  1. Because a Fireteam usually is composed of 3-4 members and a Squad 9-12. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fireteam Hope that cleared things up
  2. I hope there will be more like him. Commanders are just awesome.
  3. I think Horomatangi we all want Titanic Commanders right?
  4. Go for whatever works for you. As I always bring pretty much everything I have (also for the fun of it) and unlike WarmaHordes don't bring pre-constructed armies I personally prefer the loose cards in sleeves route :D. However in any case UltraPro's products work well for any card, Malifaux cards included. So good choice!
  5. The advantage of the 'new' Eggs is that they have a fantastic ability to claim objectives rather quickly. This way you can do things with them that otherwise are much harder to do with 4 point units. The con to this pro is that they get destroyed much easier by opponents but that egg-hunt allows for a very nice and interesting subgame In both cases I believe something can be said for both the Eggs and 4 point units. Like KE's Infiltrators being there matters.
  6. Not totally incorrect but we do have Lucius to help out and while build 4 is mediocre their cost is just excellent and they are super flexible
  7. On that note there isnt a binder that easily holds everything. 18 cards per page basically and thats when you dont use the cards.
  8. If you know them by heart it's just a matter of browsing through them alphabetically for me. The question of comparison sometimes comes up but not too often (anymore). But if shuffeling through cards hurts your hands I'd just stick with the binder. If shuffeling through anime booby cards doesn't hurt your hands you have another problem The prime reason for me to keep it this way is indeed the horizontal vs vertical card design, which is why I prefer to keep the cards (and tokens etc) seperate in a massive sturdy box.
  9. Dragonshield boxes and Dragonshield clear sleeves are my choice for the trade. Works incredibly well for MtG and as such goes even longer with Wyrd's cards. While I can see the advantages of binders and such the quantity you need to thake would still require you to re-insert the cards for a crew build. This set up just allows you to split the cards into Upgrades, Masters+Totems+Henchmen, Enforcers+Minions and Fate Deck. Ideal if you ask me. In most cases you'll also have some room left for tokens and/or measurement gear.
  10. I use this one for Guild (all) including Bad Ink Fate Deck (which suits Guild I think). They have them in every alliance color.
  11. I can only share my plans: Mimics: - Mr. Graves - 2x Changeling (- The Scribe) Guild Minions: - Death Marshal - Witchling Thrall - Austringer While this will certainly lead you over 35 I think Mr. Graves and 2+ Changelings are a very solid defensive / scheme core. Added to that can be pretty much everything you fancy. Lucius is rewarded more now upfront as ever, which is why I like Graves a lot and also do not mind the Death Marshal and Witchling Thrall.
  12. @Tris that 10 Stones is one of the reasons as to why I still like the Brutal Emissary more here, same cost, much more flexability and movement and McCabe synergy and thus basically much more money for your buck. Not saying Sidir is downright aweful but Guild has some really good alternatives and I feel Sidir is somewhat more costed towards his use in Ten Thunders. Same with Wastrels really, nice in TT, not so for Guild, we got Luna
  13. All very cool ideas! I think turquoise metallics for the skin could also make them look fishy.
  14. Also keep in mind that those are not the finished cards As currently it would mean The Silence Between Dimensions wouldnt trigger.
