  1. Thanks, Zephir! More and more, I think Molly is going to be my intro Resser. I have played Kirai several times and she is great both visually and game-wise and she will be an eventual buy, but she will forever be another Faction to me, so she waits at the bottom of the list. Molly, Raspy, or Kaeris will be next.
  2. Slapping Spirits into the Ressers did not fix the Faction, they ruined it. Kirai and her spirits should have been held for the Ten Thunders Asian-themed Faction. I love her but she does not fit. Her minions stick out like sore thumbs and while that does not mean much to those who also have no problem bringing Von Schill in their Resser crew, it looks silly having a giant spirit bat and a crazy bat lady in a diaper in a crew of corpses. Thank you to CJ for pointing out at the end that the Ressers got hosed outside of the spirits. Guild Autopies and Crooligans need to be fixed and Ressers need to get back to what they were thematically from Book 1, Victorian horror.
  3. +1 Finally, a purist. Stick to YOUR story. Malifaux is most fun when you can imagine the scenario playing out on the board in front of you. Yes, you are at a disadvantage. Yes, you will lose to people who like to take the latest tricks. So what? It is a miniatures game. I would rather have an opponent that has a story to tell than some guy who, shockingly, brings Von schill half the time. Cheers.
  4. How is this done with the Ressers? Like others have said, Poison is the Critical Strike of the Resser Faction, how can an automatic effect be controlled other than not attacking with that model or not even taking that model in your crew because their main attack is now HIGHLY situational? One fix would be to allow the choice of Poison being dispensed, or not, but then we are looking at the Resser's offensive boost being diminished, i.e., Crooligans are back to a 1/2/3 damage spread which is terrible for a 4 SS model. If Poison was not meant to be a DOT attack, what was the reason for Poison? If it is to just "soften up" someone, just keep the name Poison and make it like Critical Strike: Damage that hits now and counts for the minion that dished it. Why not put it on par with the likes of Flay and Critical Strike? I am all for it going in the other direction of Poison being a DOT attack that adds a suspense element to the game. Your Judge has 3 turns to either fulfill his mission or find a cure, but you don't have time to do both; the choice is yours. That is excitement, not killing 30 rats for an hour and a half.
  5. Uh, guys......... Sonnia can't take any of those. According to the Crew Creator, you get: Purifying Flame Governer's Proxy Student of Confict Drill Sergeant Brutal Effigy Malifaux Child
  6. Good catch! I read that wrong, thinking the Ressers got some good news. I thought since they had put in errata, that it changed ....... but it stayed the same. So, now three crooligans all hitting for Poison 1 STILL leave only Poison 1 on their victim AND that Poison 1 is not yours to claim. I have yet to see an reason to take any minion with Poison. In the games where it is important who dies and how they die, Poison is a limitation, not an advantage. I know it is not in all cases for most Masters, but poor Molly is stuck with Poison-dealers in all matches until she gets a much larger force. I am hoping Book 4 will bring her 4-6 new options, be they new models or just access to older Resser models. Thast and I think Rafkin is an AWESOME sculpt. I really need a reason to get him and get him on the table. Thanks for all the responses. As always, you guys are great! ---------- Post added at 08:58 AM ---------- Previous post was at 08:55 AM ---------- +1
  7. That makes Crooligans pacifists considering their attack automatically adds Poison 1 and I am sure there are others like Rafkin that are diminished because of the risk. There are easy ways to keep track of who placed what, but I am sure you are right, Nilus. It is just sad they hobbled an ability that looked to be developing into a cool DOT option. Rafkin is off the buy list now, as is Molly and her box unless someone can tell me how this change is a boon to those that trigger Poison automatically.
