  1. I laminated objective cards to the back of Wyrd's postcards. Also sprayed black paint over Magic the Gathering Cards to make them indistinguishable, stuck Strategies on and laminated the lot. Looks pretty nifty, makes demo'ing the game a lot easier as there is pretty much nothing that isn't on a card, reference card, etc. for new players to absorb. Will post up piccies when I photograph my crew.
  2. The printing costs would be prohibitive until they ran out of stock so I doubt we will see corrected cards soon. Initial set up costs tend to be the major factor in printing...if it did happen I'd guess it would be in line with the second book and its cards. Having said that we've played perfectly fine with the cards/rules as printed...the errata is really just gravy for those of us with a strong interest. This is so much better than the alternatives: - GW leaving codexes broken to force you on to a new army - GW FAQ's written by someone who misquote their own codex - Warmachine tourneys where the top three armies are lead by Sorsha and a page 5 stating that their balance is infallable. There are pro's and con's to everything but I can't help but applaud Wyrd for doing what is best for player's enjoyment of the game.
  3. Yeah, seriously, don't stress about Ramos. He was my first Master and I picked him up fine and played very competitively with him. His basic crew is fantastic if you add the Brass Arachnid. Probably the biggest challenge is deciding what to use those big Tomes cards on - building spiders or Reactivating Swarms or the Borg to get them to an objective fast. Don't get tunnel vision with Ramos - he can nuke, heal, add defense auras and summon new spiders - make sure you're doing what is needed to take out threats rather than focussing on one thing.
  4. Welcome aboard, Lilith is a great start, her crew can be played quite straightforward at first but you'll find a lot of depth to her tactics as you keep playing.
  5. Welcome aboard Best thing to do is order the book, it is a brilliant read and will answer your questions about terrain straight away. Plenty of inspiration. The book also includes pictures of most models and stats for all of them. That will help you pick the crews with models you like the most. Terrain includes swamps, woods, rustic wild west towns, cobbled Victorian streets, mines, sewers...you name it. I can use a lot of my Warhammer 40K gear with a little modification to make it look Steampunk like the Hollow Marsh Pumping station or mechanical ruins. I also got into Malifaux for the painting, I'm playing it quite frequently now as it has a lovely storytelling feel to it and tends to attract players who like to experience the game as much as optimise tactics. Looking forward to seeing what you can do in the terrain department.
  6. I'm a pretty big fan of pinning. You can get a pin vice (like a hand driven drill) from a hobby store. Just drill a hole, fit a paperclip or some wire in and superglue both ends. Its pretty unusual to have a model that large that doesn't require pinning. Just be careful as Wyrd miniatures are quite thin, don't drill through the other side.
  7. Weren't the Old West circuses were more about gambling, ladies of negotiable effection and freakshows? I don't remember Penguins in HBO's Carnivale, which is an exact historical record* *No, no it really isn't.
  8. Well it is a huge, fuzzy teddy bear head...that doesn't exist. He's so hugglesy wugglesy and always there when you need him.
  9. Can I keep him? Pleeeeeease? Going to be checking out your threads more often, Mr M. That is just ridiculous amounts of awesomeness.
  10. Steampunkhorrorwestern...circus? I'm going to vote against Penguins. The Neverborn are scary because they take something apparently harmless and make it into something nasty...making them odd...wyrd? Penguins are already nasty and out of place. They are also not something that would be wandering around the streets of Malifaux for any reason. I like the wild west Preacher with the shotgun, though /sarcasm Man, steampunkhorrorwestern is so dreary and cliche'ed now, I mean everyone's doing it! Malifaux should become Spacepiratezombieninja.
  11. I just note what models have errata bits before the game. Easy. I'm laminating the errata docs soon, too. Can even scribble with a whiteboard marker.
