  1. One benefit of the trapper against this set up is that thy can deploy from the shadows and should be able to take out an Abom thus stopping the engine. I did this against a Viks player in a recent tourney and while the viks did what they did, it lost him a card and the desolation engine. That said, i'm a fan of 4 aboms for the same shenanigans.
  2. Hey @bikingviking you should go to this one. Good crowd
  3. Nice. Actually would like to see some alt models for masters again as general release pieces or Guilders. Not just sale specials. Please......
  4. I like the element of randomness it adds to the game. It's not a lot, but it's there. It represents the unexpected. The anything could happen at any given time. The swings are also occasionally quite extreme, but it does happen. It severely hampered one game where Levi, having hit hit trigger for ABOMS 4 times to only flip the BJ each and every time...did it ruin my game....yes, okay it did, but it's given me a great story to bore the jeepers out of people with. I'll honestly never forget that. I've also cheated down to get more negatives to increase my chances of a RJ which has worked. Golden. I've also sat and said to my oppo, who is just about to finish off a key model and a key time "only the BJ will ruin your day right now" to see the BJ flipped. It sucks, of course, but it's great thematically. I think the jokers work perfectly as they are and would oppose any change to their current function.
  5. Just want to say a quick thanks for running the event and to my three opponents, Rich, Ben and George. Three really close games with me scraping a draw with my last activation of the turn 5 to finish the day unbeaten and my highest placed finish to date. Really great venue and I hope you run many more as I will attend. Facilities were great. Leg Waxing was spectacular.
  6. Universally the Trapper would make a great bit of business. I'd likely vote for an Alt Ama No Zako. I like the current model but hey let's go for another.
  7. I totally second a Samantha Hopkins. That would be great. Failing this...Alt Executioner would be nice, the pictures looked great.
  8. a good 6 months practice...you should be golden by then. Welcome on board.
  9. Hello All, After a bit of a hiatus i've been pestered into running another event. A new venue will be used as follows; Jubilee Centre, Manygate Lane, Shepperton, TW17 9EE. The venue is where Middlesex Marauders gaming group play each week and i'm hoping to get @Zac involved once again (if he doesn't go on holiday....) Shepperton train station is about 5 mins walk and there is plenty of parking . It'll be a 3 round, 50ss event using GG2018 (if they indeed do one) or similar and will be a ranked event. Tickets will be priced at £15. The draw will be done using Bag O'Tools. Okay, tickets are now on sale. Limited initially to 28 players which we might be able to expand to 32. Please send payment by Paypal to walstowk@yahoo.com friends and family please. Prize support may or may not be obtained as I've heard there may be issues, however, we will do our best. Needless to say, there will be some prizes in some form. Oh, and tea. Please PM here once paid so I can check. TTFN. Entrants 1. Nico Gaillet 2. Mark Stevens 3. Peter James Karl McConnell 4. 10. Would a limit on team sizes address the issue in any capacity?
  11. I sort of understand this argument. So, back to the sub question raised. Would you NOT attend a tourney if you weren't guarantee'd, round 1, to be kept apart from a team mate. I've organised tourney's in the past and always kept people apart but i'm trying to get as many opinions as possible to see what the majority want. Personally i think if you involve yourself to any degree in picking or stopping opponents playing in any round it CAN skew things.
  12. As round 2 onwards doesn't usually avoid team-mates....what difference does it make then whether you could play them round 1 or round 2? And again, i'm only asking a question.
  13. I hear that Marshall bloke IS stopping running GG events.... But in all seriousness, and i've been thinking about this more, I think if you want to avoid playing people then events just shouldn't be ranked. All personal I appreciate but unless you want to go down a kind of tennis style ranking system to keep people apart i'm just not convinced that keeping anyone apart is the right thing to do. Okay, slight change of question. Would you NOT go to a tourney then if there was a chance you'd play a team mate round 1?
