  1. Tots definitely work well for a Neverborn Lynch crew, but don't overlook Gupps if Deliver a Message or Stake a Claim is up, as they can make just as effective a use of the Ace of Masks and they have decent defensive abilities in Silent & Perfect Camoflauge, as well as Companion.

  5. I tried Performers with McMourning over the weekend, and they are definitely worth the 6 points. While Siren Call doesn't have the range or base stat of the Belle's Lure, it's built in Sip of Wine trigger is very synergistic in a poison-based crew (and can still be hired by McMourning as a Guild master), and since it's an attack action, works very well with Rafkin's My Own Concoction. In addition, the trigger is actually better than Expunge in most cases, as it doesn't interfere with McMourning's other options or rely on the Chihuahua to pull it off. Manipulative, Precious and Don't Mind Me also work nearly as well for McMourning as they do in a Showgirl crew, allowing even more ease in getting down scheme markers and making an opponent think twice about targeting them or killing a Performer in range of reactivating one of your other minions. They performed so well, I think at least in a McMourning crew, they will be replacing Rotten Belles until I see something to convince me otherwise.
  6. While we're even a bit further than ASYOUWISH78, we've got a pretty good size group that plays in the Reno area, and have organized play every Saturday if you are ever up for the weekend to ski or gamble. It's a pretty good sized group with at least 10-12 players every Saturday. We're at: Heroes Games & Hobbies 1289 Baring Blvd Sparks, NV 89434 (775) 331-0102 Feel free to PM or e-mail me as well.
  7. Especially when Hannah uses it. The one that made me smile for Wave 2 was seeing Abuela Ortega's "Roll Me Closer Dear," as I can only imagine her new art/model will incorporate a wheelchair of some sort.
  8. I always assumed the model kept its inherent suit and swapped just the number of the stat, but can see the need for clarification. How did we all miss this in the beta?

    Nekima

I like Nekima in that she is a very tactical model that can do a ton of useful stuff, but puts herself at major risk in doing so. Bloody Beauty is often a game winner in Pandora and Nephilim lists, allowing you to do a lot of repositioning of enemy crews for Misery and Pounce damage. While I haven't tried her with Jacob, I can see her being a good addition to that crew. She's definitely not an auto-include for me, as 13-16SS usually eats up the potential for other options. You have to respect the opinions of people that see problems with the model though. She can use Soulstones, attacks with a high minimum damage that can force a high TN horror duel in an AoE when it kills, and can re-position opposing crews en masse. I think there are a lot of things in the game that are ahead of her in cost-to-benefit ratio, but those are separate discussions.
  10. Fees +1 applies a damage modifier with its condition that damages based on the same type of wording as Frenzy, a +x damage in response to something, when no damage would normally be dealt. If you don't see the correlation I do, that's fine, but I'd take a closer look and give it a bit more thought.
  11. Nicely done tactica! I did my best to stay away from my favorite masters from 1/1.5, and was honestly feeling a bit disappointed in how Collodi and his themed crew turned out (especially Vasilisa's last minute change), but your article made me feel a little better. As you mentioned, Props is better than it seems, as used correctly, you are saving your high cards for the important things and can usually summon back anything that dies around Collodi (except when it's mass damage from blasts). The avatar upgrade in its current form will make this limited a lot better if it remains in its current form. With Fated and Threads of Fate, I find Coryphee make good Personal Puppets despite the inherent risk with their high cost to low wounds ratio, as they have the high innate Ml attack and the ability to gain Use Soulstones to negate the 1 or 2 damage that gets past their armor (and you have a decent mechanic to keep the soulstones coming). My biggest problem with the crew is still the blast damage potential (a lot of people in my meta are fond of Rasputina and Sonnia, and I know Wong is soon to be added to the list). While Hodgepodge helps, most people focus anyway for the chance to cheat/flip moderate and severe damage to get the blast templates, which are devastating to this crew made up of low wound models. I like the utility the effigies offer, but I have found the crew lacking in hitting power. Losing access to the Coryphee Duet was a huge hit to a themed puppet crew, but no use crying over spilled milk, right? More than the ridiculous movement in 1/1.5, which clearly needed to change, I miss the "death by a thousand cuts" output. I know there's still some extra AP potential, but it doesn't feel like it has sufficient potential. The crew works best out-activating the opponent and presenting a major threat that hopefully distracts them while a couple little things run around accomplishing VP conditions. It can work well, but I've found quality opponents tend to avoid the bubble, do something to punish the clustering (Molly's summoning...), and pick off objective runners.
  12. I was initially inclined to agree that it wouldn't deal the +2 damage on an attack that doesn't do damage normally, but there would seem to be a precedent/redundancy with some of the other new abilities like the Guild Lawyers Fees +1 from Special Damages, which makes an attacking model take +1 damage after it damages something else. Normally, a model wouldn't take damage when it is damaging something else (with the exception of another model's ability like Black Blood), but the intent seems very clear with this condition that it is meant to be a deterrent to attacking while a model is affected. I'm not saying Frenzy and Bear Hug are intended to work this way, only that there seems to be a decent argument for the OP's position based on at least one other new rule that I can think of at the moment. Until there's a clarification, I think it's a valid argument since Bear Hug is a Ml action and the +x damage has other instances where it seems to intend damage where none is normally generated.
  13. Our group has worked its way up to 50SS. Certain lists seem to fare better in smaller games (summoners, those that can manipulate movement, and models/crews that can get a lot of extra actions through combos and triggers), but I agree with the book suggestion that the game seems much more balanced overall at the 50SS size. Many of the strategies and schemes have a lot more depth when there's more than just a handful of models running around.
  14. That's a tough call... I got into the miniature hobby as a painter, but the two aren't mutually exclusive for me, or most other people I know that paint/play, anymore.
  15. Very nice job, keep up the good work! I wish I had the motivation to make time to paint mine...
  16. Sorry to pile on Ratty, but I'll add my name for the Henchmen who aren't listed and don't have access to the forum page. Thank you for your time.
  17. I think Cojo got upped to a 50mm base and got an errata because he couldn't comfortably fit on his base either. It's likely more problematic in the case of the Brass Arachnid, as he had a 1/1.5 model already. I still haven't opened my M&SU box, but did wonder when I saw the render on the back of the box.
  18. While not at all what I was expecting, nicely done. As one of the "unique" (as in not present in 1/1.5), non-Gremiln masters (not that there's anything wrong with Gremlins), I think a lot of people are/were curious what Wyrd would do for her art, and I don't think people will be disappointed.
  19. Congratualtions on your success! It's always interesting to hear about what crews and models are popular in different metas. 10 Thunders and Arcanists are quite popular out here, and while Ramos and Mei see a lot of play, Jacob rarely does (although the crew tends to be successful when it is used).
  20. As Darguth mentioned, Somer's Do It Like Dis (sp) makes him very powerful allowing both Git Yer Bro (sp) summoning and Loudest Squeal escapes to go off (only Pandora is generally more frustrating to try and lock down) by providing the suit requirement. Once you get to larger sized crews and have multiple Slop Haulers, don't be afraid to have them use Reckless and heal themselves or each other too. Try using the Skeeters to fly up the board and lock things up early. With their high DF and positives to disengaging strikes, you can really slow down things trying to engage your Bayou Gremlins, and probably get your opponent to burn a card or two dealing with the pests, not to mention the Pull My Finger damage if you have the proper upgrade added.

