  1. I just played my first game with Ramos today (after starting with Tina and expanding) and I did quite well. In fact, I won! I used Joss, but I have to say, the star of my game was Rusty Alyce. She dropped Samael AND Sonnia and lived to tell about it. Rapid Fire and Headshot are deadly, especially if you get lucky and have the Red Joker in your hand (as I did, ended up dropping Sonnia in one attack!) Anyway, that was just pure luck, but I am satisfied that Alyce is a good investment for a Ramos crew.

Expanding my Arcanist collection. This didn't really fit in my Cult of December thread, so he and his cronies get their own. Here's Ramos! (Sorry the lighting isn't great, it's evening.)
  3. One addition to my crew I think turned out rather nicely. Basing still to be done.
  4. Thanks for all the great tips guys. I located the foam at home depot... just waiting for my paycheck to clear and I'm gonna start picking up supplies. That drywall paint.. is it basically white, or does it come in colors?
  5. I am definitely planning on drawing out some plans before I start. I think that's a very good idea! And I will probably leave some of the terrain modular. I'm really in love with the idea of sculpting a river or bog and filling it with water effects, though, so that will be permanent, but the buildings and perhaps some of the areas of forest I will likely leave loose so they can be re-arranged to give different battlefields. At least, that's the plan!
  6. Thanks for all the replies guys. Really helping me get my head around what I need to get started. Will probably start gathering materials this weekend!
  7. Wow, thanks for the tips! Back to the foam though: is there a certain type or brand that I should look for? Also, is it terribly toxic to work with? Should I wear a mask or somesuch while cutting/shaping it?
  8. Forgive my newbishness when it comes to this stuff, but you can't spray styrofoam? Why not, does it dissolve? I had no idea! Good thing you mentioned that. >.> So this foam is insulation foam? I was looking at the stuff made my Woodland Scenics especially for sculpting scenery out of. Is it just any old insulation foam, or is a certain type the type I should look for?
  9. Hey guys, Gonna be starting up a new project making a Malifaux playing board! This'll be my first time making a real, nice board, and I'm pretty excited. It was pretty serendipitous.. I was talking to my friend about wanting to start one, and that very day my boss was like, "Well, guess I'll throw out this giant piece of sturdy, well-maintained plywood" and I was like "NO WAIT I'LL TAKE IT" so a quick buzzsaw later and I have a nice, flat, clean, 3x3 piece of plywood. A good start! But this being my first venture into board-making, I did have a few questions for people who have more experience. First of all, I really like the idea I have seen several times before on these forums of using that pink styrofoam and then cutting shapes into it for water, gluing it on top of the wood and filling in the holes with water effects. Where does one get sheets of that sort of styrofoam? Might I be able to find it at a model train store? I see they sell it on ebay, however I have serious doubts about having 1" thick, 1x2 sheets of styrofoam shipped to me without them breaking. I'm thinking of doing a scene that could be used for multiple 'settings' in the book... maybe a little swampy off to one side, fading to more rocky with some ruined buildings on the other. Anyone have any suggestions for places to get good swampy trees, or anything like that? Any other general advice would be appreciated as well! Thanks in advance!!

  11. Yeah, I realize that it wasn't the smartest move, but by that point int he game I was already hurting and I was trying to score some points by grabbing the treasure token and getting out of there. I knew it was a gamble, but if I had won init and not him that turn I would have grabbed it and gotten out of there successfully... but luck was not on my side and he got to go first. Also, I'm a bit of a new player, so I was not totally aware of how deadly Samael was. I knew he'd get a shot off: I didn't expect him to kill the Cerberus in one activation. >_< However, I did lock that terrain piece down with Freeze Over for a large portion of the game. Next time, more aware of my opponent's abilities, I will tread more carefully.
  12. Well, I only got to play the Sonnia player this weekend, as we ran out of time, but as predicted, he beat the heck out of me. ;_; Really it wasn't even Sonnia herself who gave me the trouble, it was Samael Hopkins. I had Treasure Hunt, and I ran my Cerberus up to grab the token, and he killed it in one activation with Samael and his stupid flaming bullets/rapid fire combo. I actually held out pretty well after that with the rest of my guys, but in the end he just closed in around me with four Witchlings and had Samael and Sonnia shoot from afar. Next time I will try some different approaches.
  13. Hey guys, thanks for the advice. I have an Essence of Power and two Hoarcat Prides on order at the FLGS, but when I get paid again I am definitely going to pick up the Ramos box. That Steamborg Executioner sounds too good to be without, and I want Ramos as my secondary Master anyway (won't help me much against Sonnia, though!) I will try out your suggestions when we play on Sunday... try to beat down Sonnia herself as quickly as possible. I will let you all know how it turns out.
  14. Hi guys! I am going for my second game as Rasputina this weekend. Going to be playing my two friends (one at a time). They will be playing as Sonia Criid and her crew, and the Viktorias. I have the Tina starter set + a Cerberus, but we are allowing proxies so I do have the option of adding in some other units. However, I think we're just going to be playing 25ss, mostly starter box battles (as those are the models we have). Can any of you guys give me some advice on tactics vs. these guys in particular? I don't have a lot of experience playing the game yet, so I'm wondering if any of you more experienced Tina players might give me some idea of what to look out for, in general or vs. those masters in particular. As I said, gonna be 25ss games. I have the Tina box and the Cerberus, which I'd like to use if able but I'm not against a proxy or two if it will make a big difference. Any advice would be welcome! Thanks!
  15. I also am interested in responses to this. I (and my pals) are new to the game. We're trying to build interest in the local area to get a decent group together. So far there's three of us, and I chose my Master first: I chose Tina, mostly because I really like her model, but I have the model so now I'm dedicated. I enjoy her style of play, so I don't think I made a bad choice, but... My two friends chose Perdita and Sonnia Criid. We played for the first time yesterday and they both crushed me. Unless I can figure out some good anti-guild tactics for Tina, I'm going to be in for repetitive beatings. >_<
