  1. totally agree. Minimal adjustment is the way to go. Things started out on a reasonable foot in this thread and quickly got out of hand in my opinion. I think limiting the dreamer to one or no daydreams on the first turn limits him from getting out and back pretty nicely. The option still exists to move about and possibly get attacks on an enemy model that moves up a bit but prevents the complete lack of being able to prevent a model from being attacked anywhere on the board (as i've been playing Levi lately this ability is irritating to say the least). If chompy (or the dreamer) gets stranded out front things can go south for the crew very quickly. As any dreamer player will tell you not getting the all done trigger is a teeth gritting experience. The be all end all reputation is based on the ability to get in and hit like a ton of bricks, and then get out. Being able to get to literally any model on the board turn one, drop off two lelus and a lillitu possibly a stitched or two, and get out of range of any retaliation is better than any master in the game. But don't go too crazy on the cuddles. Limiting daydreams to one or none has not just got the effect of keeping him from being able to come back (with only one) or reach out and touch someone (with two) but also effectively reduces his SS pool. Sure daydreams only cost him 2 SS to cast, but that means with one he has a maximum effective pool of 6 as you really need to be able to get chompy the heck out of dodge, or 4 if you limit him to none that are hirable.
  2. Played it in a 35 stone game yesterday with SPAs and it was pretty bonkers. Lady J killed it in a hit... It split out of her range...and then reformed as the next activation. Yeah... Crazy Looking at it with Nico is just bonkers as it become 9cb with three attacks df 7 hard to wound 2
  3. Just want to say I REALLY like the paint scheme on Storm. I may steal a bit of it if I get him, which as we all know is the sincerest form of flattery I can give you.
  4. an alternate browse format for mobile devices would solve a lot of the problem. I love the new site too... but its hell on the iphone.
  5. yeah only 30mm for that one. I would look at DnD minis for what you are describing personally. I would look at the Windfiend Fury. Pretty good whirlwind with some glueing on of bits/green stuff I think you are good to go. Also... clear and nifty.
  6. What nilus said. It bears repeating that while you don't need anything but the rulebook and models that you play with, you will very likely enjoy the fluff, and may benefit from having the referrence that the other books provide by having the stats for all the models. I have all three despite all but a very few in the first book being available in their V2 form via PDF from the Wyrd website.
  7. No. Not to "break" them so that players can use net lists to pwn their gaming groups. I really wish I had a filter on the forum to change "broken" into "ridiculously awesome" as the term broken is effectively meaningless to me now except to irritate me with how often it is tossed about. I really feel like the int3rwebz have done Malifaux a disservice in this regard as I am finding it difficult to get players into the game due to the percieved imbalance. Wyrd has done a very good job (in my opinion) being cautious and yet still making revisions to existing rules/cards. Warmahoardes to some extent can be seen as a good example of this, while confrontation can be seen as an example of what not to do. I have often disagreed with people over the ways to produce balance and refer to the lesson to be learned from the MtG homelands and fallen empires debacle of blandness. I feel some tweeks to bring book 1 masters/minions more in line with book two is preferable to dumbing down book 2 and being in danger of boring me. Your milage may vary and some reductions in power ARE necessary, such as with alps, but dangerous as you can overdo it easily... like by making alps insignificant. Be very careful what you wish for. I'm extremely pleased that people such as Calmdown and Magicpockets are really pushing the play possiblities with other factions and masters, even if Calmdown does come across as a big downer on the ressers (ahem... take a look at his play record before you go thinking the ressers other than kirai suck). As you point out it is possible to really not make it work and pick a faction that is full of the easy button. Thus i'm irritated with this thread and those that are about convincing people NOT to play something. Pick it up and play it because it is interesting and make it work man! I realize you can make arguments that the point of the thread is for that kind of comment but... come on... how often is that what convinces you? I'm not certain that mosquitoes really need a fix right now any more than anything else. I would like to see some bury mechanic tweeks but thats a super tricky fix. We see a tremendous amount of complaining about what is "broken" on the boards but very little "this is how I would make it work" talk. Thats super sad, if you don't have some suggestions about how to make it better I don't have much respect for your critisism. So to wrap up and bring this back to the topic... Sorry I think you SHOULD play ressers. Its more fun to work on a puzzle that will hold your attention because it is tricky to solve than to push the "god mode" button and get bored after a few playthroughs. While you play if you think of some helpful ways in which Wyrd might make the game better as a whole and bring all the factions into line on a power scale all the better. You may find (as I do) that the power balance is way more in favor of a skilled player than any faction power imbalance. Play hard, have fun, become a good player, work with the community to make a good game even better.
  8. you get one standard yup. nope, you get one and can get another for total two in play. they can be good as part of the crew
  9. I dunno which models you are specifically referring to but it really doesn't matter. The answer is however it will look right to you.