    Ice Golem

I think at least initially too, it's a good business plan to keep many of the "new" models as crew box exclusives. Many of the players from 1/1.5 I know were hoping to avoid buying Lilith's box, but wanted Barbaros enough that they did anyway.
  22. Wave 1 In Faction: Miranda Jackalope Sabretooth Cerberus Razsportine Rattler Cojo Molemen Hoarcat Pride Wave 1 Out-Of-Faction: Canine Remains ® Waldgeist (N) Silurids (N) Dawn Serpent (T) Piglet (Gr) Warpig (Gr) *I think that's all of them Wave 2 In Faction: Malifaux Raptor Slate Ridge Mauler Blessed of December Wave 2 Out-Of-Faction: Guild Hound (G) Rogue Necromancy ® Night Terrors ® Shikome ® Spawn Mother (N) Gupps (N) The Sow (Gr) Wild Boar (Gr) *Again, I think that's all of them As for what to buy, Marcus is pretty versatile because of his choices, so I'd just sit down with a book/cards and the Wave 2 files. If you've got his new boxset, I think a Molemen blister and maybe a second Sabretooth Cerberus if you're meta prefers 50 SS would be a good place to start. Try proxying some of the options to see how they work for you if your on a limited budget too.
  23. Potentially interesting since the action doesn't name McMourning, just the trigger. Another one that would be funny, but I'd miss the stinky Chihuahua even in a casual game.
  24. The Malifaux Child's Just Like You doesn't read any differently from any of the Magical Extension abilities on many other totems if I remember correctly (Wendigo & Poltergeist come to mind, and I'm sure there are a couple others). I always assumed they were capable of generating triggers since most other actions are specific when they cannot. I believe it would still suffer a negative flip on the damage because it stipulates something to the effect of "any resulting damage flips" gain a negative flip (I don't have a book with me either), but wouldn't get the positive on the Jackhammer Kick because it is a separate action associated with the trigger. I can see the need for some clarification though, as it is unclear where you draw the line with the triggers (i.e. does he get to potentially use Intimidating Pose too?), but I would say RAW allows it in my opinion.
