  1. I tried searching for the answer to my questions, but either I didn't know what to look for or the answer wasn't there, I suspect the former. 1. Can a model claim soft vocer when the LoS is interrupted by a friendly model in front of it? 2. What if the firendly model is getting cover from terrain? 3. Is a minion allowed to kill a friendly minion?
  2. I believe Wryd has won a few awards in years past, that should help lend it an offical air.
  3. But don't you see that is everything that is wrong with the plastics? If these where models designed for display it wouldn't be a problem. But these are gaming pieces for a game, they are supposed to handled frequently. In addition the models are so tiny that the detail is barely there. The Orian could be models from Descent: Road to Legend the detail is so faint and not everyone is a pro painter capable of painting in the extra details.
  4. I share the Gamers Lounge view that the plastics did not need to be so spindly. I am also of the opinion that the plastics could have been slightly larger and therefore more robust to fit in with Wyrd's current line of metals.
  5. most likely though I may paint the powerpack in NMM or metallic shading since its quite large.
  6. Hey Everybody, I havn't been painting much Malifaux but I did manage to get the freaky corpse painted up. I didn't want follow the conventional army colour scheme so I settled on an industrial blue instead. This colour scheme was created with GW foundation Fenris Grey? Shadow Grey? not really sure of the names, but the final highlight was Ghost Grey from Reaper Master series, basically a succession of blue grey colours. I also wasn't keen on seeing yet another Hulk Hogan impersonator wandering the streets of Malifaux either so I painted Von Schill up as Danny Trejo, though his skin maybe a little on the darkside. The bases are Cobblestone from Dragonforge painted a reddish brown.
  7. It isn't impossible to put the faction under a microscope, a majority of scientific papers have multiple authors and same method could be applied here if you really wanted to. Any number of players could volunteer their time to play one master exclusively covering all the strategies and schemes and trying different minion combos. Such games would need to be graded on the quality of opposition, but after about a year of solid gaming you would probably have a large enough data sample to analyse.
  8. Though this may sound condescending, I think the trouble people are having with X master isn't anything to do with the master, but rather trouble thinking outside the box. I listen to quite a few podcasts Malifaux orientated and otherwise and the impression I get is that a master that might be deemed really good in one scene is dismissed in another. Granted some masters are more obvious than others, but this game is about combos too, how one model interacts with another model. Also I think people tend to fall into the mistake of grading a model based purely on its killing potential. If model A delays an opponents model to allow model B to score the victory points is it any less valuable than model C that kills the enemy model instead? Which is the more satisfying victory, killing your opponents models through brute force or flummoxing your opponent with tactical brilliance? Before you call for a change to a model, I'd like to see a proper scientific investigation of that master or minion, how it works in every scenario, with every scheme and how it works with other masters or minions it is allowed to team up with. Only after rigorous testing could any calls for change be taken seriously. I am not an expert by any loose association of the word, but I will offer this bit of advice. If you aren't getting anywhere beating your head against a brick wall, perhaps it is time to walk around it instead.
  9. That is a very good point about replacing an inactive model, but it is still a replaced and not a summoned model. This is something that needs to be addressed by the rules marshals as this is a new twist that hasn't been covered in the rules. In the case of Candy I would like to say that she would activate as normal if she had not already done so. But then why wouldn't this apply to the second Vik manifesting as the avatar? I think you both deserve a thanks for finding the crux of the issue.
  10. Omenbringer's stance is that the Avatar of Slaughter cannot use any AP general or otherwise on the turn a Viktoria uses an ALL action to manifest the avatar. The opposite stance was that the Avatar is a summoned model and generates its own AP which is in clear contravention of the rules for replacement and is thus invalid, because the rule clearly states that the replaced model continues the activation without interruption. Another stance was that you could use companion chain to give the Avatar two general AP, but this is also a clear violation of the companion rule. This is because the either the Vik not using the AP is passing and thus loosing the AP generated or is replaced/removed before she can generate the AP. The last stance, as far as I can tell, is that it if the Vik that used the ALL is the model being replaced then the Avatar ends its activation with the healing flip, but if that Vik is the one removed then the Avatar can use the 0 ability and 2+ melee mater. I don't see anything wrong with this stance, but I'll accept the ruling if it goes Omenbringers way.
