YERSINA Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) My first Wyrd mini, Zoraida: Tabletop level, it was funny and fast to paint. The voodoo dolls colors have been chosen to represent every Malifaux's faction. From Guild to Mercenaries, everybody can be tortured by the old witch ! I expect your comments... Thanx ! JMGraham Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Outstanding! The overall mini is still Bayou-worthy dingy, while still having plenty of flair. The multi-colored voodoo dolls are very striking and meke the whole piece pop. Looking forward to seeing more from you, and welcome to the Wyrd boards! Quote
Shadeau Gorgon Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 This is awesome! The dolls really make this Zoraida stand out... I can't wait to see you tackle the Stitched Togethers, Wicked Doll, and Voodoo Doll totem... Quote
Cthulu. Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Very nice. I can paint well, but they look like crap when I take pictures. I always envy a high class painter that can take quality pics. Quote
Ravenswood Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Very nice work but small photo. Have you a bigger photos? Quote
Baron M Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Really nice. Splash of colour on the dolls works well . Sculptor approved Quote
oozeboss Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Excellent concept - consider that nicked. Now if only I could Doppleganger even part of your actual talent as well ... Quote

maxvon_d Posted November 11, 2010 Report Posted November 11, 2010 Very nice Zoraida. Great strong colours. Would love to see a larger and lighter pic though. Quote
YERSINA Posted November 11, 2010 Author Report Posted November 11, 2010 (edited) First of all, I apologize for my bad english (I'm French...) Thanx for all your comments ! here are the bigger photos : I used shades of green to make the flesh on Zoraida. To make it more realistic, I used the technic of Zenithal Light, which consists in brightening the top of the contours (like the forehead, the breasts, the belly, the top of the nose...) It's as if the sun was on its Zenith, the light comes right from above. I used more white in wy colours when I work on these zones. I hope I'm clear ... You can see an example of this kind of Brightening here (it's in french...): http://lekarevip.canalblog.com/ just look the pictures of the skeletons and the shade on their bones... I hope I will be able to post other photos of my works soon... See You ! Edited November 16, 2010 by YERSINA Quote

itsnotallison Posted November 13, 2010 Report Posted November 13, 2010 It might just be my monitor, but the photos look a little dark. Regardless, Zoraida looks really good! I like the fur and her face. Quote
YERSINA Posted December 19, 2010 Author Report Posted December 19, 2010 Some new pictures of the last minis I've finished. Let's start with the voodoo doll, I'm not very proud of the result but I didn't find how to paint it otherwise. The green thing in the middle of the picture is supposed to be a snake... Let's continue with the silurids. They're painted in different shades of green, first to represent the chameleon rule and then because I can't stand to paint two minis the same...:dozingoff The colour I used is Goblin Green, mixed with other colours: Space wolf grey for the blue silurid, Camo green for the other one and Bubonic brown for the last one) Then I used many washes to complete the colours (devlan mud, baal red, leviathan purple, scépia...) And finally, a group photo, with, in guest star Zoraida the stunt witch ! She fell from one meter above on tiled floor a few minutes before the photo...:dead1: she had impacts on her hair, the beast skin, on a voodoo doll... but I've been lucky, after few minutes of work, it's invisible ! I admit I've been scared when I heard her bounce on the ground ! Now, I've got to start the work on Bad Juju ! Quote

I agree it's not the easiest model in the world to paint. your version looks great though. Quote
YERSINA Posted December 20, 2010 Author Report Posted December 20, 2010 Thanks for your comments ! I'm gonna start my Bad Juju tonight... but it will be longer to paint than the other models ! I won't send pictures before few days (or weeks ) ... Quote
