  1. Ressers had the highest average differential, TPs, and VPs per player in the Avatar Qualifiers, yet did not crack the top 4 in either one. They came close (5th in one and 5th and 6th in the other), but couldn't make the cutoff line. Outcasts and Archanists are the only factions that beat the baseline of advancing players (8 of 38, or 21% of players advancing). Outcasts hit 36%, Archanists hit 40%, and Neverborn hit 18%. No Ten Thunders represented. Only one Gremlin and two Guild. Eight Ressers, and 11 each of NB and Outcasts. Seven players played in both tournaments, and all but one used the same faction both times.

    September Releases

Brewmaster probably took them out drinking.
  3. Jack Daw thematically works for me with other Outcast models. He's essentially a force of nature that shows up at different battles. When I take him with things outside of his theme, I imagine it's a conflict of other the other Outcasts that Jack Daw has shown up at and is influencing. He's not directly leading the Outcasts that are there, but for whatever reason it is that Jack Daw shows up anywhere, he showed up here, and his goals (whatever they are) align with the other Outcasts who have shown up. I have a harder time justifying Leve's Abominations and Hamelin's Rats showing up with other Outcasts than I do Jack Daw.
  4. Tried using them a little - I had the same trouble with the suits. Couldn't see them the way I held the cards. The Dark decks didn't have enough contrast to make the colors easy to see. The Light deck I could figure out the suit somewhat quickly by looking at the color most times, but not having the suit located near the number made it tough to work with. I'll be switching back to a different deck before too long, I think, which is a shame because I love the way these decks look.

