  1. I'd keep Hannah. The copy cat isn't much to look at, regardless of who has painted it.
  2. Going off the beta files, the shafted ability only works on your own scheme markers.
  3. I originally wanted a rewrite but I did not know what I would have wanted. So I think making it a (0) action was a good move and perhaps we will see some synergies with wave 2 models.
  4. Did crooked men receive any changes between the beta and printing? Specifically the shafted ability.
  5. I recently put Mort + "favorite shovel" upgrade to good use with Seamus + "not to banged up" upgrade along with some belles and punk zombies. The plan was to use the belles to pull models towards me while mort would push my punk zombies up to engage. Mort spamed 'fresh meat' for the much of the game with the occasional 'fling rot' on targets of opportunity, hard-to-kill/armored/mostly dead targets. It was an effective strategy in this game as my schemes involved interacting with my opponents crew rather than traversing the board.
  6. Looks great. Also I can not recommend this project enough to anyone without a suitable malifaux table topper. I've made a 3x3 gaming mat following the same tutorial and have plans to make more with different colors and textures. With pre-measuring being allowed i have lightly marked out a centre point and the standard 6" deployment zones.
  7. I would suggest changing the little bullet holes to something else, perhaps little ink blots keeping with the overall theme. Other than that I'm quite impressed by this deck.
  8. Rage!!! I loved that game back in the day and just recently I have been grabbing some of the cards I needed to complete a couple of old sets. Interestingly enough it is still played online via a program called Lackey and there have been several fan made sets. http://werewolfccg.tumblr.com/ http://rageccg.proboards.com/ Also you can listen to a podcast about the history of the Rage ccg and the pitfalls that led to a very slow (almost)death [-spoiler, netrunner is blamed at a certain point *gasp*] and its ability to linger on with only fan support. http://darkerdays2.podbean.com/2011/07/14/darker-days-radio-episode-27/
  9. I'm excited! I haven't been motivated to play v1 since the v2 announcement. My play group is very small and I hope the new edition opens the game up to more players. Are the playtest rules in a "card" format? can i print, cut them out and sleeve the playtest rules/cards or will I have a seperate stack of pages for miniature rules.
  10. Its rumored that Steampunk Arachnids will be renamed Clockwork Dogs in m2e, dogs have 4 legs. "Cute dog. Do you have to wind it up?" "No, it's steam powered",.... In all seriousness I believe that the miniature names are there for us players. The folk of malifaux would call half a dozen creatures "Abominations", lump much of the undead together as "Zombies" and call neverborn creatures either "Neverborn" or "Nephilim".
  11. The Malifools! ahead of the pack with an M2E podcast. I guess it's one of the benefits of not being in the closed beta.
  12. I bet its late for malifools questions but I'm wondering what format the beta rules/cards will be in? Like will they have mock ups of the miniature cards and equipment cards for the beta test?
  13. I guess part of what I was trying to ask were some of the conditions that add to balance. ---Faction vs faction or hiring pools, stratagey and scheme limitations. Personally I liked the change from declaring a faction to declaring a faction and master in the new gaining grounds. It was hardly an issue in my small scene but a couple times it stopped complete surprise/crew selection wins.
  14. I have heard many statements of Malifaux V1.x being a "Balanced" game and I'm in no way experienced enough to dispute that claim. However every time the term Balanced is used, it is almost always followed up by various provisions defining what an balanced play environment means to one particular group or person. I'm wondering what people thought was the best point of balance for competitive games inside or outside of tournament play? My group is quite small so we are still discussing master selection and player experience before the games and haven't reached a competitive level for pick up games.
  15. So I was about to pick up the pathfinder & traps box to add the traps into my hoffman crew and I started think. Are they just a fluffy choice for him because they're constructs, or are there greater synergies with the hoffman crew that warrant me purchasing them and fielding them in my crew?
  16. I bought my Yan-Lo box in a shop and all the cards were correct but there was no chi card. I would like to see a printable card so we can skip the waste in shipping stat cards.
  17. Best advice I can give for a new kirai player weather you are trying to grow or not. -Gather up your starting miniatures/cards, shuffle and deal your hand, then try to play out your opening moves. After a couple of attempts you should get the hang of what you can do with a specific hand and how it will influence your turn.
  18. My issue would be that lure is towards and not directly towards. The rules on pg 34 in book1.5 say that a model may move to avoid terrain so long as they do not end there movement further away from the caster then they began. However the towards/away rules do not mention that you can avoid markers (i.e.. flame wall) and the specific rules on markers say that they are not considered terrain. pg 22
  19. Do Flame Wall markers count as terrain for the purpose of lure? Example: Sonnia casts Flame Wall in front of her minions and with a narrow gap I am able to lure them forward. If the markers count as terrain they could try to avoid it, Lure being a "push towards". However there is no mention of avoiding markers, or if the Flame Wall markers are actual terrain and so then avoidable. -Thanks for your insight.
  20. Hoffman is not removing ItI from the construct. The construct may choose to ignore his own ItI via Hoffman's Maintain Machines ability. I play it on a case by case basis with ItI always "on"
  21. I have yet to face Pandora so thank you everyone for the advice. What schemes would you recommend taking against a Pandora crew? I have yet to face her but I would be tempted to hire a Canine Remains and place -Frame for Murder- on it. Keep the dog hidden and safe until it can run up to Pandora and lose a wp duel with her, die and net 1-2 VP's
  22. The confusion comes about from the section dealing with the obscuring trait referencing singular bases using -a/an- with nothing about a total distance.
  23. Here is a situation that I encountered while playing a game and we were not sure of the proper rules interpretation. Seamus is standing in an obscuring forest base trying to target Mei Feng on another obscuring forest base. From master to master it goes; 2" obscuring[base1]-- 2" open ground-- 2" obscuring[base2] Can Seamus draw LOS to Mei as neither of them is greater then 3" into there respective obscuring base? or would you add up the total distance that is obscuring for a total of 4" and therefore no LOS? We played that Seamus could in fact see her and granted Mei soft cover.
  24. I think it is ideal to have some mid sized pieces that can easily be rearranged between games. In my area I have seen the AT-43 shipping containers used but they are harder to find these days, personally I settled on a modern military kit from the hobby shop. I have also bought a couple of civil war "officer's tent" plastic toys from the big box craft store.(use a coupon) http://reigningreplicas.com/collection/collectionproductlist?collection_id=17&group_id=5&productid=650704 The tents are a good example as you can create a theme just by arranging them differently, say circled vs. spread out.
  25. Trying to pull off everything in the first turn can seem overwhelming. I would recommend that you try it out a couple of times on your own outside of an actual game.
