I swear, I'm not really a goth. (Thankfully, I couldn't get the painting my girl had done of me as a zombie sized down small enough to use as an icon here, so I can still claim non-goth status with a straight face!) Nathan Caroland Posted December 23, 2008 Author Report Share Posted December 23, 2008 My daughter plays the Viola - and although she is moving into high school only next year her coaches and teachers seem to think that she'll be quite welcomed in a number of colleges if she decides to keep with it (yay, anything that keeps me from having to pay for it!). So anyhow, she is up there sawing away on that thing and I keep thinking that sounds .. familiar. Another half hour and I'm tapping my foot along and go .. you got to be kidding me, she's playing frickin' Metallica rifts on that thing. So I scoot my butt up there and come to find out that her new passion is some group called Apocolyptica (happened while I was off in Alaska apparently). Had to google it for myself. I had been playing the guitar and Metallica was one of the bands you strive to play like back then. When at the music store I think I remember seeing an Apocalyptica CD right around the Metallica stuff and got me looking into it. It was VERY different at the time and sounded pretty cool.