  8. I was happy to see this ruling: Poison # When a model is hit by an attack with Poison # or affected by an Ability with Poison #, increase the number of Poison Tokens the model has to the # indicated either after resolving the attack, or as indicated by the Ability. Each time the model begins an activation it suffers 1 Wd per Poison Token it has, and then discards one Poison Token. Then, this ruling killed it: I Poison a model and it later dies due to that Poison, do I get credit for the kill? No, Tokens do not remember who applied them. Hmmm......... two things about this. A) Why? What is logic behind this? That is like a defense attorney saying their client did not kill their wife, the poison did. The first question asked would be, "did he pour the poison?" If "yes", he killed her - he gets full credit. Since the model made an action whose effect caused the demise of the target, why do they not get credit for it? While making it more powerful by stacking the tokens, it seems like it is a spell/trigger you want to avoid now unless you just want to kill a model and not have it count toward VP. I can't think of a time I would see the benefit in using AP for that. Why would I risk putting Poison on someone who manages to avoid enough attacks to keep one Wd by the end of that last turn when the Poison takes the final Wd and they die and all my attacks (AP) mean nothing? Why Poison at all now? Am I missing something? As I see it: Santiago Ortega (8 Wd) is attacked by three Wicked Dolls. Wicked Doll 1 does 4 damage and Triggers Poison 2. Wicked Doll 2 does 4 damage next, but Hard to Kill keeps him alive with 1 Wd left. Wicked Doll 3 misses on both AP. Turn ends. Next turn, Santiago activates and dies from Poison which prevents Neverborn from getting Kill Protegee or any other Scheme/Strat that would have involved this 7 SS model. When is Poison the best choice?
  9. Just responding to the attack the poster was making against everyone who is actually talking about game balance. They wanted to derail the conversation by saying it is the player's fault for any issues they may have. Blaming the victim is not the way to fix things. And, yes, taking Von Schill in a Resser crew is garbage and it points to balancing issues because if you have to go outside your Faction and pull in a Merc who sticks out like fly in the soup and pay that many SS to get him, that means he is THAT good and there is no one in the Faction that compares. When you dip into other crews to compete OR play "fluff" just as a powderpuff match and not to win, then there is a problem with the balance. No disrespect to anyone but I will state the facts. Also, getting back to the balance issue, you said, " no, they do not take him to win." What is your evidence of this? Why else spend 1/3 of your SS to get him? Again, there is nothing wrong with taking him in order to ensure victory. The conversation is on the game, not the players. Players who want to win will exploit the system and that is why we are talking about the various points of exploitation. Saying it does not exist is naive.
  10. Taking Von Schill in a crew is like putting bumpers in a bowling lane. Your score may get better and you will win games but you are still garbage. Admit you take him to win games....... I take that back: admit to yourself that you take him so you can win games - we already know.
  11. You know that Jack Daw is banned from most tournaments, right? Why is that? Hmmmmmm....... Also, what are you talking about with the allergy? No, the allergy is not broken, but the immune system that cannot process the nut IS broken, so good job on arguing FOR the game being broken.
  12. What makes Malifaux broken are the rules: they keep changing. We just got more errata...... rules are too vague in the book that their meaning is up in the air until there is a ruling on the forum, but guess what? I cannot go on the internet every time to check for the rules. I cannot go on the internet to make sure LCB is allowed to do that........ I love this game but it is all over the place with rules and stats. I would be fine if they went a few months without making any new models and just finally made ONE rulebook, ONE source that had what the gamer needs to play the game and sticking with it....... no more 1.5, 2,0, 2.5. Is this Microsoft?
  13. Just be sure you check the sizing....... a lot of the "28mm" out there does not match well with Malifaux, IMHO. I hate playing on terrain where my models are running through Munchkin land with tiny trees and tiny buildings. You make dead trees from picture hanging wire and tin foil. It takes 0 skill and you get sizing that actually fits right. Also, hardware stores carry river rock which you can use for boulders. Hobby stores carry vinyl mats already covered in grass flocking. Those three things together can go a long ways and they look much better than a lot of stuff you pay more to have shipped to you.
  14. The 2012 deck is fantastic. You did a better job of capturing the feel of Malifaux than the official cards! Keep up the great work. Great art is always a treat.
