  1. I wish. All the money went to GenCon. Going to more than one convention out of state is not in my budget, unfortunately.
  2. So I'm not the only one who can't reply in the forums on a mobile device (like my iPhone). It's a white background and I see nothing when I type. Maybe it's been fixed but I keep having to use the full version of the forums to post anything.
  3. If only you guys were closer and the event was not during the week. I'm a Henchman in the East Bay so going to the city during the week is nearly impossible. Weekends are open but still planning on future events.
  4. I'm not from the southbay (too far of a drive for me) but I'm willing to make the drive to Game Kastle Fremont. May hold my next event there but still looking at prize support.
  5. Makes sense. For one booth I shopped at, a model cost $22.99, but they rounded it to the nearest dollar to $23. I had calculated my budget for Wyrd product based on the price they had listed in their newsletter, not including tax, so I couldn't buy everything I wanted. I was hoping to get the Effigies as prize support, but I was already running low on funds by friday evening. =(
  6. I was told it would be a larger scale game (in comparison to Malifaux). Also uses a fate deck. In terms of model sizes, I would prefer the 28-32mm heroic scale because that's all I've ever played.
  7. As someone who went, shopped, and volunteered, here's what I have to say about my experience: I had a head start on looking at the book due to the volunteer party, and was able to play an entire game of Darkness Comes Rattling, thanks to Aaron! The players and I got to clarify a few things with Aaron (since he did was the lead on the game). No new figs to look at but was able to go through Shifting Loyalties before actually buying the book. Booth experience: Whiskey Golem is fabulous as usual, with a nice touch of a Coryphee at the other end of the booth. SHOPPING BASKETS. I cannot emphasize that enough. There was a guy in front of me in line with a Privateer Press bag FILLED TO THE TOP (he must have had an enormous budget). Henchmen/women working that first day were awesome, grabbing items for people in line and keeping the line moving smoothly. As this was my first GenCon, it's nice to have everything labeled by faction as well as having the book on every shelf. The question is: what other models could Wyrd produce to take the place of the Whiskey Golem? Volunteer experience: I lost count on the number of demos I did, for people who had no idea what they were doing, but that's what the new 2-player starter is for. It's for learning from the ground up, instead of being given a group of models and having a good portion of the rules thrown at you. Even the first part of the manual for the starter says to go basic, and to teach the core mechanic of Malifaux - flipping and cheating fate. Learning combat is, I feel, the best way to experience that mechanic. So, in all my demos, I taught basic combat to incorporate the core mechanic. I loved the demo tables; people would walk by and take photos. I demoed on the gothic building table (I referred to the other table as the train table with the purple worm). My only disappointment with the table I used was that whoever had used that table in the earlier shift had left quite a mess - figures and fate decks and stat cards everywhere. My first demo was not as good as my later ones because nothing was organized. It also happened to have 2 starter sets. So, after my first demo, I cleaned it up, so anyone else who would demo at the table wouldn't have to pull their hair out trying to locate models/fate decks/stat cards. Overall, I'd do it again! I don't know how many shifts I'd work (definitely not on a Thursday because that is strictly a shopping day). Got comments on the shirts, since we stood out vs. volunteers for other companies that just seemed to blend in with the booth and the general crowd. ONE QUESTION: Why did the Wyrd booth charge sales tax? Other booths I bought stuff at did not. Just out of curiosity.
  8. I can get it to you after work, but someone is probably going to beat me to it.
  9. Looks good. I just happen to be at the bottom of the Henchman list for California because of my city. =)
  10. There goes the bank! 2 books, 2 starters, Carnival, Collette, and other misc models plus cards. I don't think working one shift at the booth is going to cover all that, but it's my first time to GenCon so I'm doing it all (shopping and working).
  11. It's a decent game; I play with some friends and backed their Kickstarter for additional factions. It's a d10 dice system with some historical figures configured to the system.
  12. Yay! That means I can probably finally attempt to run an adventure!
  13. I don't use any crew builders online or apps to build crews. My opponent and I decide on a size of a game (mostly like 50SS, since we're advanced players), then pick crews accordingly. I have a general idea how much SS my crews cost because I don't change them up very often (or at all). A lot of the time I have trouble deciding which upgrades to use because there are so many good ones and sometimes you don't have enough SS to use the ones you want, in additional to what you already have selected.
  14. It's meant to be basic or easy. For people starting out, don't want to make the models too difficult to put together (Malifaux has its share of models with many fiddly bits). I'm getting it strictly for the models (and maybe as a prize support for an event).
  15. I just got that email too! Now I can get Lord Pepto Bits in bright pink plastic! He'll be a great display army (doubt I'll ever play him).
  16. The smoke Tara crew was available for both the 2013 and 2014 Black Friday sales. I didn't think she was going to available after the 2013 sale but she showed up again in 2014 so I bought one. I've been lazy and haven't built her. Maybe her regular version will be available at GenCon (can always check, since I'll be going).
  17. I was fortunate enough to pick one up during Black Friday. Hopefully, even though the regular crew will be out soon, it will be available during GenCon/Black Friday this year.
  18. It's been announced as a release in the next few weeks/months, if you're willing to wait.
  19. Man, people are scrounging for that model. So glad I got mine years ago.
  20. The witchling handler is an ok model, but I'm not a big fan of the art from 2E. Her face is so round and chubby. And I have three copies of her card when I only have one model...
  21. I happen to enjoy Cthuhlu themed board games and other beasties listed in Lovecraft lore. I also enjoy Cthuhlu plushies (they are far too disturbingly cute to not want to have).
  22. The hand is supposed to be 4 cards, according to the Nova open rules. I'm hosting my first enforcer brawl next weekend so it should be an exciting format.
  23. Come play in the first ever Enforcer Brawl at Black Diamond Games! Here's the link to the event on facebok. All rules courtesy of the NOVA Open! =) https://www.facebook.com/events/394318810737511/?ref_dashboard_filter=upcoming
