Can Grave Goo Engulf on a charge?

Am I reading this correctly?

Charge says push and then take a melee action that doesn't count against your limits.  Engulf is a melee action.

Can I charge, swallow someone, and then, say, drop a scheme down?

You can, although it does use up your bonus action for the activation so from a game point of view there is no real advantage over charge>engulf vs charge>sludge strike , engulf. 

Also if you have already engulfed or Grim feast, then you can't engulf on the charge. 

 

EDIT - I'm wrong it does not use up your bonus action (anymore). Ignore me, I think I'm at least 1 errata behind...

pretty sure that bonus actions generated by other actions don't count towards the limit for that turn - it's how you can throw two clockwork grenades a turn with Kore.

So you can:
* Charge -> Gen the Engulf
* If it fail, try to engulf again
