  1. i would picture that there is no hand to cheat fate with, doesnt really make sense in an rpg i think, just pulling cards from the deck to generate 1-13, exactly like a dice.
  2. a deck of cards is exactly like a d13 if you shuffle it regularly... lots of time spent sitting around a table = lots of shuffling. i dont see the problem...
  3. i think the 'story telling' aspects of an rpg is a great opportunity for wyrd to put their thousands of customers to work fleshing out the world and maybe even creating sparks of inspiration that will drive further growth. they could see it as a way to sell a few books and minis, or a way to put thousands of minds to the task of expanding the games most important asset... i think they are smart enough to see the wisdom in the latter and make things more open and less restricted.
  4. no offence to anyone but it sounds like some people had bad rpg groups if they could not come up with a decent story in the star wars universe, and were relegated to acting out parts form the movies? the whole appeal of an rpg is that you can write your own plot and not be shoehorned into something like that... malifaux needs an rpg as the setting has too much depth and grit to be contained to the battles of a handful of characters theres some options to changing the mechanics of your deck too, without breaking out the d20's. like you could even split your deck into the four suits, and use a different suit for different action types. perhaps magic use uses the tomes part, and you can spend a rest type action to shuffle it if you know theres alot of low cards left. besides any of the problems associated with deck randomness can be sorted by shuffling... and you know, theres going to be plenty of time to shuffle your cards when your sitting around playing an rpg. theres no need to go through the entire deck without a shuffle.
  5. looks like a quality packing job, colour me impressed
  6. very true! however, perhaps i have a black sense of humor or am insensitive, but i love reading this type of thing for a chuckle while i eat my cheese on toast : /
  7. Yh-Sabahal box set Dai-Bakemonos (sealed) Etat-Major de Mid-Nor (sealed) Clan Goblin box set Ejhin de Vanth (GenCon Version) MIP Mahal the Enchanger Yh-Ibenseth, Dominant Cynwall Akhamial MIP hi, interested in all the above! i guess you got your book... so let me know a price if you want to sell any of it. cheers
  8. thats not entirely correct... you cannot target him while another nightmare within 3" may be a legal target of the attack. it matters here, because if dreamer is sitting out of LOS with any number of nightmares within 3" and still out of LOS, you can shoot straight at him with no redirection, because unless those nightmares have CA7+ (i dont think any do off the top of my head) there is no other potential legal targets...
  9. alternatively, always put your 10 aside by itself. if you ever dont draw one, look relieved and put your lowest card away in the same manner. heheh my friend was like... well i know you have a ten there so i wont bother wasting my ap to kill bette.... sucker!
  10. no, since you dont get any (0) actions from the slow to die ability.
  11. well thats certainly drawing a long bow there. i dont call kirai "freeeduugle-clickclick-barrfn" that would just be ridiculous. but i say it as "ki-rah". when i say my faction is ressers and my master is "ki-rah" then you will know exactly what i mean. you might try to politely correct me and say its pronounced "kee-rah-ee", and ill say... yeah i know, but i think it sounds better my way and at the end of the day if your correcting my pronunciation then you knew exactly what i was referring to, thus the name has served its explicit purpose imo. you say potato... a rose by any other name... etc thats just my strange take on language in general tho, if you actually use a game to expand your understanding of different languages and ultimately cultures, then thats awesome anyway in its own right but if i instead choose to bastardise the word to fit my own language then its not necessarily out of ignorance, rather convenience in this case! i guess people living in different areas and exposed to different languages develop 'better' ways of making certain sounds or something? you can see this in the way different cultures developed different musical scales...
  12. interesting stuff, i find the average wounds a bit shocking.. i thought ten wounds was HUGE! have you thought about how abilities affect these figures tho? like the dreamers cache is technically one, but in practice its five. and to a lesser degree his walk is three but often its seven.
