It may protect you from viruses, but it makes you pull out your hair and want to throw the computer out the window. F-Secure is better, but not great. Makes the computer slow in start-up, for instance. We're trying out Panda at work. It seems to work well. Oh, and Matty... Macs are the new arena for hackers.
