  1. I watched a Colette crew dump 30+ scheme markers in a game. It was impressive.
  2. I'd recommend buying all the plastic starter box sets plus the university box. That should give you plenty of options to summon. I'd also look into buying extra flesh constructs and canine remains. Anything else is up to you.
  3. Incorporeal does not circumvent disengaging strikes. It is one of the examples used in the rulebook. For your other questions, only damage from Ml or Sh attacks are halved. All other damage is not.
  4. I use these guys: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Barnyard_Commandos
  5. Time: June 28, 2014 Registration: 11a-1159a Tournament Start: 12p Game Size: 50 Soulstones Tournament Format: Gaining Grounds 2014 Location: Montag's Games (9430 Broadway St., Pearland, TX, 77584) Phone: 281.412.4100 Entry Fee: $10 Montag's Games will be hosting a 50 soulstone tournament for Wyrd Miniatures' Malifaux. The tournament will be using the Gaining Grounds 2014 tournament formatting (which can be found at http://wyrd-games.net). At registration, all players must select one Faction that they will hiring from throughout the tournament. The tournament season used for this tournament will be determined by the TO and will not be announced. Scheme pools will be determined randomly by the TO for each round. Please see the Gaining Grounds packet for the rules on proxies and conversions. All models must be assembled, but painted models will not be required. Prize support will depend upon participation.
  6. Malifaux Demo Night Date: May 28, 2014 Time: 5p-Closing Location: Montag's Games (Pearland, Texas) Address: 9430 Broadway St, Pearland, TX 77584 Store Contact: 281.412.4100 Never heard of Malifaux? Always wanted to try out the game out? Swing by the store for a quick demonstration of what Malifaux has to offer.
  7. The spawn mother is not nekima or bad juju, and should not be used as such. She's more of a support henchman, better leading a crew from behind. Give her a try in a zoraida-heavy swampfiend list (and make sure you bring another "big model" to take some of the heat off of her).
  8. What master are you expecting to play against? Outcasts are notoriously difficult to build against. Otherwise, I'd try: Arcanists Crew - 50 - Scrap Kaeris -- 7 Pool +Arcane Reservoir [2] +Grab and Drop [1] +Powered by Flame [2] Eternal Flame [2] Arcane Effigy [4] Fire Gamin [4] Fire Gamin [4] Gunsmith [7] Mechanical Rider [12] +Imbued Energies [1] Metal Gamin [4] Metal Gamin [4]
  9. The triangles are not 18"x18", which is the requirement for Reconnoiter.
  10. A pair of Wardens is fun, especially when you paralyze two models a turn. Joss can be unkillable at the worst of times. The Mobile Toolkit is a wise investment.
  11. I'm not arguing against that. Sometimes, you just need to get 1 more wound on an enemy, which Fingers is incapable of doing.
  12. I never had any success with the whiskey golem as a melee threat. He was better used as an objective grabber that could clear out his own way. I'm currently on the fence concerning Fingers. He is solely a support model, but may be the best scheme layer in the game. However, I've had too many games where his lack of combat potential cost me a win.
  13. The simplest thing you could do is spread out just far enough were Coppelius cannot engage more than one model. Another is to position Ryle so that he must be engaged if Coppelius insists on shooting across the board. Lucius can give Coppelius real problems as well. Teleporting your ranged units out of melee is the best option, and then Lucius can tag Coppelius with Red Tape afterwards.
  14. It would help to know what you are taking, in general. Sometimes, a change of masters can help immensely.
  15. I highly recommend the Fermented Monks, though this will mean that you will need to take the infiltration upgrade. Francois, Sammy, and Bayou Gators are also good pickups as well.
  16. You take her because she is a sweet-looking model. And I hear good things about her and decaying aura.
  17. You could pretend that he stole Santiago's girlfriend. It helped me at first...
  18. Why is this in the rules forum? Anyways, everybody eventually gets what they want from the game they play. Gamers want to game; painters want to paint; story-tellers want to story-tell. In the end, you should enjoy what you want from the hobby, and understand and accept that not everybody gets the same enjoyment as everybody else.
  19. No retainers, but there are some useful stuff that aren't, like rotten belles and punk zombies (if you go Rezzer).
  20. I have seen players put 3 Malifaux Rats on a 40mm base.

  22. I know that I'm late to the party, but I'd like to play devil's advocate. There exists several hard counters to Lure, blocking off LOS being the easiest to achieve and available to every crew (depending on the agreed amount of terrain). Another one that comes to mind is Sonnia's counterspell aura. Ca 8 is worthless without both suits. I have been on both ends of this, and its just not fun. Taking models with Stubborn, or old-fashioned Immunity, also gives the Belles a hard game. When your opponent declares Resurrectionists, the first thing anybody should consider is that Belles are an option. Your allowed to bring countermeasures.
  23. I agree, but it technically says "common timing terms used in triggers." It is also the only place that I found in the rules that remotely comes close to resolving this.
  24. For the witchling stalker, his Burning condition falls under the "After damaging" timing. At least this is how we play it. Page 26 of the little rule book has general timing for effects (specifically under "After damaging").
  25. Malifaux Escalation League Dates: February 26, 2014 - March 25, 2014 (4 Week League) Location: Montag's Games Address: 9430 Broadway St., Pearland, Tx., 77584 Phone: 281.412.4100 Entry Fee: $5 We will be having a four week escalation league at Montag's Games in Pearland, Tx. Players wishing to participate need to sign-up at the store and have a crew of 30 soulstones for the first week. For any questions, please use this thread.
