Hey all Just thought I would show off my latest painting'ness I have done. Which sadly is not Malifux (I soon will update the Painting Competition 2015 post of mine - hopefully the year is out that is) but is a very cool converted GW Eldar Avatar mini I bought off eBay a few weeks ago. I sprayed the mini all white in the first instance ... and I have to say GW's new white spray is great. Does not come all powdery like the previous incarnation. And you can spray it like your do with the black spray - as it give such a smooth finish. I think used mainly inks and wasking for the main bulk of my painting. I first di this idea on the first Avatar I bought a good number of years ago ... The lava base was simple ... prior to priming the mini I used, obviously, pieces of cork to make teh rocky outcrops and then used liquid greenstuff to roughly smooth off teh base, and build up a couple of bubbles on the lava base to give it a bit of depth. Then again use used purely the inks I have which I got from my local arts store by me. They leave a bit of a shine but for lava I wasn't too fussed. The only real paint I used on the mini was black and bronze ... along with the small bit of green and blue for the gems on teh mini. To help give it a nice contrast from the firey reds. #WAACChallenege2015 Update #5 Going ... Going ... Gone!!! Well after a total of 14 days and two listings the mini went for a grand total of ... £2.00 plus P&P of £3.00 So I decided to match the bid and donate a total of £10.00 to the charity. Was hoping it would go some something a bit more - hindsight (Which is a bitch) I should of palced the bid higher or had it as a Buy it now with best offer option. But you live and learn I suppose Wargamers All Against Cancer 2015 - Donation page They are nearing their aimed target of £3,000 of donation, they have a third to go - give or take!! So if you wish to donate, or carry out the challenge go ahead But while I was on eBay I got looking and searching ... which as all us hobby'ists know is a bad thing to do ... So at least with an Epic Scale I can easily build and store it Current Painting Project - Marvel "You won't like me when I'm angry!" My current on going painting project is to do a display of some Marvel Comic Characters for a friend, Olivia, to give to her friend for her Birthday. As she is a big Marvel fan. And after giving Olivia a list of Marvel Characters currently available from Knight Models (Well the ones I saw listed in 35mm scale on wayland Games website). nd the ones Olivia picked are; The Hulk Thor Wolverine I have only started work on The Hulk so far - so here is a WIP of his with the base colours only and a wash on teh skin prior to brinign up the colour; I shall post future WIP picures also as usual. #WAACChallenge2015 - Update #3 Hey all, I have an update regarding my #WAACChallenege model... The model it self is done, part from needing to get some Gloss Varnish for the gem and eye lenses ... and of course the base which it made just need painting ... I am not 100% about the power sword ... I painted it silver, washed it green light covering of silver again. Then dry brush green and silve on top. Then added more green aroudn teh 'power source strip' thing. Thoughts and opinions welcome on this. As it was done to imply power coursing through the sword. I do like the green on teh Plasma Pistol, for the same reason as teh sword. Just looks a lot better in my opinion. I shall get the base done this week for it to be posted onto eBay for sale ... if some one wishes to buy him Mexi'Grems & Judge Grem And her are now some picturs of the Mexi'Grems I'm calling them I bought off Greenstuff_Gav - Great Green'Stuffing to turn the 40k Grots into Mexican style. #WAACChallenge2015 - Update #2 Hey all ... thought I'd post a WIP Progress report of my 2ed Space Marine Captain. You will be please to know that this model I have been 'feeling' more and so is well on his way to being finished. Just a few finishing touches really. And having to get him off the base to go on a semi scenic one I have in mind of a rocky (cork) outcrop. He should pop off with some careful to'and'fro to break the superglue bond First of, here is a photo I have edited on Flickr to show the only colour, and some black now painted over, which was on when I first started painting him a good number of years ago ... Sicne then, and my previous post, I have put a lot more paint on the model. And just a few details left to go. I feel the model has the right darkness and lightness to it. Considering it is from an era where they loved the bright paint up at GW ... where as I like my models to look bit dark. The parts where I will be focusing on will be; The faceplate - the eyes are going to be red and glazed/glossed over The gem in betweem the laurels on chest - unsure of the colour but I am thinking red (Just need to black out the 'gem area' for starters) The plasma pistol obviously needs work - I will be making the plasma store brighter to 'pop' more. And green glow from the vents by the 'muzzle' The ploom - I will be adding white to the ploom. So it goes ... RED WH ITE RED WHIT E RED WHITE RED And of course the sword - I am thinking of doing it a silvery'green metal, as one of the guys I follow on YouTube done a purple-metal tutorial video. #WAACChallenge 2015 - Update Well guys, as you know I am planning and painting my way towards helping charity - if anyone wishes to buy my model that is once it is painted of course (Else I'll donate £10 to the charity - JustGiving - WAAC 2015) But after spending many an hour of blood sweat and tears on the Dark Angels Company Master from the Boxed Games of Warhammer 40,000 ... as you can see below, many an hour was used on this model; As you can see, so much time and effort was put into this model. But after a few of these hours I decided I was not 'feeling' this model. I think it was down to the too many robes on one model. Although I like doing robes, I wasn't feeling this. But instead of giving up - although this model will now be cast aside to be found in the far future when I next go through my stuff like the other week (A near future post shall be done on that and my findings) - i decided to pick another model to paint up. This substitute model was found in my little 'Treasure Hunting' mentioned above - and t'was partially painting (The blue armour was pretty much done) so technically over the 6'week limit. But as I am about half way through the 6'weeks I thinking it be okay ... So here is the new model I started to (carry on) paint the other week ... (Apparently "Somebody" likes the blue) He was surprisingly unscratched ... considering he was found in a large box under my bed. So I am hoping he will come out nicely - and nice enough to be bought by some one I am going to try and make the vents and power cell on the Plasma Pistol glow slightly to make it look extra special - so if it works go me I am also going to try and get him off the base here and onto a resin base of a wasteland'ish I got some Fenris Games. I shall post more later this update/finished model - along with soon the link for online posting for sale. Also, while on the subject of Space Marine WIPs I came across a Space Marine Librarian I started when I was at my cousins flat 18months ago or more ... I will most likely paint these two along at the same time. And I am pretty proud of the loin cloth on the Librarian unsure on the colour for the icon on the staff mind.
