When this happens the model must move in a straight line while obeying these restrictions, moving directly towards (or away from) the specified object." and I've yet to see anyone successfully argue that push into base contact isn't a push in relation to another object

You can't push to the side like you suggest. (Pushing towards a model is a direction, and so you have to push directly towards. (page 46 of the Rules manual) ) that is why I said you have to be off set. You can't be directly behind the model or just slightly. If you are left or right of the model the direct route takes you to the side of the forward base...... (Seishin) (Izamu)

(Seishin) (Izamu) Pushing "into base contact" will end up sending Izamu directly towards the Seishin, no matter what angle you put them at. So in your diagram it will end up looking like this. (Seishin) (Izamu) I have good news though! So long as you're summoning incorporeal stuff like most spirits are, the entire discussion is academic! Izamu can push right through them. mo11usq
Mmmmmh Mourners. Undead (hello Asura!), Belles with Disguised and Manipulative, and a 'Funeral Shroud' action to prevent enemy models in their engagement range from targeting anyone not in base contact with them. My Molly (and Yan) will be watching this space with great interest.