  11. So a model will not receive reactivate if it hasn't activated this turn like getting reactivate from precious when a Performer dies near them.
  12. Misaki looks fine, you can't highlight white, all you can do is shade. If anything I think the red on the ribbon could be highlighted a little more.
  13. After navigating this thread I have come to a solution that does not break or twist any of the rules as they stand at this time. When you activate Viktoria #1 and use ALL to manifest the avatar you have a choice to manifest the avatar by replacing Vik #1 or Vik #2. If you opt to manifest at Vik #1 then the avatar performs the healing flip and ends its activation in accordance with the rules for an ALL activation. If you replace Vik #2 with the avatar then you can use the 0 AP and Melee Master 2+, but Vik #2 had not generated any general AP so the avatar will not have any general AP to use. This is in accordance with the rules for replacement. Companion does not enter into the equation as Omenbringer was quite correct in pointing out that a model does not generate AP until it is selected in the companion chain which Vik #2 would not be as she is being replaced with the avatar. Unless a rules marshal says otherwise this seems like the best solution.
  14. I think it depends on which Viktoria is being replaced as the replace effect clearly states that the replacement model, when it appears does not generate its own AP but instead uses the leftover AP from the model it replaced. So if the Avatar is replacing the Vik that used the ALL action then it would not activate, but if it replaces the Vik that hasn't activated that turn then it would get the AP from that Vik.
  15. Its taken me three pages to work out what this thread is about which tells me there is something fundamentally wrong with your communication skills. But I now get the issue in question was asking if one of the Viks uses ALL to mnaifest the Avatar of Slaughter and the other Vik hasn't activated yet then does the Avatar have some AP to spend. I'd have to say no, but I do think she would still have the 0 charge and melee master. Why, I dunno I don't have the rules in front of me, just call it a gut feeling. It just feels right.
  16. Too much pink, neutral background please in future, that goes for everyone. That said I rather like what you've done, colours are pretty good, though I'd have gone a puprle black with Nicodem or he should have had a leopard skin hat band, I mean why only be half pimp? The hat on the dog is a funny touch and painting up the zombie Boxer in pug colouration makes it look like a giant mutant pug which is freaky in a good way.
  17. I agree, I wouldn't want to see New Jedi Order and Legacy, they are literally galaxies apart from the what Star Wars was. There are plenty of great stories between then and episode VI. Many of which aren't even focusing on the core characters. For example I think the Rogue squadron books would make a great TV series. If they were to make the Thawn trilogy or the Courtship of Princess Leia they would have to find new actors to play Luke, Leia and Han Solo, mind you that is the only real key positions that would really need to be filled as you can just bring back Genevieve O'Reilly to play Mon Mothma.
  18. I think it would be a pretty awesome idea to expand on this and create a separate podcast that produces a regular stream of steampunk stories in the same fashion of the Escape Artists Inc. podcasts. You could call it Steam Pod.
  19. I think - Colette Kaeris Performer Gunsmith Gunsmith and something else, perhaps a SS miner. Colette will hide up the back popping out SS for Kaeris and then mid to late game use Illusionist to move up and add use dissappearing act on particularly bothersome enemies.
  20. I'm gonna have to question the wisdom of using Scribor bases, they look good, for a character model. Given that alot of the crew is rather undersized Nephlin they are going to look a bit lost on some of the bases. As a rule of thumb height two models will probably be ok, but for anything height one you should use the loose statue bits. Also for purple skin I suggest you take a look at using lilac instead of a bright purple.
  21. WTF? LoL! Yes that really was my reaction when I scrolled down to Vanessa with her $$$$$$$$ out.
  22. Really? You think their defensive ability, harmless and their sword with a damage bonus isn't that great for only 5SS?
  23. Very nice, they don't have a unifying colour scheme, but still work together because of the bases. I hoping to achieve the same affect with my outcast crew when I get around to painting them.
  24. 3ss, but I see a problem right there, setting yourself against Perdita directly is a mistake, like Colette, Perdita is stronger with her crew. focus on taking down everyone else and at the smae time try to stay out of sight of Nino and Perdita and make the most of defence stances and abilities to make it harder for the rest to hit you.
  25. An artifical soulstone is still a soulstone. Hint- it has the word soulstone in its description. Don't get snotty about it either, if you've reduced Colette to one soulstone you are doing extremely well.