  15. I dont know if a 3rd edition wouldn't put everything back together. Honestly I dont think its planned for next year but would not be suprised to see it after Wave 6. By large because at that point every faction will have enough depth of models to have seperate faction specific books, which obviously also comes with its pros and cons but allows for a good selection for all models and the depth. By then it's very likely all cards will be available through app aswell. As for moving away from open testing... I think that's a bad plan honestly. By large because how it can offset the relative small community. Wyrd's strongest compagny asset is their contact with customers and players. Even here you only have to call out a name to recieve a responce if you demand it. Warmachine and Warhammer are perfect examples of how in house testing often leads to more issues than community testing. In that case also only one team is to blame and that's the compagny's. It's very easy to miss some rules interactions that can be found by the community later on. By large because the longer you playtest inhouse the more you get drawn into the 'intended rules' instead of the 'rules as written'. Community playtesting remain essential, even if the community is more biased towards certain aspects of the game as the compagny. That bias is also what they 'want'. To give a recent example of Mk3 Warmachine/Hordes, PP clearly wanted the Warjacks and Warbeasts to be on the forefront of their game, while they succeeded I have seen more than a dozen of topics that wished infantry remained more relevant (like in Mk2) and the honest part of that story remains that this is also likely what the community wanted because several systems have switched so much that a large part of communities search out for something different. For me this story applies aswell, I quit WFB because I required too many 40-man blocks while GW offered 10-man products. I got into Malifaux because PP did not community-test Mk3 leading to several rules oddities and overal lack of consistent design amongst several factions. All of this could easily been prevented if those compagnies actually made use of open testing. TOS as Wyrd's latest game also does not seem to revolve around Titans only, I am very happy with this, people want armies and not a upscaled Skirmish game.
  16. Id say go for it. I think you can work out a horseman rider just as easily. As mentioned by @Cadaverousbirth Rollins is an ideal character if your looking for a bike in Malifaux and in addition someone who's fighting with a chain. Which is something the regular McCabe doesn't do. The Death Marshals offer a ton of pieces to work from, I'd say that box should be split into several pieces for your plan. The models come like this so I'd say that will be step 1 for your bits box: The McCabe headswapp should not be an issue, you could probably even mount the horse on one of the caskets/pine boxes. Next to that Francisco is great with everybody and I think you could actualy use one of the DM models for a proxy for him also. Just give one of the DM's a propper sword or machette (plasticard or differently) For Guild Hounds you could use several other miniatures or just Wyrd's, who are equally awesome but could save you some time in greenstuffing flames. I think Reaper or Heresy miniatures might help you out. Alternatively if your looking for Cerberus' you can also use the Arcanist mini to keep it all Wyrd. These models are certainly larger as Guild Hounds but do fit the hell-ish theme very well and I dont think there should be too much confusion by using themon a smaller base. Granted you likely have to cut away at some of the rock he's standing on. Lastly Queeg and the Brutal Emissary are certainly must haves. Add those nice Death Marshal flaming skull head to Queeg and I'd say he's done. Other than flames the Brutal Emissary fits right into your setting. One thing to note is that the skull he has is actually not his face but more like a helmet/mask. It's only noticable on base level but I decided to give you a heads up on it nontheless Happy modelling!
  17. @Gnomezilla I believe HeroClix to be part of WotC ergo Hasbro? In any case SW Armada is not played locally as far as I know. X-wing or FFG products are reasonably popular. Cashhammer locally is played the most, logically because its also distributed the most. Preasambled is no shock here either. Enough KS products here who run on the same basis altough since its one-piece caster usually also not the best quality. Quality however is valued differently per customer. Not all gamers are hobbiests and not all hobbiests are gamers. There is a lot about TOS I love, balance and ease of play (in all) is its biggest pro. I do however believe that in order for this game to really go next level players do want more scenic models. Perhaps someone can inform me as to why Wyrd seemingly took one step back from the awesomeness that is Death Marshals? On the other hand I believe @Aaron said that they took a step back from some KE concepts?
  18. If you can obtain Rollins Black the theme would be incredible for Ghost Rider.
  19. @Burnin' Coal The only reason as to why I feel most pre-assembled miniature games don't catch on is because of the rules and/or licences involved. As the examples I remember the clearest: - World of Warcraft the miniature game still heavily favoured 'collecting' models which where part of a blisterpack series which gave a random model outcome (I believe). There certainly where some good starter boxes but the game fell flat because it's rules design wasn't anything to write home about. - Heroclix still excists and draws the attention of many young possible gamer, again the rules arn't that amazing. - X-Wing is doing INCREDIBLY well but is also limited to it's Star Wars licence. While that licence goes deep I cannot imagne the game being part of the hobby in 10 years orso (sorry SW fans, we same the same with Lord of the Rings, licences die). The Other Side brings a whole new aspect in a game that totally belongs to Wyrd with a setting that totally belongs to Wyrd. There will be Malifaux overlap and likewise we will see overlap from TOS into Malifaux. This all reinforces their own brand which in turns allows for a whole new chapter in the Wyrd miniatures book.