  15. I agree withe sentiment that an alt sculpt is pretty lame considering they will do it anyways. They will have alt sculpts for most if not all Henchmen because it makes them money. They are a business. Why not offer a brand new henchman to the winners? OR........ why not let people who actually played as that winning faction during the campaign to vote through their Regional Henchman and select a henchman or minion to alt sculpt. It makes more sense, if it is a true victory, to have the victors decide their faction's future. This just feels like a Choose-your-own-adventure book that has a few set endings....... not as exhilerating knowing they already have all of the henchmen sculpted and will just release the one belonging to the winners first. That said, I LOVE the idea of campaigns just for the sake of campaigning and I look foward to many more, just for the sake of being a part of an awesome story. Guild Unite!
  16. That is an awesome idea! ---------- Post added at 09:30 AM ---------- Previous post was at 09:15 AM ---------- Thanks for the heads up! I hope she gets a beatstick or a some heavy artillery. She needs some Wd/Dg dealers.
  17. The Blood Countess. Good call, Gensuke626. Or , how about a nanny who control kid's? Let her take Necropunks, crooligans, baby kade, candy, terror tots, etc. Who was not freaked by Children of the Corn and Pet Cemetary? Still, I agree with Sandwich, too. Maybe if they gave Molly Ht 1 access or some kind of "little guys" theme, she would be the true Resser. Why I say Kirai is not a true Resser is because she does not control flesh, she raises ghosts. Ressers are sci-fi, Kirai is fantasy. If we knew what we were doing, ressurection is possible, there is little to no evidence of ghosts (sorry, guys, wish there was......) The Ressers were seeking forbidden knowledge and melding Earth science with Malifaux science....... Kirai is not. Molly is closer to a Female Resser Master and I really hope they expand her Support models: new or old.
  18. Let me start by saying Kirai is great........ but she is not a true Resser. Molly could be great, but she has very little in the way of crew options. Am I the only one who thinks we need a new Resser Master, a female Resser Master? What would be her theme? I think she should have access to all of the same minions as the Nico, Seamus, and the Dr., but what would be her fluff? Frankenstein's Bride? Horror movie Nurse? Black Widow poisoner? Lizzie Borden? Evil little girl who has tea parties with corpses ( could be the ying to The Dreamer's yang)?
  19. I agree with having more Canine Remains and Witchling Stalkers. I would like to see better Nurses and another set of Terror Tots and Ice/Fire Gamin. Sometimes you want a swarm of ankle-biters...........
  20. Two other great points. I love that Watcher!
  21. My request was for a female Resser....... a true Resser, not the Ghost Whisperer (Yes, Kirai is awesome). I know there are plenty of female Masters, that was not the complaint. Wyrd is listening and I am asking and saying there is a market for a female Resser who can take Canine Remains, Punk Zombies, Night Terrors, Necropunks, et al. ---------- Post added at 09:04 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:03 PM ---------- Please, please, please be something good. She could be awesome if given a little more clout.
  22. Also, give the Viks some SS. A 0 pool? Really? Yes, you get 2 Masters, but they are not Dreamer level Masters. It is not like having Lilith and Lady J. I play 25 SS games and I get to take 3 models just so I have 8 SS to keep my supposedly great masters alive. Bump up their Df to 8 or give them a better Wk/Cg or some other abilities so they are something more than overpriced Ronin and actually worth taking. I love Malifaux and I love you guys at Wyrd, but you need to show your original Masters some love and give them a makeover considering they are going up against greats like Dreamer, Hamlin, Pandora, and Collette. Again, Some more Female Masters! I got my girlfriend playing because of the Viks and I know a lot more gamer girls will ditch the other mini games if the female presence is commanding. Molly was a step back, guys. Please give Molly some more choices. PLEASE!!!!!! You and everyone in the Malifaux community rocks. Best Forums I have ever been on. This is a really great game.
