  1. Take your tape measure and turn it side-ways. Then draw a line using it from your base to his base. As long as there is nothing in the way and you can successfully touch his base at some point then you can see him. That's what we do at my group and it works wonders for Line-of-sight problems.
  2. Mindless Zombies...he summons a lot of those
  3. McMourning. With one spell Lady J can kill all your Mindless Zombies within a good range. At least, if lucky, you can pull off a scalpel sling, Rancid Transplant, and get lucky with a couple of swings. Other then that Keep her at range and don't let her charge. She already cancels out Hard to Wound 1 and with a Cb of 7 she will hurt you on charges and still get to swing again. Her Death Marshals are better at shooting, but don't let them kill you with a CC attack, cause you won't get a counter off it. All in all Lady J is gonna be your hardest fight, but she is beatable, just be careful how you confront her.
  4. yea but its fun. I mean at 30 SS I run 3 Ronin, misaki and a SoC and have 5 SS left over...now thats mean >.<
  5. I agree with you on not wanting the starter box for the Viktoria's it doesn't seem as though it was very well planned out (plus it doesn't come with what they need, Ronin!) I agree with Mel, take either Misaki, or a Convict Gunslinger. Also it might not hurt to take a look at Taelor to see what she brings to the board
  6. if Taelor doesn't work out to well I've had some crazy success with Misaki ^^. That will give you a third SS and still stick in the All Girls Catagory
  7. If your looking at what other Sonnia players play at certain lists this is my 30ss Sonnia Student Francisco Samael 2x Witchling Stalkers that leaves me with 8 SS in my pool and its a decent blend of CC and Shooting with some speed attached to it. In a thirty-five pointer I would probably drop Francisco, Take Nino and a Witchling Stalker while still keeping my max SS pool. I personally can't say how important it is to have 8 SS. Especially if your trying to go for that Cheat-able Flame Burst Damge, or Trying to get that big Cast for Violation of Magic. Let alone using Confiscated Lore almost every turn when you get within range, and that's when the Student shines the most. Giving her Fast and watching 4 spells go off in one turn is a beautiful thing to see (even watching 3 after moving is awesome too.) People hate it when I play Sonnia, but if you play her right people will XD
  8. Plus it would be perfectly interchangeable with the Minis Game. And we all know we want more people getting into the Minis game XD

  10. I think new masters will help everyone out (I wanna find a better match to Sonnia then just Lady J or Perdita >.<)
  11. I have someone at my gaming group that plays a nasty Justice list but has been contemplating switching Justice with Perdita, at 30 SS he brings: Master (which at your point would be Perdita) Totem (Enslaved Niphilim) Francisco Nino Santiago Austinger granted he plays with 2 and now I get to call him a cheater for contently going over by 1 SS. The Austinger gives you the option of activating everyone in one turn, which is useful from range. Also if your looking for a decent starting out Sonnia list I put one together that has been working quite nicely. granted it only works at the 25-30 SS level but you should be able to handle that :-)
  12. Looks awesome dude :-)
  13. I've only used Violation of Magic Successfully on McMourning, and it was the hit that killed him (because at that point he couldn't cheat and not use SS). My friends currently hate my Sonnia crew, primarily because they lack the ability to generally cast on me, and I have scared people into NOT casting at me cause I will just counter it. She definitely is a controlling character when it comes to the types of Masters out there. Also Samael is a total beat stick, and well since he comes with the box he is included in my general jack-a$$ery that goes on. Outta all the guild masters it seems we've fallen in love with the obscure one (I mean, she casts magic in a primarily "physical" attacking faction). I really hope the new guild person is a load of fun, or else I might have to resort to brawling with Lady J or Perdita. By the way, what other master do you think complements her overall "style" of play? I wanna try Lady J mainly because she is crazy in close and can probably contribute the most to her overall crew.
  14. You dastardly fiend :bounce: Considering ever since its started at our store, we've gotten 8 people playing the game and we still need to teach 4 more to play XD and that's just the beginning! We've caught the eye of at least 4 other people XD
  15. In terms of how I've been using her lately she has been one big toolbox, and I've been forgetting about Inferno as a tactic, I've only played three games with my crew set up (Sonnia, Samael, Fransico, 2x Witchlings, and a Student for my 30SS list). Depending on who I am fighting I've had to change up my tactics accordingly. But as I tell everyone when they see my starting SS pool being at 8 (and yes I build around keeping 8 SS) that she eats SS like they are candy (in a 6 turn game I generally use all 8 for various things). The over all problem I can see people having with playing against Sonnia is that her overall style of play changes from person to person, Whether or not you sit back and blast them with Flame Burst and casting Flame Wall for Def, or wade in against some people for an easy kill and Hand control (my last game I could do whatever I wanted cause I emptied his hand on my first activation of Sonnia). Then again I've proven that I'm not the "average" Mali player and that I do a lot more different things (Like using my guys as reaction/defensive fighters). I haven't had much of a problem playing sonnia, in comparison to when I was playing Ramos, and people hated me for playing him too. Thanks for the advice. I've really gotten the hang of her and people have been hating me for it XD. Now onto who I can team her up with to make people hate me even more XD.
  16. This has generally been a nice change of pace from my normal minis experience, granted I've been only into it for what would be going on a year now, I've played play 40k otherwise. And the change of pace is going from playing Orks (who's only decision is who do I krump first) to playing Ramos and Sonnia (and who can lay the most hurt down on me). Its defiantly been a breather on my wallet, mainly because I've become so effective at what I wanna play that I only need to buy so much. Plus I figure this will be a good game to get my g/f into, I'm just waiting on her Lady J box to come in and then the fun begins
  17. If your closer to the Ohio border we have a group that plays in Toledo too ^^ granted it would be kinda a drive for ya but its a lot of fun when we play.
  18. yea I'm gonna see if I can't make a Photo box with some of the stuff I have around the apt and also hope for clearer weather (yay for a city that is mostly overcast.) I'm gonna be starting the rest of her crew soon (probably this week depending on how busy I get) so I'll hopefully be able to get you guys some good pics ^^