  20. Not to critique the crowd but in general the prime reason as to why players divert from army game to skirmish game is because of the time involved. At several Warmachine tournaments I see nearly unpainted armies. Even back when I played Warhammer fully painted armies where not extremely common. As the hobby (in general) grows more expensive and the overal free time people have decreases I think this move was a very smart one for the years to come. Most players as said can assemble/paint two dozen orso models, it's more fun also if those models look differently. Much more than that and I feel the fun part is drastically decreased. Prime reason for me to like Malifaux had to do with the character of the models and the quantity required to paint. Nowadays this is how I judge my miniature games. It's also not a coincidence that GW went from full scale army (WFB) to AoS 'skirmish'. It's also not a coincidence that PP wnt from 'skirmish' to Robot and Monster fiesta. I cannot prove it with marketing research but I believe the current trend for new players is to buy into stuff that doesn't cost a lot of time to paint and play. TOS is played on a 50 point level and while it technically could have been much more I do believe that 30-45 models is the feasable maximum that players really still enjoy to paint. Now that assembly has been removed from the hobby time involved doing an army like that should not technically cost more than a month, assuming you are capable of painting up a mini a night.
  21. I too do not mind pre assembly at all. By large because this way games quickly lead to fun battles, without proxies and without delay in even base coating models. The Other Side is the next step in miniature gaming and I feel Wyrd takes the time to make something very good, while they easily could have walked the standard way. For Malifaux I dont mind assembly and adding a lot of character, often your crews wont pass a dozen orso models. For Warmachine and Warhammer Ive always played partially unpainted stuff because of assembly or the fear of damaging white metal anyway. The Other Side offers me to play and paint instantly, in addition I really like the system and creation process cards like Assets add.
  22. Im quite certain another Wave will come. I think that Wyrd indeed strives to give options over new=better, the one thing we do see however is that Wave 3/4 is largely better as what we where used to not so much in Masters but general choices. The Field Reporter and Witchling Thrall are just excellent minions but further put some other Enforcers and Minions to shame aswell. Which is why I stress on how some of the old is a bit faulthy in design. Not all, just some. I am very happy with the change to Lucius as he was an oddity in the game. Likely the previous worst Master. Loco, Austringer and Frank too where above the curve and their changes are valid, needed to keep things healthy. We still do have several Guild Marshals and Guardsmen choices who do not see the board however. While the fixes to them dont even need to be massive. Leading to my following wishes: 1. Have Lady Justice work better with Death Marshals. Her own card is not bad, her Upgrades (all) are just clunky. In my opinion she survives on Badge of Office, neat but likely not intended? With an allround small Guild Marshal buff aura/effect she'd be allright. Visions of the Void also would make her really cool and unique. 2. Let us have a Master that can Summon Guardsman. Every Guardsman works in pairs, neat but also restricting them. I feel that thanks to the Austringer cuddle this plan can actually recieve a green light. Franco Marlow would also be perfect for this I feel, by large because there is a ton of room to shape him and a ton of room to have him on a Master level. Hes not the same old GG veteran who clearly was a super power just by himself. There is a list of models I have not taken and dont feel stressed about getting them (ever) most of them are indeed Guild Marshal or Guardsmen... As others will note, we do have some ways to make them slightly more viable but in all honesty the regular statline found on these models doesnt reward the use of doubles as much as their cost currently suggests. To date I feel Malifaux generally rewards diversity in your build and if your required to have a model that requires another model to function within set area it's extremely difficult to control the board. Frank and Loco are the perfect example of how powerful you need to be to succesfully apply such stratagies.
