  1. Look at the bright side of things, OP. You could pay a couple of hundred dollars for one (including Western Union charges) and have it not arrive after 9 months. It's then that you look back and think that you'd have done better to not get involved in the first place. Been there, done that - didn't even get the t-shirt.
  2. @Griffsnog: I have no doubts at all about mattraptor. I believe that he's acted in perfectly good faith. But I do know that things disappear from various postal services & wind up on internet auction houses (usually after a facelift). And I did work for Australia Post once, so I have no faith in the integrity of that organisation.
  3. Thank you for the suggestions, gentlemen. As mattraptor was the sender & should have the documentation you talked about, I have complete faith that he will do exactly as you have said in the immediate future.
  4. On 10 December 2010 I bought this rather distinct version of Lord Chompy Bits from mattraptor via these pages. mattraptor posted it to me from Central California the next day. I have no doubt at all that it was posted, however it is impossible to track the passage of that parcel from California to me here in Sydney. After two months, it is still yet to arrive. The most likely reason now appears that it was stolen, either by an employee of Australia Post or the US carrier, or by somebody in the Australian Customs Service. It was addressed to me c/- of my work address, and if it was to arrive it would literally be straight to the desk next to mine. I'm more than a little bit annoyed by this, not least because, with various (highly expensive) charges added, I did end up paying over $200 for the miniature. It has so annoyed me that I have literally not played a single game of Malifaux since 10 December. Please keep an eye out for this unique version, & let me know if it appears in any websites or gaming tables. In the increasingly unlikely event of it surfacing, I do intend to initiate police intervention. Many thanks.
  5. For a 35ss tournament on 20 February, I'm looking at combining both sides of the argument: Lucius Lawyer Guild Guard Captain 3 Guild Guard 2 Austringers (I'm not sure whether to add the Governor's Proxy + 3ss or just a 5ss pool.) I also have Ryle up my sleeve (we can have up to 45ss from which to choose forces for each round), although the general consensus here seems to be along the lines of "nice model/ shame about the abilities". I'm thinking that Lucius & the Austringers gives me some genuine long range firepower, while the Captain + 3 Guild Guard can take care of anything within 8". And the Lawyer seems to me to be just plain insidious! So am I heading in the right direction here? :lucius
  6. (Apologies to all of you who are not resident in Australasia as this thread is specifically about the Gaming Tournament scene Downunder, but any suggestions & support from outside of the Antipodes will still be gratefully accepted. Unless it involves migration.) After Cancon & MOAB, Leviathon is aguably the third largest 'general' tournament held annually in NSW & the ACT (I exclude Dogcon simply because of its extremely limited range of gaming systems & dearth of commercial support). Leviathon 2011 will be held on the weekend before Easter/ Anzac Day - 16 & 17 April - and the official website http://leviathan.westernsuburbsgamesociety.com/ predictably has no mention of our game. I believe that our game needs to be actively and enthusiastically promoted at every possible opportunity if it is to gain traction and grow to a level of long term sustainability, and that establishing a presence in conventions such as Leviathon should be part of our collective long term goals. With that in mind, is there a Henchman or experienced Malifaux player (and the latter condition excludes me completely) who will be willing to contact the Leviathon organisers & get Malifaux in to their con & further expand the pernatious influence of The Breach on the Australasian gaming community's collective psyche?
  7. Inspired thread topic - all due kudos to the OP! Everything that I am doing in the game these daze is but an entree for my chosen Master. The Dreamer. There are more flexible, effective, reliable & predictable crews, but none that have as distinct, unique and complex storylines. None that allow such artistic license, and none that so unleash the beast of the imagination. When I do finally field the sleepy boy, it will be as the total package: all possible members of his crew + custom built gaming boards (x2) & terrain + custom built counters (including a turn marker). :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  8. Two more for consideration: Avalon (the Japanese film shot in Poland) & 12 Monkeys (more Terry Gilliam, Ratty!). :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  9. How much is not as important as what brand, imo. And the answer to that is: Formaldehyde! :violin::saint::violin:
  10. The UnderEmpire's gonna rise again!!! (I guess I'm morally obligated to do this crew, huh Comrat?)
  11. Brazil is simply outstanding. The ending to Inception is inspired, and opens a can of worms about the nature of reality. I loved the close of Being John Malkovich - such utter pathos. And I found the end sequences to both Bliss & Big Fish to be superb ways to neatly close off the respective films' many themes.