    Raid!

I actually prefer using Raid when I can. Mainly because if you have to kill off there crew (slaughter-assassinate) your gonna get the VP anyways unless you lose. I agree about being hard hitters, and we will generally have the guys to back up our numbers overall (having 7 or so guys in a high SS game is generally a good thing when choosing Raid) It just generally will mean that when you hit someone you are going for the kill as opposed to just wounding them. To me thus far its been an easy 2 VP.
  20. Hey Guys. I actually started painting my minis (which is very fun and different then painting space wolves all day) Alas I haven't done much, but with exams being over next week I'll be free to do whatever I choose to. Unfortunately I only have one done for viewing pleasure, but she's gotten positive feedback from everyone here that I know. So here is my latest mini, Sonnia Criid Granted my camera enjoys picking up stuff, so the stuff on her coat is actually barely visible when looking at her IRL.
  21. The thing I've learned with the student of conflict is that its a very finesse based totem to use. Yes its not gonna sit there and cast like Purifying Flame, but when you do use it, it can be fun to see Sonnia cast 4 times, or move into range and cast, etc. It keeps up with her until it goes off, I understand its a slow thing but from what I've used it for it clicks so well with her having casting expert, and then giving her fast for that extra action she might need at the given time. If it just wasn't for her obsessive need for SS it wouldn't have a problem getting her people. Its not like Lady J or Perdita where you can live with having your Cache + whatever awkward points left over in SS. You actually need to plan your list around having lots of them on hand for whatever trouble you get into >.< (from what I've seen and played personally) I actually play tested the Student today and I would have to say in the situation my crew was put in it worked out great. Sonnia was able to move twice and fire off 2 Flame Bursts, then when we all met in the middle (I was playing a hilarious McMourning List by my favorite Rival in our group) and it caught up again it really made the difference to be able to Swing 3 times to clear/heal and then cast Violation against McMourning (which worked remarkably well at the end cause I actually killed him with it)
  22. So far this has been working out quite well. Sonnia Criid Francisco Ortega Samael Hopkins 2x Witchling Stalkers 4 extra SS + Sonnia's Pool = 8 SS total The overall strategy is to use Francisco's speed to intercept anyone who can get to certain objectives. Using Samael as back-up from long range. The Stalkers generally are my objective grabbers (toward the end of the game) and Sonnia just does her thing when she gets in range. For some odd reason she really enjoys blowing things up. Which I don't mind cause I haven't lost yet with her *knocks on wood* So any critique? comments? I'm also thinking of ways to bring this to 30ss...all i've been able to think of is adding a Student of Conflict and staying with 8ss (darn SS cap at 8) General schemes: Hold out, Body Guard, and Raid
  23. He looks good :-) The only problem I have is that he looks a bit cartoonish. Maybe add a wash or too to make him look a little bit more realistic? Other then that keep up the good work
  24. If your looking at playing the family I wouldn't suggest using all of them...only a couple of them are really that awesome. Something I would consider is bring Austringers, They can generally activate your entire side or pick and choose who you want to activate along with them (I don't use Austringers yet but I've heard good things.) If your looking for some long range damage, Samael can bring some high damage at a decent range (Flaming Bullets gives you min of 5 damage at 10 inches) And with Arcane Hunter if your fighting anything with a legit cast, it hurts even more. He also has hunter and scout so he can be immune to that Rubble if it pops up. I only say this cause I got a chance to use him today and he single-handedly took care of most a Rasputina crew (I got lucky and had to cheat FB once). Executioner seems good, and Fransico and Nino seem to be the best 2 Ortega's, Judge is good, but he needs to be up close to do any real damage and Blades/Bullets (Bullets/Blades) is ok but with the cast + the CB it takes a lot to do anything. Your best getting in and Flurrying. Thats about it for my advice >.<
