  1. I've been putting this off for a while now, but I am now finally posting my finished Avatar Form Pandora. The first thing that I did when I bought this model was repose her: I bent all of the sorrows so that they would be whirling around her, holding the box up in front of Pandora, floating. Next, I painted her. All of the colors that I used were mixed from the primaries, black, and white. Then I made her base. I started by gluing down some collected flakes of paint peeled from my local game store's priming tray. The tray accumulated beads of paint from aerosol primers that had formed into such a wonderful, bubbly shape. On top of those flake I glued some cut portions of discarded mat board. I coated the board in superglue which it soaked up and used to become rigidly solid. I finished up by painting the base and spending some time finding a place to glue Pandora to that would support her without it looking unnatural. This was all sealed in a hard coat followed by a matte spray. Here are the pics!:
  2. This is pretty incredible; awesome work! I do enjoy. Congratulations on your first place.
  3. I doubt that the U.S. Mint would care all too much. Considering that the mint is a company comissioned by the government, they would likely profit the most from the defacing of the nation's money. The government itself, however, would be that which would get miffed; it is the government that is paying for the manufacture of the tangible supply of money.
  4. I love polymer! ^o^ This plastic clay is incredibly easy to use. It keeps it's form so nicely and it, the finished sculpt, is ready to be handled the minute it comes out of the oven. It is flexible which makes it durable, and light weight. Acrylic holds nicely to its surface as well.
  5. The poeple that I know that play around here glue pennies or washers to the underside of their bases.
  6. I look forward to seeing these conversions. Pictures, please, upon completion! ^o^
  7. I am; yes. I just picture her differently in my mind, but that difference is so subtle that I do not know that I can really consciously identify what that nuance is. I think that it may be the face, though. It is malicious and seemingly more understanting of the world than I expect Candy to be.
  8. Hm... The way I had pictured Candy, she was just a little younger than how you depict her. Granted that she is still quite young in your picture, there is something about it that feels more mature than I see it in my mind. (Perhaps I imagine a more deceptively innocent visage?) Maybe I'll have to draw something up sometime and post it. I offer compliments to you; Candy is my favorite of Wyrd's characters and seeing another fan on the forums is something that I can appreciate.
  9. Those Mali cards that you've posted in your signature are awesome! Thanks for making these available. They are quite useful. ^_^

  10. So KirigakurenoHaku, (霧隠れの白), is a character from Naruto. This character was introduced to the series very early on (in the second manga) while it still had potential to grow. The series, however, really only degraded, involving primarily slapstick humor and innuendo. The character is still one that I am very fond of, though, becoming my favorite amoungst all others that I have seen in anime, exhibiting unrelenting commitment and devotion to those dear to him. I adopted his name as my online alias as a result. He had also exsisted comfortably in his adrogynous form. (Haku is, indeed, a boy.) It is a personal ambition of mine to distort the perception of gender roles in our society. I do not feel that people need to act purely masculine or entirely feminine per what society dictates. I take part in that which I like and evade those that I do not by my own choice and encourage others to do the same. And as an added perk, I have taken a fondness for the name of Haku, using as a pseudonym wherever I feel that one is necessary. On Gaia Online, I am Haku of Kirigakure. On DeviantArt and Project Playlist, as well as here, I am KirigakurenoHaku. Cosplay.com knows me as ~Haku~ (seeing as the character count for names is one character too short for the entire alias). On every RPG game that I play, I enter as Haku.
  11. Wow! What a huge difference! You've just turned something average in appearance into something truly worth being proud of! I commend you for your work; very nice! ^o^
  12. I am certainly enjoying the Malifaux tournament scene as it is now. It is such a small game that everybody you see playing are people that you're going to be seeing again and again. It's all very close-knit and fun, win or lose.
  13. Niko has already gotten it all painted. Here's the post.
  14. Don't you worry: Pandora and the kids shall be represented.
  15. Oh, awesome! You Carver looks so~ much better with paint on him! I must offer you some props; this is not too bad at all! Very nice!
  16. I don't know how I feel about the colors you've chosen for Lilith, but I can cetainly commend all of the work that you've done on the Nephilim. They look fantastic! Very nice!
  17. Wow! Sybelle looks so vile in yellow! The only other color I've seen her in that makes her even more horrifying is pink, and that is just hard to look at! (So gross!) I enjoy Seamus and the Copycat Killer's color scheme. The blue-violets and blues suit him so very well. Nice work all around!
  18. He looks a little too bulky in the abdominal region... Does your Carver have a fondness for a beer with his kids? That aside, I do offer you kudos. This is an intimidatng sculpt to tackle and you did pretty well! To replicate the concept art, I'd offer this critique: The head of your Carver looks to be set too high. The concept shows the head a little lower, giving it a more imposing stance as though he needs to look down upon you just to see you. The arm holding the knife is not poised in a position in which he could strike with it very well at all. The looks to be extended almost completely which is not good for swinging. The other arm is looks too casual, I think. The concept art portrays that arm still tightly bound, perpendicular to the body, to the cross to which the Carver was fixed to as a scarecrow. And finally, the rope around his waist is just too thick. Now please, don't hate me. As I said, this tackles the idea of the Carver well. The broad shoulders and brick-like body, along with that creep smile are all stong positives to this piece! And I do so enjoy the hay. I am anxious to see this get painted.
  19. That 'cactus thing' is actually a tree quite common around here, the palo verde. Thank you very much, Dæmonkin.
  20. Yeah.... There are probably some easier ways to go about crushing stone than with the pliers of a multi-tool knife.
  21. So, I've recently begun playing the Ortegas, and I am enjoying the way that they operate. I've had them painted up for a while, but I'm lazy and procrastinate, so it is only now that I am posting pictures. Now I just need to decide what color to paint Perdita's lips... I live in Arizona, a desert, so basing these guys was pretty simple. I used polymer clay to make most of the things that I see pretty frequently: a palo verde for Perdita, a little barrel cactus for Santiago, and a ram's skull for Niño (a fitting item in lieu of a cow's skull, I think). There's a tumble weed on Francisco's base made from thread and wire, and polymer dynamite on Papa's. The dirt one the bases is made from crushed rocks that I got from in front of my house. if anyone wants to know about the colors that I use, I mix all of them from the primaries, white, and black. Please, comment and critique. A couple of quick disclaimers first, though, after seeing the enlarged photographs, flaws are so much more apparent. About Santiago, his skin dried much darker than I had expected. And about the glossiness, all of my models are sealed in a clear coat
  22. I highly doubt that they would berid us of little Candy; I do enjoy her so. I see it far more likely that the 'Unique' restriction will play a role here. I am quite quite contented by the idea of henchman releases, and I am also curious of what these special forces are to be.
  23. I think Candy will end up wearing the same thing, just with a less child-like body. I forsee her continuing her vendetta against bad daddies via seduction. She would appeal to the most vile of men with a Lolita complex. And as for a next-book prediction: the avatars of each faction will come to be along with a strong supporting cast of Henchmen, all following the story, of course.