  12. The NFL is my 'other' football code, as it is largely run during the (Southern Hemisphere) summer break of my 'main' code, the AFL. And as my AFL team is from the smallest city of all teams - the Geelong Cats - it seems only appropriate to support a team with a similar base in the NFL. In fiscal terms, the Packers & Cats are somewhat like bumblebees (the laws of physics should mean that bumblebees can't fly, but somehow they do), & I've always been one for the rebel attempting the illogical or improbable. I was one of a troika that started the South Australian Gridiron Association (since renamed - by people with a political agenda rather than any vision in acronyms - the Gridiron Association of South Australia) in the mid 80s, but AFL is my game of choice.
  13. Ah, thank you ... but ... ummmm (from Umbridge) ... but I haven't, totally. As I pompously declared somewhere else some time back: short or frivolous posts will be in the old (purple, italicised, centred) format, while long or D+M's* will be in plain black, left faced. (*D+M = Deep and Meaningful) I can't let Rathnard (who did do it first here) be the sole shining light piercing the eternal twilight in this Epoch of Monochromism. And the chorus line of dancing marshmallows are mine! Speaking of which ..... :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  14. :bump: :bowsucker :party::party::party: :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  15. The puppet deck is certainly used as much - if not more - than the standard decks at my gaming club. And for all the reasons already listed: durability, sensational artwork & just that special feel. But I'd go back to my earlier point: none of us have 3 decks of it! :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  16. Ditto. It does set off alarm bells for me that one person has 3 Puppet Decks though. I really fail to see any valid reason why he would do so. I have a puppet deck & a Neverborn deck (so that I can run demo games & provide 2 decks), and although I usually play the Puppet, my opponent's comfort zone means far more to me. (Last question - for the Mods/ Admin: why is this generic thread lost in the Neverborn part of the site?) :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  17. O Lord, now I'm agreeing with Natty!?! Which proves conclusively that tomorrow the sun rises in the west & the world as we know it comes to a shuddering halt. (But at least we'll still have the dancing marshmallows!) :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  18. Happiness is a list with 2 Trappers and Hans. :rocketwho:rocketwho:rocketwho :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  19. Think: Inception. Then add a naughty little boy, fast asleep & dreaming. Dreams. Bad Dreams! Malifaux changes as The Dreamer changes it. Reality is but a passing illusion, and what may be mapped today will be completely irrelevant by tonight. As the t-shirt of truth says: :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  20. I really like the concept of 'goal difference' being the primary consideration in determining winners, with - perhaps - most VPs being the tie-breaker (in order to encourage players to actively seek to achieve vp's instead of merely preventing their opponents doing so). To apply a sporting analogy, what would you prefer to see: a 1-0 win or a 9-8 game?
  21. *sigh* There you go, talking more sense again! What is evolving here as the glitterati of the Neverborn (such as all of our esteemed colleagues who have contributed to this thread thus far) experiment with varying orbats is a move away from the initial prevailing orthodoxy which previously defined lists for The Dreamer. With the evolution of the 'Big' list and the Alp Bomb (and various other mutations), we are now developing a range of options which will ultimately make us far less predictable. This evolution will make The Dreamer a far more challenging crew to oppose & considerably more entertaining to use. The Dreamer (imo) has the most imaginative and dramatic fluff in this remarkable game, and with it, the greatest license for unleashing the beast of our imaginations in conversions, paint schemes & even scenery. It is reassuring that the tacics of our beloved sleepy boy are also evolving in to parts hitherto unimagined. The Dream continues ... :marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell:marshmell
  22. Not very, when your definition is so deliberately selective. And clearly inappropriate, as no ill intent is implied in any way. In fact, your choosing to apply this specific interpretation is basically bordering on bamboozling (pardon the pun) - as per above. However, in the context for which I originally applied it, it was as per the next part of the dictionary definition (which you chose not to mention): 2: to perplex; mystify.
  23. Is it just me having an attack of gas, or is there a direct correlation between these two posts? :explode::explode::explode::explode::explode:
  24. ... when it arrives. Until then, we have the situation in Oz where there is a tournament this weekend which has opted not to use v2 cards, then one on 20 Feb which has declared that it is using them. So like the OP, I find myself frustrated & bamboozled & basically not having fun (hence I haven't played a game since the v2 cards were released). Until the New Rules Manual is released, we remain in that dreaded limbo where only the Rules Lawyers thrive.