  14. Your team was looking a little sparse on numbers.....8)
  15. Usually the stores have them no later than the end of September. Usually a bit earlier.
  16. For prestige 2 day events only. surely fairer than not being able to make 4 events minimum through the year?
  17. It was intended to be a bit of fun really. The theory behind the Master slot was almost like a wildcard element. After all, they'd be the best player of a certain type. Personally, i'd likely also give one to the winner of both English, Welsh and Scottish GT's as well. With Nationals and The Rainbow and previous Masters Winner? That leaves a potential 10 spots for rankings per se. But that's for others to make calls on. As said though, it was the wildcard element i liked.
  18. Hi All, Having looked at my rankings in tournaments it struck me that aside from Guild I've played all factions. To address this I will be playing Guild at a tournament this year....because. It got me thinking, would it be fun to have a ranking each year for those that have played one of each faction over a 12 month period? An average of 7 results maybe taking the best 4 (or all 7) but have to have played one of each? I'd even take it a step further and open up a Masters Spot for such a worthy player. Just my tuppence worth to add a bit of fun to all the faction hoppers that this game ultimately creates. What are anyone else's thoughts on this? Do-able?
  19. This was more a question that a statement of desire. It's healthy to ask questions after all. So, so far people overwhelmingly prefer keeping team mates apart. Cool. Even where something is established, it's not unhealthy to raise whether the continued practice is still, in the majorities opinion, welcome. On this matter it would seem it is and that's good. Just something I wanted to ask.
  20. That i'm not sure. Not many Gremlin Masters appeal to me. Somer seems a little non player experience for the oppo and a little dull. Ophelia is a bit straight forward. Wong looks okay, Zipp and Mah i've not looked at.....as a non-gremlin player i'd say Brewmaster and Ulix look the most fun, if the least competitive. I had a lot of fun with Brewie....mind you, he can be a total non player experience. In the past however i've played Nico, Pandora, Levi and about to go to Hamelin. Maybe i just like masters that annoy the oppo.... How does Chiaki counter Brewie out of curiosity?
  21. i've only ever played Gremlins once in a tournament and to prove a point to a friend took mono Brewmaster (in a fixed faction tourney). I finished 8th of 30 plus players and took best gremlin player. Brewmaster isn't underpowered necessarily maybe just seen less. He doesn't kill anything BUT he really can stop other people killing/achieving stuff. Have Francois around the bubble taking things out very easily and you've a great start.
  22. I do see the point, but my thoughts were, in a ranking event, it is messing with the results by stopping players that know each other playing in round one for fear of annoying them. This, in my opinion, is therefore causing a potential imbalance in rankings. I say potential because obviously you can't say for certain. I know of two highly ranked players that one of them can very rarely beat the other. If this happens on the top table in round 4 or round 1 does this make a difference? It's a tournament, yes, so does this not make it fairer?
  23. Boom. Half tickets sold already. Good Work that man.
  24. Datsu Ba synergises really well. Nicodem can give bonuses to ML and CA attacks. Datsu Ba, if made fast, is potentially getting 6 attacks if triggers are hit. I've always been a fan of Datsu and Nico.
  25. Hi All, just thought to write a post about something that is on my mind a bit lately. The scene in the UK has grown quite a lot in the last few years and as such we have seen teams spring up with some now containing as many as 14 members. This is awesome. One thing however that i'd like to raise is the issue of team mates not playing each other in the first round of tournaments. I could understand in early days where 2 or 3 people literally only played each other but now it seems potentially unfair for a number of reasons. 1. It can potentially inflate (or deflate) the team rankings. 2. It seems a little unfair on everyone else that a team who could all be uber competitive and possibly very good players DON't play each other the first round. If they did play each other first round then only half would win or there would be a few more draws. After all they may know each other so well. As mentioned, in the early days I understood why you'd not want to really play the person you drove up there with, but I think in the interest of complete fairness the system should be altered to mean anyone who signs up to a tourney can indeed play anyone, anytime, including the first round. What are everyone else's thoughts? Does it still happen? It might be the practice has ended but bypassed me entirely.
