  1. TBH, as far as I am aware, you would trigger Defend Me, and the attack would then fail, as a model cannot target itself with an attack. The reason for this, is that as soon as Marcus is hit by a charge or ranged strike, he can switch places with a friendly beast within 3". It is only after the switch that the beast in question becomes the target of the attack, so it is after the switch that the attack fails.
  2. The aethervox is great, their tactics reviews tend to be really good. I would also check out the Gamers Lounge. its also mostly malifaux, although they sometimes get hijacked by Hex Hunters. Really good show as well - lots of tactics, current discussion and interviews / reviews.
  3. hmm. 35SS list: laz alyce avatar Ramos toolkit LSA spider 5 SS cache turn 1, Toolkit detonates LSA and lab tools Ramos. Ramos salvages, summons and ECs. Lazarus assimilates use SS permanently. turn 2, Alyce Burns out Ramos, toolkit lab tools ramos, detonates itself. Lazarus copies reactivate permanently off Ramos. Ramos salvages summons and does stuff with casting expert, and then Ramos Avatars up on the second activation as an All. gives you a guaranteed turn 2 avatar, and gives lazarus Use SS and 2 activations each turn. You trade 1 LSA and your toolkit for 1 spider and an extra activation every turn for lazarus, as well as use SS. by the start of turn 3 you will have alyce, avatar ramos, lazarus, and a spider swarm doing stuff. Ramos then can keep churning stuff out if you like, (like, 2x LSA and a warden or two...) or he can go kick ass.
  4. the problem with her is that she competes for lazarus, the mech rider, and the executioner in avatar ramos lists. She makes Ramos himself better, but I've never really had much luck using her with him.
  5. one thing with Tinas box - why would you not simply buy her box set? its not all that much more, and the ice golem really becomes much more useful with snowstorm and /or avatar tina.
  6. Hi folks, I am planning on running some Malifaux demos this coming thursday 10th november. The event will be held at open gaming on behalf of WARPS society in University College Cork, Ireland. This is held Thursdays from 6.30pm to 10.30pm, and is held in the electrical engineering building room G1. If you, or anyone you know, is interested in trying out Malifaux, feel free to come along and check it out. Cheers Michael
  7. sounds like an ok plan, although there a few problems with it: lazarus cannot be hired by any crew that has hired guild models. So no watcher + laz unless ramos can summon it when he avatars. also, models cannot copy abilities from avatar models. This is listed in the general avatar rules at the start of twisting fates. It sucks, because Laz cant copy trash into treasures or hasty construction, but at least it stops the doppelganger being ridiculous.
  8. cheers for the feedback Buceph as I said, any time you are looking for demos or advice, give me a call and I'd be happy to help. that one on one demo will be much more in depth, and you'll get to see much more of the deeper interactions and damage dealing that each model can do
  9. Take him with ramos and either coryphee or mechanical rider. from Coryphee you can assimilate Mercurial, fast, subconscious actions. either + on defense and resist flips, fast, or up to 3 different (0) actions a turn. from the rider you can assimilate nimble, immune to influence, or just take its power cycle ability altogether.
  10. my apologies - I hadnt taken a close look at the requirements. You are right in respect to those 2, but the rest are definitely possible. :/
  11. I think Ramos and Seamus were the two avatars which gave the most improvement to their respective masters. Marcus, to a point, as well. For myself, since i saw twisting fates and how awesome Ramos was, I've not been able to think of anything but running him. he's awesome!
  12. Hi folks, I'd like to invite any and all to come and attend a special Halloween themed demo evening that is coming up on Thursday 3rd November, and will run from 6.30pm to 10.30 pm. As before, the demo evening will be run in association with WARPS gaming society at their open gaming evening in L1 in the electrical engineering building, University College Cork, Ireland. Feel free to come along, and bring your friends! Cheers Michael
  13. I understand that it seems a bit easy, but if you look through, most of the masters have one relatively difficult requirement and one easy one. first turn requirements that can be met: Sonia for instance can most definitely get one requirement in a single activation (Inferno twice). Nicodem - Arise. Marcus - Feral. Ramos - Summon EC/ Summon spider x2 Dreamer - Chompy / all done trigger Zoraida - Obey Som'er - take a swig thats 7 of the 20 masters that can get a first turn requirement. I'd say its intended.
  14. They dont, however, when Ramos avatar's he can summon any non unique arcanist or guild construct with a SS cost of 5 or less.
  15. Bigglesworth, you misunderstood what I meant. The way the manifest requirement is written, you can successfully complete it in 3 different ways: 1) cast summon electrical creation twice 2) cast summon spider twice 3) cast summon electrical creation once and summon spider once. the reason is that the wording is explicit as follows: "Ramos successfuly casts Electrical Creation and/or Construct Spider twice". If it was meant that you had to cast one of the two spells twice, then it would not have the "and" in there. with regards the LSPA - yup. Wierd confirmed it to be on a 50mm base back in august I believe. it went from being good to being the very best value scrap counters for soulstones in the books. @Lobo - I agree that the LSPA is boss. however, for the first two turns it simply isnt quite fast enough to be all that useful, since its not gonna be getting into combat. If you are planning on avataring anyway, you can effectively have it back turn 3 for pretty much peanuts with Ramos' Hasty Assembly ability, and it'll be able to be right in the thick of things from the get go. Speaking of Lazarus, however, do you have any suggestions for him?
