hehehe :)  Its weird that people who don't know me just assume I have kids.

My wife got a rose and a happy Mother's Day greeting when buying groceries today. She was a little insulted... though I don't really know why. I mean, free stuff!

The infographic says the Soviets were "Wounded, Concussed or Burned"

So... metal concert? ;)

Naah. Finns invented the Molotov cocktail to fight soviet tanks. Hence why it probably deserved its own category

Yeah, MD said so. It's in May in Germany and USA, don't know about the rest of the world.

I'd assume that Mother's Day wasn't a thing here before the occupation, and the Americans brought it with them. Happened with a few holidays. Haven't looked it up, though.

Mother's day is in may here (today) Not suprising, as we stole a lot from the germans.

Not like we didn't steal a lot back.

I once read that in the Netherlands there's a campaign to fight the vile cursing of you people. Not mere swearing, but actual cursing:

"I wish you'd die of the pox!"

That true?

ah, we have some of these here as well. Less fun than naming obscure diseases :D

I'll say. Heard a real fun one in German yesterday, though:

"Schieß dir in die Eier und stirb tanzend!"

"Shoot your balls and die dancing!"

That one is fun indeed :D

If I recall correctly, there is a traditional chinese curse "May you live in interesting times"

At least Terry Pratchett claimed so. Powerful curse indeed.

So, PD, what languages do you speak? Dutch and English, obviously, but how is your German and French? Any others? The BeNeLux people seem to know an awful lot.

Oh, and morning zFiend. Any funny finnish curses you like to share?
