A solid showing and kudos on completely painting a faction that you own! One word of advice I wish I had listened to years ago, a wet palette and multiple layers will take you a long way. I was amazed (as were my friends) at how much better my painting looked once I started thinning down the paints and slowly working a color up to the shade I wanted it.

Just to give a counter point, if you are willing to wait until his new plastic box comes out, there's a good chance it will have joss and the brass arachnid in it. Plus, awesome new sculpts and worse case scenario the old box will likely still be available and discounted.

Would you be willing to share two techniques? 1) how did you get the snow to end up looking so fluffy on those bases? 2) how did you do the paint job on the nothing beast?

So I just picked up the Seamus box and have been reading through the models and upgrades. The upgrade "Not too banged up" has some wording that I'm not quite understanding. For example I put the upgrade on Sybelle; it reads "Models targeted by a Lure Action from a friendly Belle while withing LoS of this model gain +2walk for the duration of the action." Is this saying that the Belle needs line of sight to Sybelle, or the model targeted by Lure needs to be in LoS of Sybelle? Thank you for your help Blaine

I like where you're taking her with the gore. May I suggest using tamiya clear red paint on her for gore effects. I think you'll be pleased with the outcome. Jim, what an awesome event! It was completely worth the flight out there. Excellent scenarios and stories, only thing that would have made it more interesting was if more people got sniped at in the fourth scenario. Overall just excellent! Great swag, probably the best swag I've ever seen at an event and I love how you dolled out the prizes at the end made it so much easier to enjoy the scenarios knowing that everyone would a) get something and the drawing would be random.

When do we need to provide our 50ss list?

I bought Kaeris initially and then Ramos. I loved Kaeris, Ramos just sucked. I'm sure he has a place but the sit back and create spiders mode is lame for a master. He's slow and vulnerable and I've seen a few people use him to decent effect but I found him boring to play. My experience was that I really didn't start enjoying Arcanist until I picked up Mei Feng. Warning, she is not beginner friendly, she has a whole mess of triggers and special effects. But once you start using her and get into the swing of things it works great! If you really want to play a faction that is well balanced and strong, I hate to say it, but Guild is a great place to start. Especially if you're picking up Luscius. Thats my 2 cents for what its worth.

Hi, my name is bfrench and I'm a Malifauxholic. You're not alone. My first crew was Kaeris which quickly expanded and then added Ramos. . .it has since developed into owning guild, neverborn and arcanists. I've come across some great eBay deals and it's hard to turn down. I found that limiting myself until I got everything painted is probably the best way to curb the habit. Also, I have to remind myself that it is doubtful that I will get good running every crew that I own, so whats the point of adding one more if it's just going to sit in a box or be painted sitting on a shelf. My wife and I also made a monthly budget which gives us $100 apiece of blow money. Makes you realize how expensive models are when you're debating if you want to spend it and you have a more limited resource.

Actually a few people have the dead justice box set for sale in the trading forum. I just got the NE Teddy for $50 shipped from FoeRender and he did have a nightmare justice box for sale too

At 35ss I've tried two different lists with Mei Kaeris 8. Emberling 2. 2 rail workers for 10 steam punk arachnid for 3 Rail Golem 9 8ss cache Or I've dropped the rail golem and rail worker in favor of 5 more steam punk arachnids This second option has been amazing. The arachnids when individual offer the near guarantee of out activating your opponent, the 0 action latch on to reduce defense by 2 (and this can stack) and a not too shabby damage line. Sure they'll usually only do two damage but that starts to add up. Being able to swarm them together to make them significant, gain melee master +2, recieve postive damage flips, get a free healing flip and have a potential paralyze trigger makes them just awesome in my mind. It's a good choice against offensive melee masters with high defense that are in your face rapidly think Lilith or Misaki. It's a whole lot easier to hit them when they have a defense of zero. And this can give you multiple rail walking points in opposite directions letting you effectively move Mei from onelateral board edge to the other in a single turn with 2ap.