  16. One thing I'd been toying with doing was the following: Take a large steampunk arachnid, Ramos, Lazarus and the toolkit. Turn 1, you use wobble the toolkit a bit, use up an activation. Next, the toolkit goes and lab equipment's Ramos, followed by controlled detonation on the LSPA. Next, Lazarus moves, picks up 2 of the 3 scrap counters that the LSPA drops, and assimilates Use Soulstone permanently. Finally, Ramos moves twice, Summons spider (from the third scrap counter) and summons EC. This means next turn you are most likely close enough to move once or twice and easily have reach to enemy models (deploy on the edge of the deployment zone, 6" moves, 12" range on electrical Fire). Turn 2, you use the toolkit to lab equipment Ramos and cast one of Ramos' spells, use Lazarus to assimilate controlled detonation which he then uses on the toolkit. Ramos goes, summons spider, and moves /casts electrical fire to get his second manifest requirement. start of turn 3 you should have both your manifest requirements, Lazarus the henchman with use SS, and 2 spiders running forward to cause trouble. And the best part is that its rather difficult for your opponent to stop this from happening.
  17. Bigglesworth, the wording of the manifest requirements is 2 castings of Summon Arachnid or Summon EC. Because it has and / or in there, it means that you can satisfy the manifext requirement in a single activation, first turn - salvage under fire, summon spider, casting expert to summon EC.
  18. Heya Conor man, welcome to the forums! :D

  19. with regards Hans and shooting - Hans has a few different abilities, and these make him far superior to a normal shooter with Hunter. He has Sniper, which means he ignores cover, obscuring terrain (so he can see right through terrain, and 6" or deeper woods do absolutely nada against him), and intervening models (so you cant hide a Ht1 model behind a Ht 2 model and expect it to be safe from him. You will still need to randomise in combat however). In addition to this, he has the Goggles ability. This means that he ignores any spell or talent which affects LoS. This means Creepy Fog etc do not affect him, as do any Pyre effects etc. This also means he does not need to focus, as the fog simply does not effect him. With regards obscuring terrain - if terrain is 3" deep and obscuring, you can see through it. It must be *more* than 3" to prevent being able to see through it. with regards impressionable: this only allows you to copy the masters Ca. The line about abilities means that you can copy Leveticus' Dual Focused. Unfortunately, surge and the others are talents, not abilities, so you cannot copy them :(. Im not sure about casting expert, however. With regards Pass through - you cannot use this to ignore the effect of the marker. Pass Through only allows you to move across the bases of other models, so long as you do not end your movement on their bases. finally, with regards the steampunk arachnid: their swarm together ability is rather confusing at times. To go over your questions however: Slow is an effect, but it goes away as soon as you activate. It would not transfer if you activate the summoned spider before you swarm together. The process of swarming together is quite convoluted, but this is how it goes: Spider activates. Receives 2AP and 1 (0) AP. Takes the (1) swarm together action, while in base contact with 2 other spiders. You summon a spider swarm into base contact with any of the 3 spiders. You apply any effects that are on the spiders to the swarm, as well as any wounds. Next, you remove the spiders from the game. Finally, you continue the activation using the swarm. It *only* has access to the remaining AP from the spider that used the swarm together action, as the other spiders have no AP as they only receive their AP when they activate. The Scatter action works differently, however. Swarm together is a Replace action, but Scatter is a Summon action. This means that when you Scatter, all three spiders that form receive slow, but they also can all activate. One neat trick: Spider swarm activates. Uses 2 Melee Master attacks, uses Disruption Field. Uses 1 general AP as it likes, and then takes the Scatter action. Each spider then receives the Disruption Field effect as well as Slow. They may all then activate, each receiving 1 AP and 1 (0) AP to use as they like.
  20. Couple of things I recently saw guys: you cannot copy spells or abilities from avatars. If you check the avatar rules that precede the guild avatars in twisting fates, its about halfway down the left hand side of the page. It sucks, because it prevents myranda copying instinctive behaviour, and lazarus copying anything from avatar ramos. on the plus side, it stops the doppelganger copying really nice abilities off avatars too.
  21. The reason it says Sonia and Kaeris can hire them is that otherwise they cant hire them at all. The reason for this is sonia is a different faction (and the gamin arent mercenaries. She can hire them for 5 SS), while kaeris can normally only hire M&SU assets and members. so yeah. Any arcanist master can hire the fire gamin, as can kaeris and sonia.
  22. it would already be affected by Does Not Die. models cannot benefit from multiple copies of the same ability unless specified in the abilities rules.
  23. doh. Im an idiot. forgot about Hate the Maker
  24. You can do it in a brawl with marcus - use a lawyer to give one of your constructs Hard to Wound 2, and then lazarus can steal it. with Levi, just take a flesh construct. also with levi, theres some snazzy things you can do - take some necropunks and steal hard to kill and slow to die from them. is there any way to get a model with slow to die in a ramos crew with him? only thing i can think of really is von schill nabbing the slow to die, but no way to get that onto a construct.