  10. I had a great time. I'm planning on brining a different couple of crews next week. The Primordial magic casting dementia on Pandora works I think, you just can't cast it on yourself. Chompy is able to zoom all over the board and do nasty attack sequences to things and zoom back. I just about hung myself out to dry with him twice in our game and did leave him hanging out twisting in the wind the one time. I think it can make for a no fun play experience but being able to zoom all over yourself (or have other nasty tricks) makes up for it a lot. If you had the sorrow with you chompy would have been dead (as he only had one wound left when you were done beating on him with Pandora) that would have changed the game significantly in your favor.
  11. Your stuff, your fun, your call. I think the Cryx minis are pretty cool. If you should happen to make them converted a bit to be more Malifaux like to the masses, great. If you like them just the way they are and can get games in with people that don't mind, go for it.
  12. So if a shot into melee ends up targeting a model that is out of range of the weapon/spell then it also fizzles? Firing into melee seems pretty straight forward with the sequence as laid out by Nix if so. Cheers to Nix for having illustrated it so nicely. My point was that the Brits did NOT lose due to inferior tactics or regimentation but rather due to dwindling supplies. Several times the casualties were inflicted in battles upon the americans by the british. Scurvy was a massive killer of the british however.
  13. So... I am very interested in this thread and perhaps i'm getting something wrong as, I thought I had it, and then I looked at Nix's blog. This sequence: So, a Fire Gamin (ht 1) shooting a tot in melee with Hamelin would go like this: 1. I want to shoot the Tot 1a. I still wanna shoot the Tot 1a1. I have LOS to the Tot 1a2. Damn, the Tots in Melee 1a2a. Yup, he's in melee with Hamelin 1a2b. Flip Flip damn, I flipped lowest for Hamelin 1a2c. Now I'm shooting Hamelin 1a2d. Ok, lets shoot Hamelin 1a3. Damn, Hamlin's a bully and I can't shoot him 1b. Screw this, it doesn't matter any more... I just blew an AP does it really work like that? I was under the impression the hit would happen despite Bully as the intended target was missed and Hamelin just got in the way. Otherwise you can tailor a shot to auto hit the intended target even if they are in Melee as the others will be out of range or other qualifiers that prevent the targeting. Perhaps i'm misunderstanding yet again. ---------- Post added at 03:47 PM ---------- Previous post was at 03:38 PM ---------- Don't want to derail the thread more than it has been but... its an odd thing that in america it is often taught in schools that those silly Brits would have done better if they had not stood in lines and had instead hid behind trees and fired off shots like the clever americans. This is utter bull and all one really needs to do to see why is to fire an actual brown bess or charleville musket to see why as the muzzle variance is several feet at the distances most skirmishes took place at. Standing in a line and firing in ranks was a far superior tactic and was likely terrifying to face. Supply will win or loose a battle for you. Lessons for Malifaux might be in that someplace.
  14. Dammit! I have missed so many things posted on the boards by a week or two lately. i hope this is still going on. I'll show up on the 8th if it is. Are there specific masters/factions you would like to see? might be motivation for me to assemble/paint one of my other crews. otherwise I'll bring my Levi and dreamer crews and be ready to demo if nothing else. You might consider mentioning this on Ordo fanaticus or I could. rage has been known to make it down and now that SWC is closed it would be nice to have a place to reliably get games in the area.
  15. There are a number of us in the Seattle area ass well.
  16. I would ask on the terraclips board. They are interested in interest about sets. The interest for the first sets has been significant enough to encourage them. I personally love mine and hope they keep producing them.
  17. This unfortunately is true and I have not figured a way to avoid it. Sad really.
  18. I'm finding Levi way more difficult to wrap my head around than the other masters I've tried. He has the appearance of an extremely strong master but I just can't find my stride with him yet.
  19. I think we need the vassal plug in to get approved Otherwise it looks like you have a way to erm... Play with yourself... That may be challenging and fun
  20. honestly I think waifs would make good scavengers... just sayin so if there was a possibility of Levi coming back then there would be scrap If they kill the waifs and Levi... well... scrap should be the least of your worries
  21. I guess dude. I just wish there were 2SS options for scavengers as has been pointed out. Or... Something. I'm not the best player in the world but it really doesn't take much to take out Levi with an awful lot of crews. This doesn't help at all and makes one of my current strategies completely worthless. I'm glad it is working out for you and you are enjoying yourself. I'm not finding Levi much fun just now and gave up on the dreamer for the opposite reasons.
  22. This is a maddeningly silly situation. I've been trying to pick up Levi but honestly come on...
  23. so... I'm sorry to necro this thread but... ROE doesn't exist any more. Seems like the blessings of desolation should get a SPA and not a rat. just wanted to check my thinking there.
  24. She looks perfect for a duplicate lillitu I must have her
