Issalbotproto
how does everyone feel about the Gupps? I'm gonna be doing a Spawn Mother game Tuesday I think I'm gonna try sending them ahead to scout and draw the slurids forward. Also, wanted to make sure, they are in fact suppose to be 40mm right it's not a typo?
Issalbotproto
Oh and my list is gonne be. Marcus Jackalope 2x Gupps 3x Silurids 1x spawn mother 1x Shikome 4 SS
Wormstrum
I thought the gupps sounded amusing, if not a little on the squishy side. Not sure how well they'd do with marcus leading since my first impressions were that zoraida would be the best for taking full advantage of the spawn mother and the spawning pool. But I'm interested to hear how it goes
Ratty
I believe Gupps are Gupps plural like Hoarcats so are on a 40mm base.

Issalbotproto
Yeah I thought so too, but I just wanted to make sure before I based my proxies. This one's the mother http://www.miniaturenland.com/en/shop/detail/1320.html these are the gupps http://www.miniaturenland.com/en/shop/detail/1299.html http://www.miniaturenland.com/en/shop/detail/1321.html http://www.miniaturenland.com/en/shop/detail/1322.html http://www.miniaturenland.com/en/shop/detail/1354.html But I am kind of concerned about how effectively I will be able to use the spawn mother with Marcus i was thinking that Alpha would help me position her better to set down her pool
dgraz
i was thinking that Alpha would help me position her better to set down her pool Unfortunately, I believe Alpha is only 'enemy beasts'

cerealkiller195
Mc Tavish can do it on friendly beasts for a mini obey.
Issalbotproto
He actually may be a good asset, I dont much carte for his rifles damage arc however the range does make up for it
Nephalumps
He actually may be a good asset, I dont much carte for his rifles damage arc however the range does make up for it FWIW, when I proxied in McTavish, his gun was less than impressive. Even with the he can get to damage, you're not looking at anything too scary. However, I think I was too conservative with him. Where I think McTavish would be most useful would be advancing up slightly behind the crew, chipping in with his shots, and hopefully contributing a Wrangle Critter (or whatever his spell is called) at the right time. What is really nice with McTavish is that he has a pretty solid melee attack, with good reach on it. So, if you keep him moving up, he should be able to sic that gator on something, which will be a helluva lot more useful than his piddly gunshot. Granted, I haven't used him that much. But he's definitely not a "replacement" for the Friekorps Trapper; McTavish isn't going to kick out nearly enough ranged damage to make his inclusion worth it if you just use him as a gun platform. Dude has a big 'ol gator - I'm guessing you should use it!
Issalbotproto
So I ended up not being able to get my game today, it's been rescheduled for thursday
Nephalumps
Regarding McTavish: I made a big fat error with him. When I played him, I completely forgot about his Critical Strike trigger on his gun (which auto triggers, thanks to his built in :rams on his gun Cb.) That makes his gun significantly better, as its now as damaging as his gator bite, and potentially more damaging than even the Friekorps Trapper if you flip/cheat in another :rams on the attack flip. So, yeah, his gun is actually pretty damn solid. I'll be trying him out again soon with this new revelation.
Fetid Strumpet
I'm looking forward to hearing how this goes. My initial thoughts on the spawn mother and gupps is that they're not too great. They require too many actions to be taken to get anything going, and the pay out isn't really great, at least on paper. I'm very much looking forward to hearing a first hand account of them as I love the concept quite a bit, and would be happy to be found wrong on my impressions of the Gupps. That's the impression I get as well, thats why I want to try them out because they have so much synergy but do require something of a perfect storm to work correctly
Rathnard
Random thought on the Gupps... A Malifaux Raptor drops two counters when it dies - enough for a free Gupp. So if you take the Spawn Mother and another non-beast, you're probably better off taking a Malifaux Raptor to beast out the minion and recycle into a gupp later on. Also, a 1SS Jackalope leaves a corpse counter when he dies, which is a pretty efficient way of piling on those counters during the game. ThePandaDirector
My plan was always to use the Jackalope to start the Spawning Pool, plus the Spawn Mother's ss cost includes one Gupps which can easily be respawned from the pool so long as the Mother lives. Plus using the Silurids abilty to move 4" towards the poll when they have a corpse counter can be used with their survival instinct to move 10" away from an enemy, effictively freeing up your leap to charge with (instead of using it to get away). A silurid centred list has a lot of mobility, and some well placed Rain Dances and proper placement can overcome their downside. I definitely can't wait for the Spawn Mother =]
