  1. LoTR Heroes are recognizable and mostly inoffensive. Plastic car models worked to high detail might catch some attention. Sci-Fi things like star trek, star wars, or battlestar gallactica are all recognizable from some stand points too. Dwarfs are failry innocous as are some of the simpler hero type figures. Something historical would be hard to complain about too. Just a few ideas.
  2. Graduating high school and starting to date what would end up being my wife. Started 2 years of schooling and full time computer repair. Also, started picking up the brushes just about ten years ago.
  3. I was thinking of a multipart contest with different genres. The competition being the average score of your submissions. You submit a fantasy, a sci-fi, a historical, and a terrain. 4 different submissions each individually scored and added up or averaged for a final score. You could also add an under 10mm or over 48 mm category and allow contestants to drop the low score from the average. The winner in each category would get a prize and the grand prize would go to the best average or total score. That way somebody who has multiple DNF's still has a reason to submit something. (the first DNF would be dropped as the lowest score)
  4. My biggest idea for prizes would be for the non-skill based winners - the random swag guys. The option to win a model that has been painted by one of the judges in the contest would be cool or my other idea would be to have a model sculpted by a professional sculptor based solely on input from the winner and the sculptor. Reproduction rights would have to belong to sculptor or wyrd. That would be a totally unique prize and would inspire me to try my hand at some comps.
  5. I use this all the time and it works fairly well, just be familiar with what things do and mean. Each match is given a number and that number gives the distance between the two colors. If you choose two obscure lines it is possible to get matches that aren't even close.
  6. I have always loved this mini. You work has done it justice. The red and gold really pop.
  7. I like it. It looks pretty cool.
  8. Just north of Seattle we go almost 4 inches of snow in about 5 hours too. Sure that isn't a ton of snow, but it is April and it was also 80 degrees out last weekend.
  9. As long as it stays just your name and doesn't start to include your face, your mini painting accounts, address, and workplace I wouldn't worry too much about it. I don't think most strangers would make a comment and if your friends do, well, that depends on the friends you've chosen.
  10. Ah! The baseball optimist. Keep it up - they'll make you smile. Mariners beat the Ranger 5-2 by the way.
  11. I work 3 blocks from Safeco field and get off from work about 15 minutes after opening ceremony. Now all I need is a ticket. My coworkers laugh at me because I bring a little portable radio to listen to the games on - starting with cactus league. Go Mariners.
  12. I've been not working on a dragon for 2 years now so when I look at minis or start to prime something it is simple - very simple. Cluttered minis just aren't appealing to me right now. Maybe that is a phase.
  13. I think that is actually pretty cool. Not big on any forums so I wouldn't know, but I think that is really creative.
  14. I traded in my PS2 at Gamestop and they gave me $100 off the PS3. I had to trade in my memory cards, (didn't matter - PS3 doesn't use them) and my controllers, (didn't matter - PS3 uses USB instead of PS2 proprietary connection). I think I ended up paying about $450 for my PS3 after all the stuff I traded in.
  15. I have a PS3. It plays all of my old PS2 and PS1 games without a snag. They just recently discontinued the models that are backwards compatible; I am fairly certain you could still find one new. Also, if you like to tinker with computers, the PS3 is sold as a computer in Europe to circumvent tax laws meaning that it will take any hard drive with the right physical characteristics and will also run Linux. Wireless bluetooth controllers are awesome, mine last for days before needing recharging. Sony is starting to get things organized for the online section. Disadvantage: The Japanese get most of the cool stuff first, but you should be used to that. On the other hand, you can access the online stores for other countries if you establish an account and can get demos of foreign stuff. Their is no region encoding on the PS3. These guys will give you the capabilities of both machines. http://www.console-exploits.com
