  1. i live in stanley (co. durham). me and my bro both play. we can both drive as well as own cars, so travelling in the local area isnt such a problem. i cant speak for my bro but i wouldnt mind meeting other people who are into miniatures gaming and getting a few games in. I do work awkward shifts at work, but if anyone fancies a game some time just send me a pm.
  2. only problem is now my doppleganger cant steal run through! i used it to let him run away fast
  3. just have to say i used the doppleganger again today, and was much more useful. i kept it back a bit, stone some self loathing and hurt a few enemies, and i got charged and hurt so stole a ronins push through and ran away through some woods, only to come back and steal the gunslingers guns and rapid fire trigger and blast him to death
  4. it would be a good setting, as for stats and abilities, i think it would be difficult to do with cards. in my opinion, the best rpg system by far is the d100 percentile system. you have a % score for every stat and ability, and have to roll under it on a d100 to succeed. if you succeed you then check a box next to that ability. at the end of a session you roll over your percentage, it goes up by 1 point. It means any character can improve in any skill or ability. Although i see malifaux as a setting where levelling up is less important. i see characters being pretty stable, but the challenge is figuring out how to beat the different enemies and puzzles, not in being a high enough level to get a combat bonus etc. something that might be worth looking at is marvul universe rpg, which uses stones instead of dice.
  5. the problem is with pandora's crew you already have so many models that have to go first. sorrows have to go first to link before whatever it links to moves. pandora has to go first to terrorise enemy models before kade and teddy hit them. and now the doppleganger has to go first to keep itself alive. just as a thought, could a doppleganger steal a ressurectionists ability to create undead from corpse counters, and bring friendly undead on the dopplegangers side? or would that suffer the same problem as the viktoria idea? im starting to think doppleganger my be best holding back until combat is joined, then just stealing a nasty combat attack (like teddies bite) and melee expert, and jumping in there and causing havoc.
  6. now that the doppleganger is out, i was wondering how useful everyone was finding it? I used it for the first time yesterday, and it got completely ganked by a viktoria move and double move companion charge thingy, which was a sacrifice of the swords vik but i think my opponent didnt want the negative initiative flips. now the problem being dopplegangers abilities only last till the end close phase, so if i do take a high df stat from someone, my opponent will just ignore it till next turn, knowing that because i took df i didnt take a nasty combat ability. so maybes the doppleanger is supposed to be used more sneakily? how about stealing vik's entwined ability, where anything that effects them affects all viks, and then casting self loathing on the doppleganger. if the doppleganger steals teddies hard to wound 2, it shouldnt punch itself to death, but it should damage both viks quite a bit. Also stealing terrifying off teddy, hopefully after pandora has made everyone get negative wp flips, would be good to get the enemy crew running away. Im just trying to justify the high cost of the doppleganger, as i think i am missing something vital in its use.
  7. Pandora isnt too fast in my opinion. for incite/pacify to work there has to be targets, usually sorrows, and sometimes enemies. they have to all succeed, and in succeeding against your friendlies you are messing up your activation order so your opponent can know where/when to strike, which i think is a reasonable cost for the speed. And she will still get outrun by fast models if she has unlucky draws. I think she is a pretty tough cookie to crack. Ive played 3 games with her, havent lost so far, but havent won either. My biggest problem is making a crew for her that will accomplish my scenario goals. Treasure hunting, holding ground, recon, sorrows are useless at them all, and the other guys cost too much. My opponents would probably tell you pandoras toughness is equalled out by her so easy to kill crew. They also lack a lot, in that most of the spells who whole crew puts out have effects that last until the end closing phase, rather than until the end of the models next activation. It makes a lot of them pointless if that model has already moved this turn, and this go's to the whole crew. The other thing to remember is that self loathing isnt that good of a damaging spell. always has a negative flip, and it depends on your targets own melee weapons. Then again maybe im playing her wrong, maybes i should just be aiming to make my opponent lose a lot of morale duels instead of trying to kill them.
  8. they seriously wrote off that car with just body damage? if they are planning on scrapping it tell them to leave it outside my house lol. and heres me not even thinking it snowed in australia lol
  9. I had spent the night fighting all sorts of random crime, shoplifters stealing fresh mandarins to graffiti artists painting the dynamite factory crimson, and my antics had got in the newspaper. Unfortunatly it said 'who is this iron man' which was odd because obviously my suit of futuristic armour is made out of titanium, gold and carbon fiber, but like all things that get the front page of the sun the name stuck, so i am iron man. i have a few forum names, ironman is one i use more recently, before that it was torn (which looks like tom) and before that is too far into the past to matter.
  10. that being said, will the american postal service post something with the queens head on it? It would be easier, for someone in the uk like me, to have somebody set up over here to do it. Of course you can always use tip ex and just write on the cards.
  11. i went for a blackberry because it wasnt touch screen. i had a sony erricson one before that, but the touchscreens just knack up, especially when im at work. i love the querty keyboard on the blackberry, its not my first on a phone but its the best ive used, and the web browsing is pretty easy. wyrd forums work well on it. i know a few people who have i-phones, and some things are better, like the camera and games and stuff, but for an actual communication device (phone, txt, e-mail, live messengers etc) i think the blackberry wins.
  12. if it says Ht5 (height five) surely it would block line of sight to anything that was height 1,2,3 and 4, and even 5 i think.
  13. there is a link to it on the forum somewhere, but this is a direct link to the version with no background picture (i used for printing) http://tabletopgeeks.com/wp-content/downloads/malifaux/reference/Malifaux%20Reference%20v1.2-nobg.pdf hope this helps
  14. thanks for the opinions i didnt like the sound of santiago that much when i read his rules, so i could be tempted to drop him for samael. From what ive read of the executioner ive heard he is just too easy to take out at range before he gets close, and im not really a fan of the model. I did think about an austringer, but for the SS cost they seem pretty weak. yeah getting in an activation when you need it can be a game winner, but so caqn having a hard hitter there instead. peacekeeper . . thats one of those things for the future. playing with teddy i know what happens to big expensive things like that. they get targeted first.