  12. You were probably fed an under-cooked rhubarb product at some point. Like people who throw up after drinking a certain type of liquor, you're turned off it for life. Raw rhubarb has some chemical in it that builds up in your liver too fast for it to process. Dr Wombats prescribes a liver transplant. Rhubarb goes awesome in a apple crumble-style set up. I would strongly suggest shaved orange peel in there and even some strawberries if its a dry-ish one. Rhubarb and strawberries go together in a surprisingly good way. I don't think anyone should hang Chad, he's a bit of a spanner, but a public lynching is just giving him the attention he wants. Maybe you could "borrow" Chad's non-rhubarb allergic liver and forget to give him a new on. Two birds with one stone. This is progress.
  13. I'm a big fan of the Essence of Power with Rasputina and I'd consider it with Ramos if there was no need for speed and a lot of armoured targets for his nuke...but Marcus needs one like he needs a hole in the head. So, Marcus playing people, what are you fielding? I'll be ordering his box next and already have a Sabretooth and three Prides...
  14. Malifaux's page 5 is more about Eric's design philosophy than anything. Its certainly nothing like Warmachine's "You can abuse your little brother for not wanting to play with you" page 5. I couldn't find any Warmachine players who would actually explain the complexities of the rules in my first game and do anything but go haha I win. When I did find some good people to play with they had all converted to Malifaux in the last few months I still own a Retribution army because they are beautiful, I don't know that I'll ever play with them.
  15. Make it easy for yourself... I have a tray of the Warhammer unit I'm painting at the moment sitting by the TV so while I'm watching a dialogue heavy show like The Wire I can crank through them. And don't make it an obligation, paint what you feel like. Painting up Raspy was brilliant, I'd still be slogging through 100 Sisters of Battle if I hadn't just gone and painted what I want.
  16. Really, really nice. I wasn't fussed over the brown piccie in the book but you've really brought the mini to life. If you do get a chance, I'd love to see the shading on the front
  17. Goblyn is on the money with Spiders and Borg. Don't forget the Brass Arachnid for when you need to pick up a treasure token fast. Its also worth considering a Cerberus for speed when Strategies require it, you may not want to wait on a high Tomes to get to the centre. Rusty Alyce is worth considering in 30SS+ The Desolation Engine is a beautiful model but will need Steampunk Abominations released and Leveticus is the only Master they'll really work with. I'm looking forward to it. Killjoy might work, personally I just love the Steamborg. I thought the Borg was too expensive at first but he just keeps being my MVP game after game. Combat 7 with Paired (positive twist to hit) will hit anything.
  18. I think its reasonable to wait. You wouldn't want to have to release an FAQ on deciphering the FAQ. The shnozzberries taste like shnozzberries.
  19. You, Sir, are a liar and a cad! I don't field Gamin that much these days. Everything else, pretty much bang on.
  20. I don't actually need it, all our games run pretty smooth... ...I'm just curious, really.
  21. Bete Noire is nicer but this would be a really cool sculpt for the ghost who hangs around the Gorgon's Tear maybe? Can't remember if she had snakes on her head or it was just implied?
  22. Welcome aboard, I know the feeling - I can't play a dice based game now without wanting to cheat fate or wondering if a joker will show up
  23. Chomped Lilith the other day, thats what the Dear Rasputina thread was about. Took me about 9 trys on a straight flip...should have burnt her down with Rasputina from a tactical perspective. Although I lost, I won from an awesome perspective
  24. Yeah I'm talking out of one's derrierre at the moment having never played Marcus, may well be my next crew, though. For 1SS it seems like a good deal, I'd love to be ablet o spam them.
  25. I bought up Retribution during the MkII Warmachine field test. The Retribution minis are beautiful (I'm a fan of Eldar and Tau) It looks like a game I'd like to play. The only games I've had, though, were dominated by Master abilities and ... I dunno, people weren't playing for fun. It is a drastically different community to 40K or Malifaux. I know most of the people I like playing with (more painters and fun storytellers than min/maxers) are naturally gravitating towards Malifaux and almost all of them used to play Warmachine. I do get the feeling that Malifaux took what Warmachine did and pushed it a few steps further. To echo a previous post, the probability curve of WM seems very predictable and I find myself wanting to Cheat Fate.
