Roadhouse Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 So I've been working on this There's a 3rd structure to finish, and I'll be building more boardwalks, but I need ideas for LoS blocking terrain. Help! P.S. My personal preference is playability over aesthetics. P.P.S Nothing is attached to the surface of the board itself. The structures include their "porches" and the rest of the boardwalks are individual lengths ranging from 2"-5.5". 8 Quote
lusciousmccabe Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Wyrd really needs to add a "Love" button for posts like these. How do you treat the various bits and bobs rules wise? Quote
Roadhouse Posted September 4, 2016 Author Report Posted September 4, 2016 Haven't played on it yet, but we're going to try it with the ground level being severe, 1" penalty to move from ground level to board walk, structures impassable. Structures would provide hard cover as normal and boardwalks(while on ground level) soft cover. I intend to double the amount of boardwalks in the picture and stay pretty close the rule of thirds. edopersichetti Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Looking good! I built a Bayou table myself and I love playing on it. There is a lot of severe terrain and a below average amount of cover, but that all makes for a different gaming experience so my advice is: don't worry too much about making the perfect table, it isn't written anywhere that you need A LOT of LOS blocking terrain. It's just different. If you really want to add something, some trees would look good. I used both GW trees and the Malifaux special edition hanging trees. Here is a link if you are curious 1 Quote
Roadhouse Posted September 4, 2016 Author Report Posted September 4, 2016 Skewed tables lead to skewed games. The majority of the play group has only been in the game for a couple months, and I'd hate for them to have some big NPEs against an opponent that benefits from the open LoS or ignores the Severe due to Flight or Unimpeded. KrazyIvan Posted September 4, 2016 Report Posted September 4, 2016 Plants mounted on 2"-3" bases. Lots of them. Aquarium plants will do nicely. Quote
Butch Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 Mangroves You can plance them plenty an the board. For gaming purposes it will not matter if they're standing in the water or on the ground. Quote
ArcticPangolin Posted September 5, 2016 Report Posted September 5, 2016 Building wrecks, huge dead trees, tree groves, animal pens/prisoner enclosures... For a more surreal touch you could have things half-sunken into the ground at odd angles... Stone walls, statues, clock towers, shipwrecks... Quote
Roadhouse Posted September 6, 2016 Author Report Posted September 6, 2016 Thanks for the input guys. I'm going to swing by a pet shop today to peruse aquarium foilage. I also picked up a bag of polyfil yesterday and I'm going to try to make some fog banks. Quote
Roadhouse Posted September 20, 2016 Author Report Posted September 20, 2016 So here's how the aquarium plants turned out if anyone was curious. Young Nephilim for scale 4 Quote
Slartibartfarst Posted October 1, 2016 Report Posted October 1, 2016 All entries are looking great! Really adds something with the levitation on the battlefield. May I suggest some railing on the walkways, or perhaps beams with fishing nets that are being dried? The nets should be able to cover large bits, but may be harder to pull off. Some crates, torches / braziers even or what the others suggested. Possibly a feeding area to some farm animals? With a small shack, some fences and possibly large feeding trays. Quote