    Zoraida Cards

Are the upgrade cards from the Wave 1 box correct as well? There are a couple that have different soulstone costs in the Zoraida box even though they are duel-bugged.
  6. Glad it no longer does what it did before - it was a bit too good there. But where it sits now, I don't think it's worth the soulstone to get the ability. With Neverborn I rarely spend soulstones for anything outside of more cards, initiative, or prevention flips. Since none of those trigger Nexus, it's going to sit unused in my collection. Mileage may very for others - if you're using stones for suits more often, it'll still be useful.
  7. We tend to play most at 45 locally, but I like 40 stone games. It's a funny balance - locally we teach beginners at lower stone values (around 40), then as people get a little better, we raise up to 45-50, and then when people get good, we're lowing back to 40-45. When learning how to play the game, I think 40 stones limits you from making too many choices. Once you're good, playing 40 stones forces you to be economical and tight with your choices. You can't simply take an extra model because you have the stones, or add another upgrade because you'll lose a couple stones otherwise. You have to make sure everything in your list pulls its weight. I always advocated 30SS games in v1 - they were much harder than 35SS games. I think 40 is the same way in v2. Far less forgiving.
  8. Dopplegangers cannot copy abilities from Leaders, so no getting another Obey from her this edition. That said... Malicte is quite right. Using Zoraida to Obey the Doppleganger into place and to Interact is very strong. So I'd still recommend getting one.
  9. Just making you play it straight, Mr. Lucidicide.
  10. That said, there are models like Bette and Bad Juju who have similar interactions to what Levi might end up having, and their abilities say remove conditions before they say healing, so I would assume they remove the "no healing" clause from the Hanged, then are healed. Whether Levi ends up with similar wording is anyone's guess.
  11. There was something else I noticed too while I was playing today... I just wish I could remember what it was. Might have been the Hem Ca value - I can't remember if it used to be 7 before or not. Whatever it used to be, Voodoo Dolls Hem on a 7 now.
  12. Here are the NB changes, just FYI (not including Jakob): Lilith Soulstone Cache 4 Greatsword Ml 7 Wicked Vines Ca 6M Primordial Magic Essence of Malifaux now lets it count as a scheme marker once per game rather than just at the end of the game. If counting as the scheme marker would cause it to be discarded, sacrifice the Essence of Malifaux. Poltergeist Cost 5 Defense 5 Wounds 5 Paranormal Activity counter causes WP 15 duels now. Cherub Cupid’s Arrow gained an auto-trigger that pushes the model 5” after damaging it. Doppleganger Blend In does not require a discard Mimic has a trigger with a Tome that lets the Doppleganger immediately take the action it copied for free. Mature Nephilim Gained Flurry Young Nephilim Wounds 7 Scent of Blood renamed Thirst for Blood and grants Fast when a non-Construct is killed rather than just a Living model. Waldgeist Germinante forests are no longer Dense Silurid Attacks created by the Blood Frenzy trigger can now declare additional triggers. Fears Given Form Rare 2 Tyrant Echoes Renamed to Stone of Tyrant Echoes Living Blade Cost 2 Summon the Blood Enemy models take 2 damage rather than 1/3/4. Obsidian Talons Cost 1 Voices There Is No Shelter Here only impacts enemy models now Tarot Reading Allows Zoraida to hire Swampfiend models regardless of faction Rapid Growth Grow and Mature do not require LOS to work – have to be within 12” Feed the Brood lets you pass kills 2” instead of 1”
  13. Aw... that's too bad. The only upgrade I ever used of hers was the (+) on damage one. I'll have to review the others now - might be saving a lot of soulstones on her upgrades now when I play her.
  14. Thanks! I'll second the question about Lady Justice - any changes for her or her upgrades?
  15. One last update before my source cursed me and said he had to do some gaming or something while he was at GenCon too (which, I believe, is unreasonable of him, but I'm not about to tell him that or I think he'd cut me off). Johan's price dropped to 6 soulstones.
  16. If you click on the arsenal box in the store, it'll show you the contents. She's in the Outcast box. http://wyrd-games.net/shop/Arsenal-Box-Outcasts-Wave-1.html ---------- Post added at 09:23 PM ---------- Previous post was at 09:23 PM ---------- Ninja-ed!
  17. Obsidian Talons upgrade is 1ss now instead of 2 and sounds like it does the same thing. Rapid Growth has a couple of small changes. First, you don't need LOS to the model with Rapid Growth on it to Grow or Mature - just gotta be within 12" of it. Second, the Feed the Brood part now works on models within 2" instead of within 1", so there's a little more room to kick growing around from the model with Rapid Growth. ---------- Post added at 08:32 PM ---------- Previous post was at 08:30 PM ---------- A quote from my buddy: "Misdirection still broke and unchanged." Decaying Aura is now Rare 1 and a 4" aura instead of a 6" aura.
  18. I asked one of my buddies for a couple of things about Lilith (since that's one of my favorites): 1. Lilith is Ml7 naturally 2. The upgrade that increased her Ml and reach reduced to cost 2 3. Waldgeist forests do NOT have Dense 4. Black Blood Pustule does a flat 2 damage to enemy models rather than 1/3/4
  19. Personally, the only upgrade I find he is always taking for me is Woke Up with a Hand. Whenever I take Rising Sun, it doesn't do much for me. I never end up having to resummon the Hungering Darkness. Granted a lot of this could be that the upgrade forces my opponent to reprioritize their attacks and not go as strong after HD, so in that alone, it could be worth 2 stones. Getting Squeel is nice, though, and gives you a get-out-of-jail-free card if you need it. I just don't end up with Jakob involved in melee when I don't want him much in the first place, so it's two conditional abilities that don't see a ton of use for me. Addict is good, but I find there are usually better faction-generic upgrades I'd rather take over it. Brilliance is a great mechanic, but it's not as easy to get where I want when I want it. I'd rather have upgrades that are going to help me more often than have ones that require a measure of set-up to gain a bonus from. Wanna See a Trick is pretty bad. Requires more set-up than Addict, and I already think that upgrade isn't strong enough. Expert Cheater feels like a trap upgrade to me. I've used it before, but it's only useful in one or two flips a game. Here's the list of things that have to go your way. First, you have to lose the duel so you can cheat first. Then you have to be able to cheat a card that you want to get rid of - either a high card or a low card, depending on how you want to be bluffing. Then your opponent has to guess incorrectly based on how you cheated. Oh, and all this has to be on an "important" duel, otherwise your opponent's just going to pretty much ignore it. I've never found it worth the upgrade slot. Fluffy and fun? Sure. Useful? Not so much.
  20. Yup - these things are... well... nothing. They're not alive, but they're not undead. They're not constructs. They're... nothing. Kinda cool, thematically.
  21. He's a pretty popular choice, and you're seeing why. His only real disadvantages are his speed and his defense, but with the amount of healing he can pack in, his low defense isn't that much an issue, and with Zoraida Obeying him for extra moves, his speed can be mitigated. I'm not sold on his respawning upgrade yet - it might be that my opponents are more careful because I take the upgrade, but I find that I almost never get to respawn him in my games when (if?) he dies. All in all, though, I'm glad my Bad Juju model gets to see play now. I always loved the miniature. Now he's got some rules to back him up.
  22. I won't be picking up the mantle with events in NoVA, but Skill-less Brian has just been made a Henchman in the area and will be working that front.
  23. You win this round, edonil. But next time you will not be so lucky...
