration. My thought is Lola (NB), Lizzy(NB), and Mercury(AR) are Showgirls so Cooper can always hire them regardless of faction with Infiltration (Showgirls). The Flying Monkeys would be duel faction. The Run Away With Me ability is then sort of Cooper's signature aspect that he makes all around him Carnys and can alter their characteristics with the Carny upgrades, so no one know what is real at the Carnival. This can possibly be extended that even Minions with the Carny characteristic can be given 1 Carny upgrade (a modification of McCabe's ability to give Wastrels his upgrades). The Carny Upgrades: Bat Boy Lives! looks like we are in agreement. Cost 1 works. Beyond the Veil, I was trying to come up with a for the Woe characteristic based on review of all other Woes and what is their common thread. We could try something less powerful, like just a to WP duels within a certain . Cost 1 or 2, depending on nature of and size. As for the idea of going with the Unnerving ability as it is written above as a 3SS upgrade for Lola, that could work. I would call the Upgrade Fiji Mermaid. What about Hall of Mirrors as the name of the Mimic upgrade? I also have no problem with it giving Which One Is Real? over Manipulative I'm A Dancer! Sorry, its just too perfect. If people have a problem with the reference, come up with something else. Cost 2 works considering the ability. I like the Beast upgrade, but what about calling it Missing Link, The Gaff, or Chimera? Giving Three Headed I think works mechanically. Cost 3 works. I do have an idea for a third Arcanist Carny Upgrade: The Turk This model gains the Construct characteristic. It also gains the following Ability Armor +1 Cost 1 Those are my ideas. I can't wait to see the rest of Lola. I may try to work on Mercury later today.
  21. OK, after my initial thought on the characteristic upgrades, here's what mulled about in my head on my drive home from work. Cooper has Infiltration (Showgirls), allowing him to hire up to 4 models with the Showgirl characteristic, regardless of faction. He then has the ability Run Away With Me: All models hired by this Master receive the Carny characteristic. Then have a series of 1ss upgrades that are for Carny. These would not count against a model's upgrade total and no Carny model can have more than one Carny upgrade. Rare 1 or 2 Bat Boy Lives!: The model gains the Nephilim characteristic. It also gains the following ability: Black Blood Beyond The Veil!: The model gains the Woe characteristic. It also gains the following ability: Unnerving: Models within 1 of this model take a to all duels Eng and Cheng: The model gains the Mimic characteristic. It also gains the following ability: Manipulative (13) I'm A Dancer!: The model gains the Showgirl characteristic. It also gains the following ability: Don't Mind Me This allows any Enforcer or Henchmen to become an infiltrator of the carnival and plays off the aspect of carnies coming from all walks of life. Lola and Lizzy would still be infiltrating Neverborn, but now you can play around with other models.
  22. This has been absolutely fascinating to watch. If I may jump in with a few suggestions. First, with Cooper's "Strangulate" trigger, shouldn't it be a instead of ? Using would keep it consistent with Howard's Decapitate and Misaki's Assassinate, which are the same actions. What if "Strangulate" is , but does 2/3/4 damage instead of 1/1/2 and then have "Garrote" be and does the kill unless sacrificing two cards or two soulstones? The Center Stage ability is interesting, but I am also thinking that Cooper should have a Prompt like ability. I am thinking something like: (1) If I May Direct Your Attention... (Ca 6 :tome/TN 14 :tome/Rg 10) Place any friendly model within 6 inches of this model. The placed model than gains Companion/Accomplice (whichever one will let it activate after Cooper). Three Ring Circus The moved model takes 1 AP after placed Regarding Mercury, I am thinking he should not be a Neverborn replaced. I think he should be Cooper's last human ally. In the story, after he wrestles the lion and is horribly torn up, he soaks in the applause, almost like he is addicted to the limelight. As badly as he is torn up, it seems hard to imagine him as a Nephilim. What if he is a human, but feeds of the Haze? Maybe he is similar to the Rail Golem in that he wants to have the Haze and can use it to do a kind of Locomotion? (0) I Want To Break Free... (Ca 5/TN10) This model reduces its Haze by 1 and performs 1 walk or Melee attack The Show Must Go On This model can take the I Want To Break Free action again An idea for Cooper upgrades. What if there is something where models that are hired are given Neverborn characteristics? The idea that performers in the crew have been replaced. Something that will give a model the characteristics of Nephilim, Woe, Swampfiend, Darkened, or NIghtmare? It is upgrades that are restricted to crews hired by Cooper, but are put on the other models. The Nephilim upgrade would give it Black Blood. The Woe upgrade gives that model some kind of negative aura. (I Want To Break Free by Queen actually started playing on my iPod as I began typing up this post)
  23. I loved the Dark Carnival story, and am absolutely picking up their box set at GenCon. What I loved about the story is that it inspired me to make some alternate models based on members of the carnival not in the box. Mr. Peanuts: Slate Ridge Mauler The ribbon acrobats: Coryphee Also, my Boris the Dancing Bear and Cojo in a bowler (see avatar) will slide right into place with these people.
  24. I would say Marcus is a good starter box/master to team with Colette. I enjoy a razorspine rattler and performer near each other to deal poison and sip of wine. It is fun using beasts with Myranda as a henchman and going with a kind of "circus" crew.
